@@gokhansemin5547 lol Im running e55 making 566whp@7600rpm on 2000cc injectors with Hondata e50 is possible on stock turbo and makes around 450whp or so The FL5 turbo is a little different so I want to see if it can flow more than the FK8 turbo at full tilt

The limit is 100 octanes RON fuel ( with standard ECU ). If you want to win power with 102 octanes ron fuel, for example, then you must change some parameters of the ECU or put on a different ECU.

The "93 octane" appears to help with timing corrections since the torque curve is smoother. Maybe there are also IAT compensations that are limiting ignition advance?

I found a place in Central Wisconsin that thankfully sells 110 Octane here in Central Wisconsin where 91 is pretty much the highest across the state. Hate it. So I'm gonna run half tank of 110 and 91. As my 04' Passat 1.8T Sleeper Wagon takes minimum 91.

Track day in my C7 Grand Sport and 2022 Civic Type R catches me. Let him pass and I tried chasing….He kept pulling away even in the short straights.

Any difference with engine cooling when on the dyno compared to the fk8 ? 😊

The dyno test procedure for the FK8 and FL5 are identical and have been for 20 years. However to read a little into your reply, yes the FK8 cooling for racetrack use was not adequate. The FL5 front seems to funnel more air to the radiator. Cooling temps under a sustained high load were not tested on the dyno.

So the FL5 in asian and european countries are rated at 93 octain and their car is advertised 10 more HP than in North American’s FL5. If adding higher octane doesn’t boost HP in North American FL5, does that mean it needs to be tuned to handle 93 octane? If so, can we simply flash the european/asian cars FL5 tune to north american FL5, given that 93 octane is available?

I think the only reason the fk8 is faster in a straight line is because of thinner tires and less functional aero. Hondata, what do you think is the biggest improvement from the new car and why did you buy it? Can’t wait to see more on this fl5!

Nice video. One aspect I don't really understand. The top design engineer for this car has apparently spent many years making minor adjustments to get the most out of the engine/gearbox/ecu etc for optimum performance. How can Hondata come along and I'm guessing will improve the performance by another 20%~..... doesn't really make sense

@@HondataInc How different is this to wheel horsepower? Because I have not seen any of the dynos of the stock fl5 pushing 327 to the wheels, the ones I have seen show like low 300's to high 200's.

In Europe we Use 98 Octans fuel and we get 326 hP....in stock

You get 98 Ron which is not octane - Google the difference. We get e85 at the pump which is 105 octane

I am looking at the power output from the stock FL5 335hp from a 2.0T 4cyl. Thats brilliant work. But then I look across and I see the same company with 3.0T V6 that only makes 355hp. What on earth is Honda doing? That TLX could have comfortably made 400hp from the factory.

Honda sucks since the end of the s2k. everything they've done since has been an absolute failure as far as performance goes. real shame. this is coming from a die hard Honda guy.

0 point on FWD car... you need AWD like Golf R or AMG A45S, grip is problem.. you can have 1000 HP when you cannot get on the track

They use another measure for octane, 91 us is 95 in Europe and 93 us is 98 Eu

@@VarioFelce also in Europe we have 100 a 101 octane. Diff power and consumption depends from etanol - 5 or 10%. With 0% etanol is almost hard to find gas anywhere.

Doug mentioned that they use this Dyno for reference. Not all dynos will read the same for a perfect example is the one that Hondata uses reads 317 on a stock Fk8 versus the one at Jsr Engines read 284. That’s something you really want to keep in mind. Also, the new FL5 has two more psi of boost. Until tuning is available we will not know if the FL5 can actually produce more power than the FK8.

So its really got 507Nm of torque? Thats about 20% higher than Honda says

@@1bojanbojan The scientific way of making a fair comparison is to test on the exact dyno that Honda tests on. We do not have access to that but we have access to thousands of other stock Honda dyno runs. For example we can compare this to a stock FK8 with a similar number of miles accelerating the engine at 500rpm/second to even out the effect of rotational inertia.

That's a fair conversion from lb-ft, but let's look at a torque comparison to the FK8.On that car, which we own, the torque measures 330 lb ft. but more importantly and more accurately is to say is that the FL5 makes 360/330 = 1.09 or 9% more peak torque than the FK8. We have found that all Honda turbo vehicles are under-rated for power and torque.

Is so sad to see that car so high in price. I paid 36k for my Elantra N and $2,500 under the hood and I’m at 365hp. 😂😂. 60k pluse for a 315hp car is dumbbbb

BUYER BEWARE: These are starting to coming back to dealerships (already 3 in my area) with blown turbos (overboost issues) and broken camshafts....in 100% OEM configuration. *NOT GOOD*

93 octane in Europe and USA is not the same. Belive european 93 is close to american 91 and 95 in europe is 93 in the states. In Denmark we also have 100 octane :-D at the pump but no E85 :-(

@@HondataIncif you look at asian and european spec, the same car has 10 More hp. They were saying it’s because North American does not have 93 octane (98 RON) readily available. I wanted to know if we can achieve the euro/asia spec hp? What’s the actual difference that makes North American type r loss 10 HP. I figured if anyone can find out this information, it would be you guys!
