Wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto are available in Ireland. Strange they haven't brought that to Australia for the price. I bought this car last May and it was delivered in October. So far I absolutely love it. I do wish the climate controls were not in the infotainment screen and the controls should be lit up at night, but apart from that I have no significant complaints.

When i was in Cupra last week, was told that it did have wireless Android Auto. Hopefully the car I just ordered does...

@@markoshark4697 The Aussie version doesn't at launch, similarly they haven't implemented the full travel assist and app connection on the first launch due to some technical issues, I was told that could be retrofitted by Cupra at a later stage once they overcome technical hurdles and approvals.

As a long term EV driver this is looking like a good step forward in the fun and design department. I’m confident about the range figures and the braking performance (mist braking is via regen not friction any way) Disappointed no V2L tho. Otherwise looking like a good replacement for the Kona. (Despite being less efficient) As for price, do the sums, it’s the same as a Golf GTi. Or cheaper if u lease and save with the FBT changes. The days of cheap new cars are long gone.

Will be interesting to see the real world driving range of these cars, claimed v actual ranges fluctuate wildly from manufacturer to manufacturer. For example Carwow did a test with a couple of previous model Tesla's and a Polestar in a loop around London - the polestar got 316km against it's claimed 478k max at the time (66%), the std range Tesla 3 got 351km vs claimed range of 446km (79%) and the long range performance got 459km v claim of 564km (81%). All started with 100% charge. The new Tesla 3 RWD with bigger 60kw (v 52kw) LFP battery has a claimed range of 491km and recommends charging to 100% every day so a real world range of around 390km- almost all other cars require a daily charge of 80-90% Translating this the Current version Polestar 2 long range claim of 515km - this could be as little a 339km at 100% charge, and actual everyday practical range of 271 to 305km if charged 80-90% I suspect the claimed 511km range will actually turn out to be similar to the Polestar 2.

My 2023 Tesla 3 RWD 55 KwH has a real world range of ... 450 km!! Driven 6.000 km until now. Always charge 100%.

@@jandriesprong1066 I believe the new model 3 RWD added range and lost some outright performance - these were with the older models - also less than ideal conditions in a cooler UK climate - Brisbane , Sydney or SoCal weather would help significantly.

My round trip to work is 50% freeway and 50% suburban / city and 160.2km - I have made 3 round trips on a single charge and had 3% left pulling into my drive. I precondition before I leave home.

It depends partially on how you drive, but more on where you are driving and the outside temperature. For non EV users, they are always surprised to hear that the best economy is town driving/mixed, rather than highway. And summer temperature help a great deal. Usable range isn't 100-0%, nobody arrives home, or to a charging station with 0%. My Born averages about 16kw/100KM when driving my 16km daily commute, mostly town driving with a small amount of 80-100 km/h driving, in warm weather This would give a theoretical range of 480km, far more than a Polester 2. Highway driving tends to be about 20KW/100km in warm weather, at around 110km/h average, range 385km, but in D mode, you still get a slight regen when "coasting", then it's not too hard to achieve 400km+ range at all. Come winter, you can take 20% off these figures easily, then take 50km off again to allow to reach home or a charger with at least 10% battery left.

Why are so many reviewers missing the fact that such a heavy, sporty, 60,000 dollar car has rear drum brakes? Surely this hasnt saved cupra massive amounts in the design and production phase and it is essentially on all modern cars

I heard Weight and the batteries is one of the main problems. The breaks suffer if thing Weight to much. And if something happens to the batteri you have to replace it all. So my question is what Electric cars has they fixed the Weight problems. And Can parts of the batteries be fixed instead you have to replace the whole batteri. Ive heard that instead of fixing the cars they sometimes scrap em, because it Will be to expensive to fix em. Sincerly me

Batteries are heavy, so there's no fixing the weight issue with current battery technology. If you want a longer range, you need a bigger battery. Electric vehicles have regenerative braking systems to recharge the battery, so the brake pads will probably last the life of the car. Yes, you can replace individual battery cells. Batteries built with the latest tech will have an extremely long life.

Battery cars are not necessarily heavier than petrol / diesel cars. For example a 2021 Tesla 3 standard range + weighs 1612kg, a similar sized Audi A4 45 TFSI from the same year weighs 1685kg - A 2019 Audi Q5 50tdi weighs 2120 kg and a Tesla Model Y long range with 2 motors weighs 1979kg.

350 miles is "mid-range".....this pos only gets 317. Call me when you get to 500 MILES.....500 MILES is the minimum bar EVs must achieve to compensate for LONG charge times. In the meantime, I'll stick with my 450 Mile range ICE suv that is BIGGER, Lighter, less expensive and requires only 120 seconds to top-off its 18 gallon GAS ⛽️ tank😉
