Nice review. It's hard for a reviewer to know everything, but he did miss a few things: 1) The higher trim levels, starting with the ST-Line Select I believe, do have LED Fog Lights. 2) The 2023 Escape comes standard with an 8 inch infotainment screen and physical buttons/knobs for the HVAC controls. For those of us who prefer smaller screens, physical buttons/knobs, and lower cost, simply don't get the $3,000+ Technology Package which adds a lot of electronic features that many of us don't want, such as a larger 13.2 inch infotainment screen, which replaces the physical HVAC buttons/knobs with onscreen controls. 3) The rear seats CAN be moved forwards and backwards, just like the front seats. Other videos have shown this feature, which isn't common. 4) The 2.0L engine is upgraded for 2023 with a new Modular Power Cylinder (MPC) design. Port injection was added to the existing Direct injection to keep the valves cleaner and significantly reduce carbon buildup. The engine tuning with the 8-speed AT was improved for quieter operation and smoother shifts. Overall, if optioned properly, the Escape can please many buyers.

You sure on the dual injection on this 2.0? The only 4cyl from Ford I'm aware of that has it is the 2.3 in the Mustang.

@@wayneheien9246 I don't think it was them being quiet. They made it clear on the new Mustang 2.3 having both port and DI. I have a 2.0 and 8 speed and the engine is pretty smooth and the 8 speed shifting is fine. I don't short trip much and I run Lucas and AMSOIL upper cylinder lube that I'm hoping will help keep the intake valve clean.

I have this exact same model and I can personally say, for a low end vehicle, you get a very good bang for your dollars. The seats are very comfortable. The full-size rim and tires gives it a better ride and handling. Tires also give it a far better appearance. The drive assist just about drives the car by itself. The screen is large enough to make it easy to work with while driving but does take time to learn how to maneuver through it. The daily in and out of traffic is very good. You have enough power to pull out into traffic without having to floor it. Road noise is very minimal and engine noise at highway speeds is very minimal. The adaptive cruise control is spot on. It will even come to a full stop with it on. Opening and closing the doors sound and feels like between a high luxury vehicle and the cheapest vehicle. In my opinion I would say very pleasant and solid. The stereo system sounds very clear and crisp. The inside appearance is very up to date looking and appealing to the eyes. Things I think would be nice to have had or improved on would be. Needs a option to disable the auto start/stop permanently. Needs auto start on the key fob. Needs seat memory controls. Passenger seat needs the same option as the driver seat. Heated and cool seats would have been a huge plus. Better stereo sound would have been really nice. Something with a 8" sub and quality speakers would have been spot on. With everything I said, I would say it's a really nice vehicle and I don't have any problems with heavy traffic in the city or long hour trips.

I had a 2016 Focus ST. The 2.0 escape is pretty much the same engine. The AWD and 8-speed makes the Escape quite a bit faster as well. It's way faster than all it's direct competitors. Ford made fat hot hatch and no one noticed. Like the Focus ST if you run premium and summer tires it's dramatically improved.

Car and Driver got a 5.7 sec 0-60 mph with the Escape 2.0 AWD. The Maverick 2.0 ecoboost AWD will do 0-60 in 6.4 secs or 5.9 secs with 4k tow package. 126 mph top speed limiter on the Escape and 110 mph limiter on the Maverick.

Those extended roof spoilers do indeed have a function. The wind comes off the back of the vehicle in a "blow back" circle. It can make the rear window very dirty. The spoiler extends the length of the roof moving that wind current further back and thus missing the back window.

I'm a Ford man but i don't think i'd choose this over a Rav4. And the only thing ST means to me on this model is more money. Rav4 has a 203 horse power 2.5 at a great price in my eyes and the interior lay out is outstanding. I'm in the market for a new SUV here in the next few months and i will be purchasing or ordering a new Rav4. I still love my Fords Joe! I have two Mustangs i adore but i have a 2005 Rav4 that has been a true gem for me.
@lego4virgo
@lego4virgo Жыл бұрын
You go to that Toyota dealer, and you will soon find out that the 'great price' is NOWHERE NEAR what the dealership will be asking. The RAV4 is more cramped in the interior, especially in the rear seat, though it has more cargo room. BUT--you can slide the rear seats in the Escape fore/aft, and match that cargo area size of the RAV4, if you need to. I don't think the RAV4 layout is anything to write home about, but it doesn't have as many recalls as the Escape has had in the past, so that's the only thing I can feel it has going for it.

Jut got a brand new 2023 escape ST Line same exact specs as the one in this video. Got it 5,000 dollars under MSRP and 1.9 percent interest. Coming from a 2016 escape se. This has everything I ever wanted/needed in an SUV. Great price for the money. However, I wouldn't of paid MSRP for it as there are other vehicles that seem to be built a little better for the price. All in all it has been about 3 weeks and I love it.

The government is pushing for better fuel economy on the car makers, forcing them to basically go to 3 cylinder engines. Before it's all over most vehicles will all have 3 cylinder engines. The thing that gets me is these 3 cylinder engines really aren't getting that much better fuel economy than a 4 cylinder and you are sacrificing so much horespower. When will the government realize that the majority of buyers would much rather have a bigger engine and more horsepower rather than better fuel economy.

