In high school I built a jeep cherokee and installed 35" tires and it drove like absolute trash. Death wobble, slow, body roll, etc. So this is a dream to drive in comparison to other off-road vehicles including the wrangler. Hope you get to try out one of the higher end models! Even still, that’s so dumb. Every other SUV can have their seats go flat by pulling a single lever or strap and pushing the seat down. In 1991, age 19, I moved from northwest Australia to Reno and got my first car. A 1986, 6-cylinder, full-size Bronco, an ex-mining vehicle in base trim, tan outside and tan inside. It had a big Warn winch on the massive black bull bar. I loved that vehicle and drove it the whole eight years I lived in the USA. Then I moved back to Australia and bought a Hilux, then a VW Amarok, which I just sold to get the new RWD long-range Polestar 2.

Apparently you CAN fold the seats further down to make them parallel with the floor, but you have to: 1. Move the front seats forward a bit 2. Fold up the seat bottom (there's a latch under the seat bottom) 3. Fold down the seat back 4. Move the front seats back. And even then they're a little higher than the cargo floor, but definitely flatter than just folding down the seat back. But it's clearly not obvious how to do this given the number of threads on Bronco forums I got about this from a simple google. Good job, Ford.
@theandrew999 Жыл бұрын
I have a Pontiac Vibe that's like that. I have to move the front seat to get the back seats to go flat. I assumed that about the Bronco in this video too. Everything about the Bronco is cool in my opinion except for the price. It should be under $30k. It's not a luxury vehicle.

I know many will say real Broncos only have 2 doors. But if you want practical space and room for 3 in the back, get the 4 door. I have a 4 door manual, and instead of paying a huge mark up for the Sasq package, I opted for the Badlands with a Lux package. I had to wait for over a year to get the one I ordered and the dealership honored original sticker for it. Def worth the wait. Badlands is as narrow as a non squatch but has tires that measure 33" tall. Sasq tires are rated at 35" but only measure 34". The larger touch screen with the 360 cam is very useful for every day driving and parking. If you are buying a Bronco it is because you want some retro fun, so get the manual transmission.

I cant imagine trying to get up any kind of grade and spin some 33"'s with a 2.3L 4 banger (the only available engine in manual). Growing up my buddy had some 35" tires on his v8 lifted Bronco, with a big winch and it was impressive what that thing would go up. The updated pos is a far cry from what Bronco used to mean and be capable of in terms of real off-roading. The new one reminds me of the hummer brand. No its not a Hum-V but it kinda looks enough like one to appease the 40 year old little boy behind the wheel who always wanted the real deal. Edit- If they just went ahead and threw a real motor in a rig that heavy it wouldn't have don't that much worse on fuel. I guess they know exactly who they are trying to sell this thing to; The guy at the tech company who considers himself a rough and tumble outdoorsman but rarely, if ever gets his shoes or tires off of the blacktop. @@jamescaldwell5My daily driver 3.2L v6, 24 valve manual 5 speed Isuzu rodeo from 1997.. has 60,000 miles and came from my dads buddy who went blind in late 90's and kept it in his garage for 20+ years because it was his baby. He had his wife drive it once a week or so to get groceries so it wasn't just sitting and was inspected and everything when I obtained it and basically rust free. Has a solid truck frame and a towing package which is exceptionally rare on modern suv's.. Its the best vehicle and offroader I have ever owned. Its as tall as the og Broncos used to be (almost to the point of appearing lifted, way more clearance than any newer SUV's on the market) and is a clear copy to compete in the same market.. Even has a tailgate and mock name based on the Bronco. I guess my experience living in mountainous VT is that 4 cylinder engines on something as heavy as a normal car never mind an SUV require excessive downshifting to get up anything steep and maintain the speed limit.. I'm sure its a decent vehicle where its flat and you don't need that much clearance.. but where I live my Rodeo has barely enough engine for it's weight. Just getting to a number of my friends homes on unmaintained dirt tracks can be an adventure where I live out in rural VT and many people really need a 4wd daily driver with some clearance.. I just personally think that for the money a person could do a lot better than the new Bronc. I would keep your eyes peeled and shop around for something older and throw some cash into upgrades and new parts. $50-90,000 goes a long way towards rebuilding a legendary offroader compared to relying on the boys at Ford. Plus I prefer something pre electronics that I can wrench on myself. In terms of something new I would get a v6 SR5 TRD Toyota pickup or 4 Runner in standard 5 speed But I would lean towards the Tacoma, It meets all the same needs of my current SUV if you get the 4-door and throw a cap on it.. I cant say I'm incredibly impressed with how flimsy newer Suv's and offroaders in general are in todays newer vehicle market. They aren't made to take a beating like they used to be.

