I modified my boom to a two piece for my last trip. Cut it in the middle and epoxied an aluminum threaded connection.

That one hand clip kinda sell the SLS well.. nothing comes close for light wind downwind on small swell. Someone should 3d Print a piece that quick connect to the 2 handles on the Unit wing, would be the perfect wing :D

I think Wingman makes a middle-handle spanner add-on like that. I sometimes grab my harness line for one handed downwind riding as well. -Tucker

Thanks for the video Tucker. How does the Unit V3 compare to the New Unit D/lab? Are the advantages worth the extra cost for the D/lab? I'm looking specifically at getting a wing for light wind riding. Currently riding with an Echo 3.3 and Echo 4.0 for medium to higher winds.

Hi Bryan, The V2, V3, or D/lab would be a notable upgrade from your Echo in terms of weight and light wind ability. I'd say if you are over 190lbs or like to ride really overpowered the D/lab is totally worth it. It's also a great option for people who spend a lot of hours on the water since it will keep the wing performance for a longer period before fatiguing. - Tucker

Great Video and much appreciated.. I currently am using v3 slingshot. I really like my 4.5 because it has a middle handle that i can reach out and grab on jibes to get that little pull that keeps me on foil. The 3.5 doesn't have a middle handle and I really miss it. I am thinking of getting a different 3,3.5,4 .. Probably about 3.5.. what wing manufacturers have smaller wings with a center of power to easily reach out and grab and what ones do you recommend based on your personal experience? Also for what its worth i am often overpowered with the 3.5 and feel like it may have similar characteristics to what you are describing with the unit and having the grunt which seems to be a negative in higher winds.

Hi Chris, I'd check out the Slick SLS. The mini-boom gives you limitless grip options and it is more forward pulling for a smoother ride in high winds. -Tucker
