Liked your review. I have watched many on this car. I ended up getting the outer banks, without all the options a month ago. Cost about 35 out the door. Thank YOU for spending extra time covering the 1.5 engine..

Thanks for sharing. Ford Bronco Sport owners feel like they've discovered something special, and I think are desperate to know if they have or are just bonkers. I have a 2023 Heritage Edition with the 1.5 litre Ecoboost, and every day is a new adventure as I discover more and more about it. Today, it snowed, and I got to try my Bronco Sport on a snowy hill and see how the 5-GOAT mode sand/snow edition fared--very competent, as I'd hoped it would be. My friend from childhood---lived across the street 60 years ago--just bought a Big Bend and calls me excitedly almost every night. For a vehicle in the mid 30s (I paid $36,503 including Va. sales tax, tags and registration plus kayak rack) I think I've been given a good deal. Every day, I have to decide whether to drive my Bronco Sport or my FIAT 124 Spider 2-seater roadster (or my wife's Mini-Cooper S!). With the snow yesterday, the answer seemed clear . . . But the point is, ALL are great fun to drive! And this from a fellow who bought as his first new car a 1973 1.6 litre (the BRITISH engine--disastrous, in memory of the Revolution, evidently) PINTO. So you know I know FORD can do shite! So, one more point of reference from this reviewer: my last Ford was a 1995 Ranger.

You have the best shirt in the business lol. I'm a fan of those Patriots and Christians.

I have a 2022 Bronco sport big bend and its a comfortable ride but it has some rattling in the back and the front wheels get trashed with brake dust very fast after cleaning and it I really don't like that. I really wanted a Maverick but couldn't find one. Darn it. Thanks for the great video.

I've never owned a Ford, but I like the boxiness of the Bronco Sport over the oval shape of the Escape (not a big fan of egg-shaped vehicles). I'm looking to replace a 2015 Jeep Patriot (160K miles), but would like a vehicle that can tow around 3000 lbs - the Patriot can tow 2000 lbs but it's a chore. Five passenger seating is all I need, since the kids are basically all out of the house. Have to admit that that engine bay looks like a mess. Good review overall.

yeah, the engine is covered with hoses and wires going everywhere.

Great honest review. I was surprised when you said it got between 32 and 38 mile per gallon one Ford claims 28mpg. For my experience, it’s always been that the vehicles got lower fuel economy than what the manufactures claimed . I specifically interested in fuel economy, either towing or when the vehicle is loaded down pretty heavy. Do you have any info on that?

Unfortunately I only had the vehicle for just a week and a half.

I have a 22 hybrid XLT Maverick and my wife got a 23 Big Bend Bronco sport! The 1.5 is nice and sounds very good. I think it sounds better than most 4 cylinders.

The 1.5 deffentally has some character to it that's for sure

I had the same engine in my 2020 Ford Fusion.. pretty peppy for a 1.5 litre.. it did also idle strange.. I wonderd if they fixed it or not for the Bronco Sport.. I like the looks of the Bronco Sport, considered on trading my XLT Hybrid Maverick on the Heritage Edition Bronco Sport but changed my mind after I figured how much more money I would have to pay... and to be honest I am digging my Maverick hybrid even more because I have added some graphics on the side and hood..

The engine in your Fusion is totally different than the one found in the Bronco Sport

@@jmc6000 .. ok.. I didn't know that.. I thought all 1.5 litre turbo engines were the same..

I have that engine in my 2023 ford escape and at 800 miles... The cylinder head built up shavings in a coolant passage and caused the motor to overheat. Ford is replacing the head but I'm not a super fan of the engine at this point. Make sure you flush the coolant at a 1,000 miles as well as the engine oil. Hopefully it lasts longer than mine.
@jmc60002 ай бұрын
Should not have to flush coolant at 1000 miles. Something was not right with yours from the factory

I've watched dozens of vids on this engine, this is the first to say the 1.5 turbo is both direct AND port injected. Hmm. IF TRUE, that's great, keeps the back of the valves clean of carbon buildup down the road. Anyone else know for sure if this is true?
@jmc60003 ай бұрын
The 1.5 Ford 3 cylinder Ecoboost engines have ALWAYS had both direct and port injection. Now the 1.5 and 1.6 Ford 4 cylinder Ecoboost were direct injection only.

Thanks for info, I'm looking over a 2020 Escape, same engine I guess, for my grandson's first vehicle. Be good if those valves stay clean.@@jmc6000

Is the 1.5 engine found in the 2021 Escape the same dual injected dragon engine? Am looking to buy one for grandson's first car.