I think its biggest problem nowadays is that it was made in a ford factory and designed by Ford engineers to sell vehicles and look good not to be durable and feel good driving. I own a 2023 2 door base manual Sasquatch and my headliner is fine, it drives great and is fun to drive, it's not perfect, but the top comes off, and the doors too and it's a fun lifestyle vehicle. IT"S NOT A soccer moms luxury SUV, it's a life style vehicle for those that want it. My temporary car I drove while waiting for mine to be built was a fun "zoom-zoom" Mazda3, but it was boring compared to the Bronco. I have been to the mountains and the desert and explored places a more comfortable SUV/CUV just can't go. It's a lifestyle thing! I've owned manuals all my life, both sports cars and Tacoma(s) TRD 4x4 and I love my Bronco. I been to Moab for a week doing trails including Hell's Revenge & Fins and Things, and out of the box it a highly capable wheeler, taking my ass down some truly butt clenching stuff and I've got years of wheeling in my Tacoma(s) and previous trucks. It's crawler gear had me hanging in my seat with the seat belt holding me back and it's approach and departure angles had me sure I'd scrape bumpers at the bottom with a steep "U" shaped, but it didn't; my old Tacoma would have. I've been on many wheeling outings with other owners going places I didn't want to, but the Bronco handled it! Bent up a pair of sliders because the run off from record snows made a boulder field extremely treacherous, after washing away all the smaller rocks and dirt, but no damage to the Bronco other than a few scratches on the skid plates. The sliders did their job and were replaceable. Thanks to price protection and ordering, I only paid $37K for my Sasquatch, base manual, and today's prices are $17K more than that for one with everything I have, plus a few niceties, so I'm ecstatic, my Bronco is worth more than I paid. I've got 6K miles in road trips with more than a 3rd of that off road and no problems. My gas mileage in town is the only draw back, but I admit, I use the turbos too much to stay with SoCal traffic, I could do better, but the manual is so fun!

Normal people won't off-road these things, but from what I've seen, they do VERY well in the dirt. I've never had a 4WD that wouldn't lurch forward without stalling in 4-Low, except my old Samurai, which only wouldn't because of the 32"s on it. 7.17:1 gears and 33"s solved that, haha! If only they sold this with a V8 (and a stick, but yeah, right, haha!), it would be great. As it is, it's cool looking and capable and is built well enough, but nothing special. I'd have one 5 to 1 over any Toyota (I know it won't be reliable, but I can work on stuff and afford domestic car parts, so that's a wash). It's a cooler Wrangler. Wranglers are cheesy now, too. The 2.3's a proven durable engine, nearly to the point that the old Jeep/AMC 4.0/4.2L was, unless I'm mistaken and it's not the same old Ford/Mazda 2.3L. If anything it made me think "no wonder the S550 Mustang couldn't hit the target to reduce weight", I was guessing the exhaust was built that way just because it had always been built that way (where a Holden exhaust is 1.5mm thick and a Honda exhaust is around 1.2mm thick, albeit with double-walled mufflers).

I know exactly how you feel about the Bronco! I have had 2 real ones..a 88 and a 92. I miss them dearly and had been waiting for the new one for awhile. I was planning on trading my lifted 2012 4Runner in on one but sooo many things just felt "off" when I first sat in the new Bronco. I still haven't driven one but I do tend to get bored with vehicles after a few years...owing approx 25 different vehicles since like 1998 lol. The new Landcruiser and GX550 have things I really like about them but I'm still waiting for the next 4Runner. This new Bronco will always be one of those things that I"could" see myself buying and modding.....but we will see what the future holds.

