I own a 2007 Ford Escape LT V6, A 2018 Escape Titanium and a 2023 Escape Platinum Hybrid. All have been extremely reliable. The 2007 still runs well with 200K miles (though, just with age, it’s not used for long trips anymore). I have been very happy with my 2018 and was thrilled to see that it still had great pick up even though it was a 4 cylinder (that’s turbo for you!). My newest Escape is the 2023 Platinum Hybrid and I love it. I wish the Heads Up Display worked for my height-it really only works if your seat is low in the car (so I don’t use it). And I’m getting 40+mpg with about 60% hilly highway driving. Overall, I’m a happy driver, with 3 different Escapes, and no major issues. Of course, I do believe in regular maintenance-unlike those who lease cars, or those who buy leased cars.

Ford is recalling more than 125,000 Escape SUVs, Maverick pickups and Lincoln Corsair luxury SUVs because their engines could leak fluids and catch fire. All the vehicles being recalled are hybrid or plug-in hybrid versions. All three models share similar engineering. Jun 6, 2023

I have (had) a 2015 Escape. It got wiped out in an accident. I had VWs before that with the diesel engines getting 50 mpg on highway. I checked all the small SUV hybrids out and for reliability, it seems the consensus is that Toyota Rav4 hybrid and Honda CRV hybrid are the best bets. The best hybrid that I can actually buy right now is the Ford Escape ST Elite Hybrid. Unless I buy a used vehicle that I can use during the 8+ months waiting period to buy a Toyota or Honda, my options are limited. My 2015 Escape was extremely reliable. I hope the hybrid will be too.

I own a 2015 FFH, I was advised by ford to get my brakes replaced by 60k miles. The cost is quite high,at the time I had 45k mikes and I also needed to replace my tires. Took my car to American Tire depot (they offered better tires, warranty and price). I told them I wished they did brakes and they said they did. I told them what ford told me, bewildered the techs told me that’s odd. I said odd how? American tire depot techs advised me that my hybrid doesn’t need new brakes until I reach 95k miles if I drive poorly and / or 125k if I drive well. Needless to say, is it possible Ford recommends themselves poorly? I love my 2015 FFH and yes I will be looking to upgrade in the near future.

I hope you get to review the 2023 Ford Escape PHEV~ it allows you to run on the gas engine only and 'save' the electric for later. Perfect if you have a highway commute & then city driving.

I own a 2014 Ford C-Max hybrid. It has been economical and reliable and well made. That is the reason I stayed with Ford, my latest is a 22 Escape PHEV. It is even better. With all the problems out there this drive train is well proven and bullet proof. I no longer trust or even like Toyota or Honda. I almost got a Kia Sportage hybrid which was the nicest of them all in the top trim. But I don't trust their reliability. I think Escape is the best price and best MPG, but so far no AWD available in the plug in version.

Yes, Ford did have problems with their Ecoboost once upon a time….coolant intrusion via the head gasket. Toyota had sludge problems in their engines once upon a time. All you people need to do better and up your game. You’re living in the past. The new Escape is a wonderful, dependable SUV.

Ford hybrids have a very good reputation for reliability for over 25 years. The only hybrid that has had reliability problems is the F150 hybrid. Ford uses the Toyota hybrid system on its hybrids except for the F150. The new Nautilus Hybrid, I'm not sure.
Is it true that the entire line of Ford Escape is going to be discontinued in a few years.
@Ricky-mo6mv Жыл бұрын
This certainly looks better after the refresh. The front end looks way better, and the interior appears to be of better quality. Looks can be deceiving though. It’s definitely not the worst looking SUV out there. That award is definitely shared by the Chevy Equinox and Subaru Forrester.

