There were effectively two parts to the Mexican GP - and Red Bull's Max Verstappen won them both. From P3 on the grid, he led out of the first corner - and he was still ahead when the race was red-flagged at half distance (when Kevin Magnussen hit the barrier after a suspension failure on his Haas-Ferrari). Now on the pole for the re-start, Max again led again through to the chequered flag, thereby scoring a record-breaking 16th race win of the season. Local hero, Red Bull's Sergio Perez, was eliminated in the first corner after ambitiously attempting an outside pass; Lewis Hamilton drove beautifully to finish second for Mercedes and to set fastest lap; Ferrari's Charles Leclerc worked miracles with a damaged car to finish third ahead of his team-mate, Carlos Sainz; and McLaren's Lando Norris, who started 17th, finished fifth in a great recovery drive. Peter Windsor in this video looks at the key aspects of a spectacular race, watched locally by over 400, 000 spectators.
