Steven dwells on throttle response. I drive a 2023 X1 Xline with 18” wheels. I find that if you floor the accelerator from a stop the car gasps before launch. Sometimes that happens even without tramping on it, and it is disconcerting to get a lurch forward in tight spaces. However, at this point I’ve learned how to handle the accelerator and be less aggressive. So this problem has evaporated. I would agree that training the driver instead of the car is undesirable, but experience will solve this problem for the most part.

Thanks for watching! Good point - I do agree that after getting used to the strange throttle mapping, it didn’t feel as noticeable. Just probably will be unpleasant for people initially testing the car out :)

I recently took delivery of a 2023 X1 as an additional family vehicle. I personally haven’t had an issue with the transmission, but I previously owned an Audi S4 with DSG dual clutch, so maybe I’ve learned to adapt. I dislike the auto stop-start, especially now there’s no physical defeat switch, but It’s easy to set up an i-drive shortcut.

Very helpful video! Several questions for you... 1) Did you have to wait for your car after ordering? 2) If so, how long did it take to receive it? 3) Was it shipped directly from Germany to California, or to the East Coast and then trucked over to California? 4) Does the self parking feature come standard or an extra added option? 5) Can you show how this self parking feature work?

I’ll try and answer some of your questions, but unfortunately the car was a rental from National Car Rental at SFO Airport, so I don’t have any insight on the ordering process :( The self park option comes as part of the ‘Parking Assistance’ feature which is standard on all 2023 X1s! I never used it but it does seem pretty cool :)

The self parking is demoed on KZbin. My experience is with the automated back up. The car will back out if my garage by itself by remembering how I drove in. Because my garage is tight, I really enjoy letting the car move out by itself - no need to worry about banging a side mirror on the door frame.

in my case. my car finished production on 10/31, went to Zeebrugge, Belgium where it sat at the dock there from 11/7 to 1/17/23. Then the transport ship went up the coast to Emden, Germany, then to Southhampton, Great Britain and then down to drop off vehicles in Cartagena, Columbia, then through the Panama Canal. Then one stop in Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico, then next stop in San Diego before reaching Port Hueneme, then to the BMW Processing Center in Oxnard, CA. My x1 was on board the transport ship, Heritage Leader. Left Zeebrugge on 1/19 and reached Port Hueneme, CA on 2/15.

I ordered mine November 5th and received it January 7th. of course now they probably have them in stock. The stop start feature is not so bad. Sometimes there is a slight (maybe 1 second) hesitation when you hit the acceleration. I love the vehicle. I traded in my 2019 three series because I wanted something more roomy and accessible.

Ordered online and confirmed at the dealership on 4/1 and picked it up 7/22. 4/24 first appeared on the website tracking. 6/11 left Veebrugge port. 7/4 crossing the Panama canal. 7/13 arrived Pt Hueneme 7/20 arrived at dealership but not ready. 7/22 picked up at the dealership.

Good review. Thanx. What are the options on this car? The paint color, the leather seats, 18inch wheels, any more? Are the LED lights on this vehicle the option ones? I wonder how they compare with standard ones

NO real leather option for the US/Canadian models, they offer Sensatec II (perforated vinyl) i may add... yeah, that airport rental x1 has just the basics... those rims on 18" all season tires come standard.

@@JanEeckhaut perhaps you should have mentioned that in your first comment since now I believe you are from another country besides US or Canada. Seventeen inch rims/tires would look quite small, as even on one local US review by a BMW reviewer in San Jose, CA that 18s look way too small.

Not liking how rental cars stand out more with the white permanent fleet sticker on the rear license plate. Makes them easier for thieves to spot, especially in SF.

Transmission killed the deal for me. I had a similar problem with my 2018 civic and it's downright dangerous to have the car not move from a stop immediately. The infotainment system kind of sucks because I am not using voice control. Otherwise I would probably have pulled the trigger.

i take off/deactivate the on/off start/stop (which you have to do every time you start the car --- I use their shortcut to get to that screen) and eliminates that lag off the start. I am satisfied with my MSport since receiving it April 10th !

no way you can get 5.5 from 6.5 seconds. most likely there was an error. no manufacturer is so stupid as to undersell/udermine its products.

BMW does it all the time. Most BMW's are easily faster than listed. The X1 xdrive25e we ordered does 0-100 km/h in 6.8s (listed). Reviewers tested the car to go 6.3s 0-100 km/h (it was even with 2 passengers).

@@koenvanderveer9233 definitely not by 1 second less. this is HUGE! no one is so stupid to do this. they could have easily marketed it better had it been correct. most likely there is an error involved.

​@@Andrei-kh6kr The xdrive28i goes from 0-60mph in 6.2s (listed). Reviewers got to 5.5s ish. I'm just saying that it isn't uncommon for BMWs to be listed a bit slower than they actually are.

@@koenvanderveer9233 and I am saying it most likely was some kind of error. Period. Almost a second less is huge at those times. Errors are possible you know.