I can do in my bronco stock what it takes 50 grand to do with a 4runner. But yeah wait for that 4runner. By the time it gets here it will be outdated just like the current ones.

I have an old Ranger. Five speed. It’s gutless, it’s old… and I love it. It’s my SCUBA diving truck (I. A throw everything in the back, even if it’s soaked), and my commuter when it snows (I’m a motorcycle guy, so as long as the roads aren’t frozen, I’m on two wheels). They ever built a new ranger that was as simple, solid and just fun to drive as my old PoS… I’d consider it.

Expecting too much? We just expected an suv that at least halfway lived up to any of the other vehicles released under the same name...

@@isveryniceyes I haven't heard bad things before. "SuperfastMatt" seemed to quite like the design of the suspension and rear axle on the Bronco (the proper one, not the Sport). What do people dislike about the Bronco?

I pondered trading in my 2014 JK Wrangler for a new Bronco but after the massive mark up BS Ford dealers were pulling plus all the issues you mentioned I just went and got a new Tacoma TRD off road instead.

My mom ended up purchasing a 2dr Bronco Sasquatch Black Diamond edition last month. She eneded up building hers and ordering through a dealer in Northern Indiana because there wasn't a single dealer in Wisconsin who would sell for msrp. Long story short she got hers for msrp but its a massive heap a bs that the dealers are shoving in the consumer's faces.
@lucasokeefe7935 Жыл бұрын
@@cyberrednec You should ALWAYS custom order a new car. The markup BS across the entire industry is the result of people wanting to have the new shiny thing right this second instead of having some patience. If you really need a car for the few months it takes to get your custom order, buy a cheap shitbox you can sell at scrap value or for a similar price to what you paid and it will cost you a LOT less than swallowing some greedy dealerships 'market adjustments.'
@Hawk7886 Жыл бұрын
@@lucasokeefe7935custom ordering doesn't guarantee you'll get it at MSRP, they can still tack on a markup when you place the order. Some dealers are horrific with it, others are cool.

I had a Rubicon in the 2010s before trading it for the minivan and the biggest mistake I ever made since I should have fought for that car. I recently have found myself on the market to get another but after some research, I ordered a Badlands Sasquatch a few weeks ago in manual (can't wait to feel that feeling again)...my friends are saying I went to the dark side by not choosing the Rubicon again but I think the Bronco speaks more to me. It's scheduled for build this September wish me luck

@@christophers.4007 You might be right, there. However, the Ranger is also pretty capable off road (electronic locking rear diff, trail crawling mode, big tires, good approach/departure angle, etc), and is substantially more suitable for a daily driver than a massive SUV imo.

Element is a different breed. The only contemporary car to compare would be something like a Santa Cruz. Quirky, okay to drive but ultimately just a funky crossover. The Bronco is an FJ Cruiser. Those things are still selling for at least $10k clapped out.

I have a frame off restored 1977 Bronco that I have been told by many it is the finest, non-show quality, Bronco they have ever seen. It is insured for just above six figures. I have been having it since 1994 and the frame off was done 2 years ago. The new Bronco is nice looking but there is no way I will pay what they are asking for a Tinker Toy quality vehicle. I have a 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Offroad Premium that is light years better than the new Bronco, and I paid $45K for the 4Runner. They can keep-this Tinker Toy Bronco. There is a Base model, its the one you drove... Its a base with Sasquatch and a few options. The seats DO fold flat it takes 20 seconds and its in the owners manual. You can even see the slots where the headrest fold. Ford performance has a tuner that a dealer (or you) can install that adds auto rev matching and on 93 adds a boatload of torque. This also retains the warranty. I have a 2022 2dr Black diamond with the manual and yes it is a HUGE pile of shit in regards to the build quality and fit and finish but I paid MSRP and for some reason I still love the thing despite all of its issues. Jokes on me i guess 😅
