Hey bro. None of your steps worked but thank you so much for making an effort. You’re a legend. My Face ID stopped working for several hours today, it would not recognise my face, I tried to reset it and it continued not recognising my face. I tried everything and then I gave up until suddenly it just came back to life even after Apple Support said there’s an issue with my software and I need to bring it to an Apple Store for repair. Never trust an online technician. Keep trying and trying.

Give your phone a firm tap against your palm it’s a sensor issue should work after that but you will most likely need to replace your phone, so far it’s still working for me

Same. Everything’s worked fine since I got it a week and a half ago… I don’t need an update, I’ve done a forced restart, I’ve reset my settings and nothings working. I’ve had a screen protector on since I got it and I’ve never ever dropped it or even put it down too hard. All of a sudden this morning in Uni it wouldn’t recognise my face. After resetting Face ID I’m now completely unable to even press the Set up Face ID button as it doesn’t seem to be programmed to do anything anymore? I’ve done the reset of settings twice and force restart several times to no avail. My phones literally brand new. 🥲

Wow. Deleting the previous failed attempts worked. I was having trouble since this morning. After I deleted and restarted my phone it was doing that thing over and over again. I wasn’t able to use Face ID. And now it’s fixed thanks to you.

Got up this morning to find the facial recognition feature on my iPhone 15 Pro was no longer working. I did the obvious and gave the front facing camera a clean, to no avail. I hopped on KZbin and this was the first video I found related to my issue. In the opening minutes you explained how software updates can suspend the facial recognition feature if you aren’t installing the latest version when it becomes available.I paused this video, went into my settings to find iOS 17.5.1 had dropped but it hadn’t automatically installed. So I manually downloaded and installed it and within 9 minutes facial recognition was back up and running! Thank you for a super informative video which resulted in a straight forward, quick fix which in turn saved me a 74 kilometre round trip, in a really hot car!

I updated my software, but that wasn’t the problem, could be for some so I’d still do that. The fix: I had a screen protector that was not too old but had a bunch of cracks in it. I simply removed that and it worked immediately. However it still looked like the camera focus was struggling but again ended up setting up with an instant. It only does that for the Face ID, not my actual front camera. Appreciate the tip!

So….I made a comment and wanted to update….I went into the Apple Store on 4/2/23…After numerous attempts to factory reset the entire device, at the Apple Store they ran a diagnostic and confirmed I had a hardware failure for a bad TrueDepth sensor. More than likely, this has gone bad!!! I am supposed to be getting sent a new phone.

I ended up going to the Apple Store and they just replaced the camera for free because it's under warranty, they're not usually gonna give you a whole new phone as the fix is much cheaper.

I ended up getting mine repaired for free under the 1 year limited warranty. It should only take about 30-40 mins at an Apple store equipped with the right parts for your phone model.

Thank you for posting this video, even tho nothing has worked for me. My dad just repaired my battery and put a brand new one into my iphone (which means he completely took out the screen to do it) and then after I turned my iPhone back on, suddenly my face-id wasn’t working. It says that the TrueDepth camera sensor was disabled for safety reasons. I‘m still looking for a solution but I think the only thing that could work is actually going to a phone repair and then they‘ll see what’s going on there
