I love my Canyon Elevation. Had it for a week and get 20.3 overall mpg. I got tired of driving a full size Sierra pick up truck, it is so huge its like driving a Bus to work everyday and the new Canyon pulls the same as the V8 while being more manageable on the road. Stops better and is much easier to park.

As great as the new canyon and Colorado are, you know these aren’t going to be produced in the numbers that they should. You know GM would much rather you go to full size than mid size.

Great video I love my gmc sierra with my 3.0 duramax idk why more manufacturers don't use small diesel engines I love getting 28mpg and still have good power in a full size truck would love to ask higher ups why not more small diesels in more vehicles

I'm confused??? Wouldn't more high mpg diesel engines help the epa and emissions?
@LongIslandMopars
@LongIslandMopars Жыл бұрын
@@streetmuscle2155 You're truck would get even higher mpg without emissions choking controls. The EPA doesn't recognize how efficient diesels are. I fully support diesel and did my thesis on biodiesel over 18 years ago. Unfortunately diesel is viewed as the enemy by the EPA and refuses to accept what is "clean enough" and still economically viable. Manufacturers have to go to such complicated methods to reach emission targets that it hurts efficiency as well as long term maintenance and reliability. Take care of your truck and enjoy it. It may be the last of its breed.

Odd that the 4wd 2.7 4cyl tops out at 21mpg hwy. The Gladiator, with the aerodynamics of a brick and a V6, gets basically the same at 22mpg with the automatic (23 w/manual, funny enough). The ford ranger is an older platform and is rated about the same as well.
@damilolaakanni
@damilolaakanni Жыл бұрын
The Ranger has been redesigned for 2024, but it will most likely get the same engine and transmission as the current one, at least in North America. So I don't expect fuel economy numbers to change.

I like the looks of this truck. BUT, why would I buy a mid size truck with a 4 cylinder, when I could pay the same amount of money and buy a Ram Rebel with a Hemi, get the same or better gas mileage, haul more cargo, tow more, carry more passengers, etc. That's why I never considered these mid size trucks when I got my Rebel!

Imagine if they dropped each of these trims by $3-$5k, they would still have a strong profit and would fly through them on the dealer lots. Sadly, they’re trying to compensate the lack of reliability by blinging/tech-big them out. I feel like they’d see great profits still by pushing out more units and then seeing more customers in the repair shops/oil changes over time ya know? Sad, but true.

Truck prices have absolutely skyrocketed. Better specs doesn’t feel like progress if the price shoots up too. Also 60k and you don’t even get the 10 speed? Why not buy a 6.2 1500 at that point?

Price out a full size with similar equipment/tech pkgs and you are going to be well above the price of these trucks. Just a well equipped LT 1500 silverado with the same engine is going to be 8 to 10 thousand more than a z71 colorado.

@@manahang1 I could have bought more base, honestly it's the wife on long trips that makes those calls.. otherwise a base model would have been fine.. I do florida to michigan trips often, as well as colorado to ny.. long rides, full sized trucks just have more space.. the new canyon and colorado were ok, i drove them, wasn't a power issue, it was just cramped and at 50k for a denali i couldn't justify the money, the new tundra was the same price for a platinum series with pretty much the same kit, though as reliable as the toyota is, i just prefer domestic when it comes to pickup trucks.. honestly time will tell on the reliability front for the new GM turbo motors, i still think dumping the v6 was a mistake, and turbo long term maintenance costs scare me, time will tell on that front, all said, i was surprised about the mpg in the 5.0, seems to be the same as the smaller trucks, which honestly is about the same, so you can't cross shop based on mpg. I get 22mpg at 80mph.. that's pretty good.. have heard that's better than not only the midsized but also most of the full sized turbo options. The one i do wish i waited to see is the new taco, but.. rumor has it the cab size is about the same..
