Heres a suggestion, if you never tried an off-roading…maybe try a “first time, off-road short trail” video for those who never off-road before (like myself).

Thanks very much for the suggestion! I hope to do a video like this sometime soon!

You're on winter blend gasoline right now as well, which returns lower economy. See what it does with summer blend. Although, the downside is summer blend is more expensive.

Excellent info and something I failed to mention in the video! Thanks for the comment!

I’m averaging just under 16mpg on 35” tires. My stock ZR2 was getting just over 18, but I went from the stock 33” Good Years to Mickey Thompsons that weigh 70 pounds each.

Did you do anything other than just putting the 35’s on, like an offset or an additional lift? I’ve read that rubbing occurs on the ZR2 if you put 35’s on without cutting away parts of the wheel wells, but just something I read and not sure if it’s accurate.

I’m getting 17 mpg on my ZR2 driving normally with a little bit of fun. Mine has around 3500 miles on it right now. I have a Bison edition getting built and should be land within a month.
@KevinExclamationPoint8 ай бұрын
Nice! Would love a Bison but for the price I’d probably go with a full size instead, unless I won the lottery. I’ll bet the MPG on those dips under 16 with the same driving you do now. Let me know how the MPG on the Bison winds up. Thanks!

Hello, newly subscribed, you ask so nicely, I do get worse mileage in the winter season up in canada with 4x4 / auto. It's better in the summer if I dont drive with the windows down, I just like the turbo sound.

Hey! Thanks very much for subscribing and the comment. I’ve yet to experience the turbo whistle as I’ve had my truck in winter only so far. Things will hopefully warm up here soon for me to give it a listen!

My first tank was 9mpg average. Was horrible. 2nd was 11 mpg. On my third and highway I got 19 mph at 25 mile setting at 80 mph. What I’m trying to figure out is , is it supposed to run on 91 octane? My v6 2022 zR2 didn’t get good MPG for the first 1500 miles . After that it ran awesome. Just my info. Hate the new mpg tracking on the new model. Never matches the console vs screen. 🤷♂️

So far I’ve averaged just over 18 MPG, hand calculated. Some tanks I’ve gotten closer to 20 in the warmer months. Anything over the advertised 16 MPG is a win in my books. I only use 87 octane as that’s what the engineers designed the engine to run on. Thanks for the comment!

How many transmission gears? Rear end ratio please?

8 speed transmission with a 3.42 RAR.

Does trip 1 include all the idle time/low speed during transit and dealer prep etc? I keep trip 1 for my lifetime but I reset when I take ownership. So on my 21 Sierra my trip 1 has 6 less miles then the total lifetime miles. But those first 6 miles had a ton idle time which kills the mpg especially at the beginning when you don't have many miles to fix the average...
@KevinExclamationPoint8 ай бұрын
Trip one is since before I took delivery. It’s from mile zero on the truck. I took delivery at 11 miles on the odometer. So it will include all the pre delivery idling and perhaps some spirited test drives. I only reset trip 2 every time I fill up.

That is amazing, one of the reasons i did not get this truck (i love the way it looks) is the MPG. I get 14 city 18hwy all day long on my lifted Ram 1500 on 35x12.5 tires. I cannot understand why a 4 cylinder truck gets such bad fuel economy
@KevinExclamationPoint8 ай бұрын
Yeah, not the best, but a trade off for the capability compared to a full size truck. If only they kept the outgoing diesel option or put the 3.0L Duramax from the Silverado/Sierra trucks in the Colorado/Canyon trucks. That might affect payload though, as I believe it’s a heavier engine. Anyway, thanks for the comment!
@elche19768 ай бұрын
You can't understand why it gets the mileage it does? It's due to the weight. The colorado only weighs a few hundreds pounds less than many trims of the Silverado. You think the name "midsized" or 4 cylinder negates the fact it is a big as what full sized used to be?
@KevinExclamationPoint8 ай бұрын
@@elche1976 the Silverados and the Sierras with this engine get better fuel economy, and they weigh a bit more. The off road equipment is what hurts mpg here and quite possibly the 8 speed transmission instead of the 10 speed in the larger trucks.

I'm getting 18.5 so far through 2,500 miles on my zr2
@KevinExclamationPoint6 ай бұрын
Nice. I just got 18.3 on the last tank. Warmer weather certainly makes a difference.