I've had an Escape ST Line since July. Mine is Atlas Blue. So far, I'm really liking it inside and out. Looks sporty, feels sporty and comfy at the same time. Love the interior with the red stitching. Had that on a 2019 F-150 and it looked so good. Agree about the climate controls on the screen. Needs to be simplified, plus it wouldn't hurt if you could have manual and electronic controls for it. At 76 yrs of age, I find it a bit more hard to look at what I'm doing while watching the road. Slower reflexes, I guess. Also wish it came with the fog lamps. And that chrome strip across the top of the grille, on higher level Escapes that is a light strip. This is the 4th Escape I've had and the previous three had the 2.0 inline 4 cyl and 250hp and loads of power. But, I was quite surprised at how much power the 1.5 has. Don't mind it at all and it has a nice little rumble under the hood on acceleration. So far, I'm quite satisfied with my '23 Escape. Wouldn't mind another after this one, but I've heard rumblings that Ford is dropping the Escape after the '24 model, along with the Edge. At least the gas engine ones in favor of all electric ones. I hope not. P.S., and I'm averaging 26.1mpg with mine and that's primarily city driving.

Nice review. A suggestion if I can, that I don’t see most reviewers mention. Yes this one didn’t have a sunroof or power passenger seat, but Ford, Nissan and many others have packages you can add (and a lot of times they are sold on the lot as such) where you can get those amenities or upgrades, without having to go up to the next trim level.

Car reviewers keep saying there's only 3 trims of the new Escape. Active, ST-Line, Platinum. But they somehow are missing that there's 3 trims of the ST-Line. The regular ST-Line Elite is significantly more equipped than say just the standard ST-Line or even the ST-Line Select. The regular ST-Line is basically the Active trim with the gray wheels and the red-stitched seats (assuming you don't factor in the options). Once you add those options or step up to the Select or Elite, or Platinum, is when those higher trims really start to take shape.

Well, if Ford is putting the quality back into its product line, the Escape should be a breadwinner for the Dearborn automaker. The first car in my custody was a 1978 6 cylinder Fairmont Futura as a high school junior in 1981. My favorite vehicle I had was a 97 Ranger 2.3 5 speed, which I wish I kept. My partial zonk might be the 3 cylinder. I'm just not sure. I like the color, which reminds me of Milton's red Swingline stapler. I think I'll name this one "Tripod". Hey Joe, some new developments I discovered. Apparently Ford engineers were caught testing a camouflaged sedan in Michigan. Do you think with the declining truck sales will Ford consider re-entering the sedan market, possibly coming out with a Fusion replacement? Do you have any insight to this 🤔

It makes sense for a Fusion comeback. Overseas the Mondeo is being produced which is the Euro version of the Fusion

It probably wouldn’t fit and it’s not cost effective for Ford, but a true ST with the 2.7L V6 would be fun, or the 2.0L putting out 300HP+.

@@xoulmannn yeah it would likely be the 2.3 from the mustang as it's part of the new MPC engine family as are the 1.5 and 2.0 in the 2023 escape.
@xoulmannn
@xoulmannn Жыл бұрын
@@Det_MCDC But Ford already has a Fourth generation ST that has a new revised 2.3L engine. It makes no sense to still use the Ecoboost variant assuming that's the original from 2017 and not the S650 variant. NVM, I looked into this further and not much has changed other than the codenames.

This car is the perfect choice for someone that doesn't know anything about cars and likes to visit the dealership service department once the warranty is up. 3CYL turbocharged engines... Just lovely Ford. Good thing my buddies F150 3.5 ecoboost was still under warranty when the turbos failed last week along with the coolant lines. Nice work Ford. A person would have to be a couple quarts low to purchase something like this. The Mazda CX-5 is light years ahead of this contraption. (Same goes for the new GM 3cyl Buick lineup also.) Ugh... I can't believe people get sucked into these when there are other options. Much better options.

Companies such as Ford and VW are refreshing their models for more reviews to pop-up to essentially tell buyers that “This car exists.” However, Toyota and Honda (just to name a few) usually don’t refresh their models because they have best-selling models, with twice the build-quality.

Yes, Europe has been using those 3cyl engines for a while, but that is not the American market nor distances. Same reason for not getting many of the different models they make there. Can't compare Europe market or needs with US.

Of all these tiny 1.something turbocharged engines cross overs, I think the Chevy Trax looks and is optioned the best. Yes even better than the Mazda, afore and the rest since it’s literally the cheapest but still roomie. More features for less. Yes some might argue about historical Toyota/Honda reliability but technology is changing and that’s no longer the case, used to be for more simpler engines but the new ones aren’t as reliable.

I have a 2014 Escape with the 1.6L Ecoboost and I think there are times when this engine shines, but accelerating from a stop and on first start up in extremely cold winters are not it. Feels underpowered. Drives great though and is totally competent when driving in the Rockies. I would not go for a 1.5L 3 cylinder.