Is the Ford reliability issue really that big or is just hyped up
@AlexPerez-kt5sj Жыл бұрын
It’s not hyped. It’s probably understated. I had a 2019 ford eco sport bought brand new off the lot and had non stop issues with squeaking, engine light coming on in hot weather, both seat warmers failing at just 30k miles, and both the radio and rear wiper both stopped working at the same time around when the warranty expired. I traded it in about 1k miles after the warranty ended and I’ve never looked at another new Ford again. Would not recommend.
@302Mustang13 Жыл бұрын
It's hyped. I'm on my 6th new Ford (half were Mustangs as a second vehicle) and I've had three used Ford vehicles. None have ever had any significant issues. Up until last year, my most expensive failure was one alternator at $200 that I replaced myself. No engine or transmission issues either and my last Ford had 240k miles when I got rid of it. Take good care of them and do excellent maintenance and they'll last as long as anything else. As for the guy with the EcoSport, it's a cheap vehicle built overseas and not a good example of Ford.
@michaelsheedy Жыл бұрын
Ford says about 1% of its hybrids have suffered engine failure so far. My Escape hybrid is 40 months old and no problems. Engine only runs about 40% of the time.
@michaelsheedy Жыл бұрын
Yeah Ben....I don't get the Platinum trim. More money for less than ST Line. The ST Line looks better and costs less. The Platinum has plastic cladding like my SE and drab contrasting stitching like my Escape. At least I only paid $34,000 including 7% sales tax and expensive FL transfer fees. Ford needs to end the Escape Platinum or offer much more for the money.

Is This Better Than A Toyota Hybrid? If you have the AWD, the answer is YES for traction on slippery conditions. The hybrid platform is very much tested over several generations. A very reliable car.
@fkillah Жыл бұрын
Ridiculous. I drove this for a week. The Bluetooth connection is laggy, the music plays well after the engine is turned off, it wouldn’t shift to D one time so I had to restart it. And most importantly, Toyotas are reliable and consistent. I guarantee you this car will break down faster
@corujariousa Жыл бұрын
@@fkillah 1) You started very aggressive and your comments did not at all fit into mine. The AWD superiority of the Ford and Honda hybrids over the Toyotas have been tested by many different sources. It is not a matter of opinion. Just do some research and you'll be able to confirm that; 2) For the points you mentioned. Have you considered you might have done something wrong w/ the Bluetooth or it is the phone you used? Also consider you might have experienced a small temporary glitch given all electronics involved or that specific vehicle might need some attention indeed, which does not invalidate the overall quality of most hybrid Ford Escapes (much larger sample); 3) True that Toyotas are, in general terms, reliable. I've had really bad experiences with Toyotas in the past (product and service) so I may never buy another again. Given the overall reliability my case fits the lower end of the statistics but those still exist.
@fkillah Жыл бұрын
@@corujariousa No, I had this car for a week. It's not my fault when the bluetooth is connected. I said its laggy, that's a vehicle issue. AWD compared to what, a 4Runner? The 4Runner wins hands down. You don't see any Escapes going off-road. The Highlander Hybrid is not a true 4WD, so you can't really make that comparison. But overall, any Toyota will be superior to this vehicle. BTW, theres a recall on this Escape. I'm aggressive now because I said "ridiculous?"
@corujariousa Жыл бұрын
@@fkillah I have no emotional connection nor get paid by any brand so I am not in the business of convincing anyone. I di not expect to have to explain this but comparison between products must be under under similar products and categories. In the case of the Escape Hybrid, it has to be against the Toyota RAV-4 hybrid and Honda CR-V hybrid. The Escape is not designed to go off-road. I could go on with other observations but I do not see a reason to continue. Again, not trying to convince anyone... You seem old enough to know when you are, or not, being aggressive so I live that thinking to you, if you find useful for your life.
@fkillah Жыл бұрын
@@corujariousa like I said, the only thing that could come across as remotely aggressive is the word ridiculous. And if you feel that’s aggressive, thats on you for being sensitive over a benign word. I said ridiculous because it is, no sugar coating. Yeah, let’s compare to a RAV4, its head and shoulders better than the escape in almost every single category. You can check out all the reviews, ratings, and all the anecdotal evidence and they all conclusively support my claim. That’s why I said it’s ridiculous.

U may say 2023 ford escape hybrid is better than Toyota, but it’s rated 37 mile range on electric mode only,is absolutely false. I can only get a charge range of 19 miles sitting in my garage I haven’t driven it yet. It’s very nice suv hybrid but sucks for charge range!!! I have own this ford suv one month, very disappointed electrical range. As I mentioned car sits with half a charge to advertised range. (Very poor) Once I drive suv not using any option inside the car, on sunny dry day the range drops very quickly. Using option inside car, well u can get the idea of what happens to what ever range is left. Buyer beware to any manufacturer of hybrid SUV as to the real range. EV only vehicles are no better big expensive for my investment of false advertising.
