Oh my gosh. This is EXACTLY the type of video and content I’ve been looking for in running. There’s so many videos on current competitions in the NCAA, how to train better, etc. But I think they miss the entertainment aspect. This should be fun! Nobody watches a college basketball game to JUST talk about statistics. They want the drama and the dunks. And you really talked about that and nailed that in this video. You made it a movie. It was fun! Really good stuff. Definitely a new subscribers, and I hope you keep at it

Kipchoage said it had nothing to do with the water bottle. He had a right upper leg injury. Doesnt know what type injury yet. To speculate what happened before the guy speaks is just crazy. Wait and see before you start speaking.

Kipchoge represented what every non elite and recreational runner experiences. The grit, determination and persistence of not quitting of pushing through was evident in yesterday's marathon. Think I loved him even more as his humility showed up and out even more!!!

This truly shows he’s the greatest of all. Even though he wasn’t first, he finished the race. What a testament to the running community. Even for us average runners, when it doesn’t go our way, just finish the race. I enjoyed watching him run even if he wasn’t first

Oh my goodness what a great recape of Kipchoge’s Boston Marathon. Your comments about his mindset and character were spot on consistent with his interview in Boston at FanFest on Saturday. And he was a rockstar with the crowds. I wondered how he could make so many public appearances before a big race too. Thank you so much for this review of our great marathoning hero. It even made me feel better about my 9th Boston today too.

Fantastic analysis! Kipchoge has since said his left leg was not coming up. The marathon is a beast and the distance is to be respected on any given day. I loved that he still finished the race even though he wouldn’t win. His mindset and determination is so inspirational. And he really does run with his heart and for the purpose of inspiring others. I’m sure we’ll see him rebound with his characteristic resiliency. Side note - it was really fun to watch Connor Mantz hang with that lead pack for SO long!!! It’ll be fun to watch his career unfold as well.
@runelitecoach

Absolutely! Thanks for the update. I saw a press conference that he just did today. He says he'll. likely be back. Just love this guy! And yeah, Mantz is a beast! I was blown away by his NCAA performance, and this was on maybe another level. He ran so hard, blew up a bit towards the end that probably cost him a spot or two, but that's what this is about yeah? Thanks Heidi

Good review! And I agree, nobody has defeated Kipchoge, just because he didn't win this race doesn't mean he's defeated. To defeat Kipchoge someone would have to: a) Break his World Record, b) get 2 Olympic Gold medals in a row, c) Run under 2 hours (in same controlled conditions if you will), d) win as many marathons as he has, and most importantly, f) all of the above.

Yes!!! Yes!!! I ran Boston for the first time. I was heartbroken with how I did. My time was way slower, GI problems, forgot to fuel. I finished but ended up in the medical tent for hypothermia. I said Never again!!!! Never!!! My friend tagged me on his IG. Saying it wasn't his race and that it's okay. That moment my mind changed. Knowing even the G.o.A.t has bad race and this was one of them. Then I'm okay to have a bad one too. ❤️ Love him

Way to go. Not just with your race, but your attitude towards what happened. It's not the end of the world...of course! Unlock your feeling of success before toeing the line...and you can't fail. There's always another race. And even if there wasn't, it's still not the end of the world. We only run (or do anything) so that we'll feel a certain way when we're done. We want the feeling. Not the time. We just think the time will give us the feeling...haha. So great job on allowing yourself to feel ok with the issues you had.

I like how Kipchoge downplays any issues. When he got sick during the London marathon he later said he just had an earache. Then in a press conference after this race he said he "tweaked his leg". I'm sure it was more than just a small tweak. At this level even a small issue can destroy your race. He's always humble & never complains. It's impossible to always compete at your best. Even Usain Bolt lost from time to time.

My 2 cents: he was forced to pace, the cold weather slowed him down a bit, and maybe towards the end, he didn’t push because he didn’t want to further aggravate his left leg, thinking long term. He looked mostly comfortable when he crossed the finish line, whereas others were a bit anguished. I think he knew he was not going to win at some point during the race and had to re-strategize

@runelitecoach
@runelitecoach Жыл бұрын
Translation for others: I enjoyed Eliud even more despite not finishing first. I saw him hit a "wall" after passing the 30km mark, dropping to 8th place. I could see his legs becoming stiff with less bounce and rhythm, and I felt for him. He still managed to hold on until the end and was able to climb back up to 6th place. Any champion in this situation may have preferred to give up rather than have the "shame" of finishing in the top 10. This proves that he has a lot of humility and respect for his competitors and the organizers. Eliud will always be a champion in my eyes, regardless of his place. At 38 years old, he needs to maintain the pace as he does.

Next year, the organizers must place an extra table of extra water bottles or sports drink in case a runner misses a drink. For a prestigious and historic race such as Boston, extra water bottles must be provided, especially for elite racers. This lack of extra drinks oversight is simply unexcusable for a world marathon major.
@runelitecoach
@runelitecoach Жыл бұрын
Kipchoge still has access to the other stations, but it's up to him to supply his own mix in his bottles.I don't think he was dehydrated or anything, it's more of just missing his own bottle. Which the race can't supply.

I also think the alphafly 2s were a mistake on this course under these conditions. The alphafly 2 is already a fairly heavy shoe comparatively to say the vaporfly 2/3 or Adios pro 3. Running in any shoe in the rain also tends to bring on water weight. I can’t help but think that the already fairly heavy alphafly losing its efficiency advantage and also probably not having great traction could have hurt him. The podium was filled with lighter shoes on fantastic runners.
