Tiffany’s largest market is definitely the US. I read an article not too long ago about LVMH trying to expand its reach in Europe and Asia.
@jessicadawson2353 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it doesn’t surprise me that Tifdany is bigger is the US. It’s a NYC company, and it’s always had a very “American” feel to me:
@Alisha-hs8xj Жыл бұрын
In Sweden we only in the last year or so got a Tiffany store so I definitely think it’s less common here. I think it’s cheaper to buy jewelry from the top brands in EU direct from the boutique like Cartier. The used jewelry I’ve seen for sale on Vestiaire is higher priced than new from boutique 😅 I think it’s mostly sellers and buyers in Asia because it’s less easy to come by there but here Cartier is quite common and prices are better than outside EU.

@forever-rosebud Жыл бұрын
Hi Cassie! Another great one, as always. Have no idea if this would interest you, but I have a video suggestion: there's an ongoing idea about certain brands not holding their value on the resale market; however, is that still true or is it one of those things that we keep repeating as a fact (because it was once so), unaware of that not being the reality anymore? The constant price increases seem to be having an unexpected effect: some brands, like Dior and Prada (among others), appear to be performing much better (increasing their "investment" value); other brands (traditionally viewed as the "good investment" ones) not so much (example: it used to be a certainty that you could always sell your Chanel or LV bags for a profit, or at least without loosing money, but that doesn't seem to always be the case anymore... Not sure if this would be of interest, but hope so :) Congratulation on the new podCASS, by the way! What a fabulous name :))) 💛

Such a great video! so interesting to know different US cities have different top searches- and of course it makes a lot fo sense based on our various weather patterns and attitudes towards clothes. And the fact that DC's most searched item was bracelets makes a lot of sense, altho I wouldn't have necessarily guessed it right away- the rest definitely clicked as soon as you said them.I also thought it was interesting that Europe was searching balenciaga while the US wasn't- I know Kim kardashain saying she wouldn't wear it anymore might've had a bigger impact here State-side than in Europe but I have heard plenty of non-US influencers say they won't wear it anymore either.

I’m most surprised about St. John. I have a Marie Grey navy wool boucle suit from the 90s, above the knee skirt. The jacket has detachable navy faux fur cuffs and collar. It doesn’t fit me anymore, I really should sell it. But I bought it from a boutique on a layaway plan the day I started my doctoral studies, and the last payment on the day I deposited my dissertation, 3 years later. I should check the price on the LV doctor bag, the one you showed here has the dog on it, not sure if that’s its main value. Over the years the resale has not been good on the plain bag.I think I paid $1100 in 2001, seen it going in the $300-ish range in the past, no way I’m selling it for that. They can bury it with me. It has my important papers, my grab-in-case-of-fire bag. 😅

I have purchased and sold with The Real Real before - they have definitely gotten worse as time has gone on. Everything is about intake/trying to make a buck. And then everything gets rushed onto the website so every now and again things are mislabeled/wrong pics. I will say that it can be a great way to find something for a good price (especially vintage) - but i do worry that they can't sustain the growth they have been having.

Skirts in Brooklyn makes total sense because there are many observant religious women who live there and need skirts below the knee for every day.
@heatherschechter6758 Жыл бұрын
My guess would be that TheRealReal takes possession of all the items they sell -- they can root out fake jewelry and watches before they hit the platform. Vestiare does not take possession. They'll authenticate after the sale but they run the risk of having a site FULL of counterfeit merch that would/could drive down pricing for all jewelry. My two cents.

Ebay is the biggest resale platform in the US, but you can buy/sell anything on it. Including a piece of toast that look like Jesus.... I think Poshmark is also bigger than the RealReal. I can't speak for all US citizens but I don't discriminate on what resale market I use. I like the RealReal, StockX, Rebag, Fashionphile, Yoogi's Closet, Ebay and Poshmark etc. You can find great deals and finds across the spectrum. Great content...but that map shows Chicago...that's actually the location of Detroit.

Interesting that European customer cares less about Balenciaga scandal.
@sepultina Жыл бұрын
@@amandak.4246 I believe this is because European ( older, wealthier) customer associates Balenciaga with the Balenciaga House rather than new street wear ( which I find overpriced, trolling and abhorrent) . May I also remind you that the campaign which caused so much controversy included images of North American case law concerning Supreme Court case United States v. Williams, a ruling that upheld the PROTECT Act, which increased federal protections against child pornography. This case is little known outside USA, though traction was definitely visible globally. I can tell you what I observed among young European professionals with access to good disposable income (and maybe with some college degree, but not particularly intellectually inclined) - Balenciaga is still going strong, trainers, streetwear and casual wear is seen as serious flex. I doubt any of the customers are aware of any controversies, they just follow loop feedback of their peers and copy each other inherently. Demna Gvasalia’s social and fashion influences always striked me as rooted in Düsseldorf ( he lived there from 2001) and that mix of trash, BDSM, “f… off” to the establishment seems to come from his German late teenage and early adult years. I am almost his age peer and that was my perception of fashion in Düsseldorf between 95-2000. In summary, for many your European youngsters the brand brings earning (or pocket money) potential and credibility. Pure flex with somewhat deluded and diluted pseudo punk attitude.
