This video is so meditative. They are just pounding that pavement. A really intimate look at some of the top top athletes in the world I can't even fathom the pace they're running at and how they're able to sustain that pace for over 26 miles. Just insane.

I wonder why he (Kipchoge) even took initiative to lead the pack ? Did he wants to control the tempo of race? and miscalculated other's ability to hang with him at suicidal Pace for such a long time ? But Cheet was pretty clever ran a very smart race.

Kipchoge paced everyone and almost everyone was just drafting behind him, until it was time to pounce on him. It's not easy to be number 1. Everyone is gunning for you. It's not easy just because he makes it look easy. Kipchoge is different. He loves and respects the game so much.
@meangirlbecca

yeah that's what I came to say as well. Almost felt like they all "used" him and then "discarded" him when the time came. I'm sure they all had a strategy of winning against him. Hope he also figures something out to counter the competitors next time.
@Slow_Lee
@Slow_Lee Жыл бұрын
@@meangirlbecca Kipchoge understands that's the game though. That's why it's extra tough on him during racers compared to anyone. And the greatest will readily take on that challenge and live with the results.

They were going way to fast since the beginning, and Boston course is the most difficult one, as kipchoge being first time on this course he started way to hard I think they were going 2:50 per KM, once they pased the half maraton they speed up just making it impossible and blew himself out, Scott Fauble talked about that, and he said he knew most of them were not being able to keep up like that. Fauble beat all the Americans in the pack and he was behind them. Conner Mantz was his first marathon ever, the only experienced were kipbruto, Chebet, Geay and CJ they knew kipchoge was digging his own hole.

@jakerussell135
@jakerussell135 Жыл бұрын
ive seen some stuff about kipchoge's breathing. He has a Vo2 max of about 80, which is certainly exceptional, but less than most people would have expected (probably closer to 90). that is superhuman is how efficiently he uses his air. yes, he breathes through his mouth, but he uses his air so efficiently that he barely needs to. he uses as much on a marathon as you or I would use on an easy run

They eventually did the first half in less than 1h. Some of the runners on this lead pack were way over their most optimal pace for the full distance and paid for it on the second half. I guess the chance to run next to Kipchoge was priceless.

@Evan Young so this was mile 9 and by mile 18 Connor was no where in sight.. why? Because Connors marathon pace is no where near kipchoges. What were they running at mile 9 probably like 4:40 a mile? If mantz can't keep that up for an entire marathon why is he running that? Even if it is early on why? You're gonna gas yourself out. Like I said mantz is a good runner man im not taking anything away from him. He's gutsy but he could've ran a quicker time if he would've ran his own race

Who are the people running along side them…just fans?? That’s pretty awesome that they are allowed to just run alongside greatness like that. @ChrisTanner
@ChrisTanner Жыл бұрын
Wow, yea, I was shocked to see that this is allowed. It seems really inconsiderate of the fans to run alongside them -- it's potentially distracting the runners just so that the fans can have a few seconds of video.
@thru_and_thru
@thru_and_thru Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisTanner Yeah for sure I would have thought this wouldn't be allowed but similar to cycling it's hard to police 26 miles of road. I'm sure these guys are laser focused and probably don't acknowledge the chasing fans but yeah definitely the first time I have seen this in a marathon. Gotta admit, this is some pretty amazing footage.
