For a GM truck the GMC AT4 is my favorite truck. The Chevys just don't appeal to me as much for looks, I always Liked the GMC since the 2003 Chevy Cat eyes headlights.

Exterior wise 22-24 AT4 vs Trailboss I prefer the look of the trailboss. But interior AT4 all the way. I have a 23 Sierra Elevation and the interior still feels better then the Silverado

I have a 23 AT4 with the diesel. It's a great truck. I was debating between it and the Denali. The Denali had a better ride on pavement, but I liked the look of the AT4. I went in expecting to buy an F-150. I drove them a few times, but I always liked the GMC. I'm very happy thus far.

Nice review man as usual... Do you know if the instrument cluster in front of the driver has different views? I've seen on the Canyon Denali you can choose to have most of the entire cluster showing google maps.. It moves the speedometer to the bottom left with additional information along the bottom. Since this is basically the same UI I was wondering if this included that too.

You should see what the pavement is like in Washington, that road looks like a Beverly Hills driveway. haha Great review of the truck though, always been a Ford/GMC fan, they really did great work on the 2023 lineups. Really considering a AT4 3.0 Diesel since it's cheaper fuel now days in the PNW. My old 2011 Ranger needs a new friend to park next to in the garage.

What a great looking AT4! I just traded in my '21 AT4 on a Denali and I can see the '23 AT4 made so many improvements in two years. I wouldn't want to be paying for diesel right now so I'm glad I got another 6.2L.

why do people say this it makes no sense ever. diesel is barely more expensive than 93, and is twice as efficient, this truck gets 30 mpg highway, while a 6.2 barely gets 16. and the price of diesel isn't double of premium, and if u put in 87 regular you're an idiot since it is even less efficient you end up paying more per mile than you would with premium.

@ashbringer5999 so I had the at4, and just got into the 3500 ultimate. Honestly the dually rides better than the at4. The at4 is really stiff. I'd strongly recommend getting a Denali over a at4 if your only reason is looks and luxury, the difference on the highway long drives is immeasurable on my ass. Not that I hated the at4 loved it all around badass truck. Love the look and it's why I bought it originally haha, but if I was to go back 100% would take a Denali the softer suspension and street tires make a world of difference.

Purchased 2023 GMC 1500 with Duramax 3.0 and 3.73 rear and extra HD 11:16 tow package for mid 60k. Rated to tow 13,300LB ( any travel trailer on market) and getting 32 to 34 mpg going 70 on interstate. Excellent ride for everyday truck but has the guts to tow anything I want. Decided upfront not interested in 5th wheel camper due to size of state campgrounds.

You basically confirmed what I was saying lol. For a similarly priced trail boss, you get way less compared to gmc. It’s the SAME TRUCK. The only difference is the badging and what comes with the truck. There is so much more tech in the gmc compared to the trailboss for basically the same price. It’s mind boggling that Chevy isn’t allowing you to put the same stuff in the trailboss unless you upgrade to the high country trim. The only difference I see is with the z71 you get most of the stuff in the at4, but you’re stuck with a 5.5ft bed which to me is a dealbreaker, but maybe not for some. Definitely going to go with the AT4 this year. I don’t understand the weird package restrictions but gm gone be gm.

Really wanted to like the twin turbo 3.5. I looked hard at them. The inconsistency of the gen 1 made me take a pass. Interestingly, the one item I hadn't put a lot of weight in clinched it: the huge square screen of the tundra isn't close to the ease of use in the GM. In short, still happy with the decision

So, I test-drove one yesterday, and it was great, but not remarkable. Also, a fully loaded Chevy (diesel) TB is 67,000 and the AT4 equal is 72,000. The interior in the TB fully loaded actually felt and looked more premium. in my opinion. They offer a grey interior in the TB and the AT4 is only black... which kinda sucks because the AT4 in the new Harvest Bronze with a grey interior would be dope! I will say the new diesel is very nice and really can get up and go when you floor it. The diesel comes with some extra expenses in ownership costs too. So, make sure you factor that into your cost of ownership before you buy. I would buy the AT4 if I can find a good deal in January of 2024 ;).

I'm picking up a Trail Boss (diesel) in the fall. I was looking between the two and while I've always preferred the grills on the GMC's, the price difference between a loaded Trail Boss and a similar AT4 is over $5,000cdn. I just can't justify the extra cost and the Trail Boss is still a fantastic truck.

I’m in the market for a 2023 AT4 but waiting for prices to come down more. I haven’t made my mind up if I want the LZO or if I want to get the 6.2 like I have in my 2012 Silverado. I love the 6.2 j love the power but I really would like the MPG of the 3.0 L so I would sure like a comparison between the two on 0-60 and 1/4 Mike times I am a performer enthusiast so I would like to see just how much faster the 6.2 is. I don’t think you will see much difference 0-60 but I think the 6.2 will walk away after 60?

@@Wxman9123 Because of the Coyote longevity, the exhaust note, and the ability to supercharge it and make it compete with a Raptor R power wise? :) I get it. I also live in the mtns, so the twin turbos make a lot of sense to not lose tons of power if I didn't supercharge the 5.0. I'm leaning Tremor either way I think. Really like the new GMC, and am a fan of diesel's, but they're the same price, Ford has more options/tech on the Tremor, and gas/diesel pricing doesn't do it any favors even if it gets 7-10 more mpg. Yearly driving at 20K miles per year is only a $500 difference based on today's fuel costs.

That suspension lift is literally $250 if that. and can be done in a afternoon with basic tools. You’ll need an alignment after. What GM charges is outrageous. You can get the lift, nicer wheels and tires for 1/4 of the money.

Great truck if you have a camper and equipment about 5000 to 6000 pounds or less, maybe a boat jet ski, good for small trailer to haul a couple lawn mowers around with at 8900 pound tow rate

I'm in the market for these vehicles as well. Ram rebel got expensive. Ram used to be value leader. At4 will net you around 70k for a truck as well. I found the custom trail boss, back country and Sierra elevation x31 and the Tremor to be similarly priced. I ended up ordering the Ford tremor 401a. 5.0 V8 with 3.73 rear end as standard. I would take a look at the elevations as those have great value in features compared to the rest.

Can someone please explain what Trailer Brake Controller is? Is it to actually apply brakes on a trailer? I didn't know trailers have brakes. Also, why is it a slider/squeeze button? Sorry, I am completely new to trucks.

Yes it applies the brakes on the trailer. It is a squeeze button usually because you can manually apply more brake by pressing the slider closer together. Really useful on declines where you can take the pressure off your truck's brakes and engine by letting the trailer brakes handle a portion of the momentum of the decent

Trailer brakes, specifically the slider control to manually apply only the trailer brakes, is particularly useful if you ever found yourself experiencing trailer sway. Using only the trailer brakes will allow the trailer to 'pull' the tow vehicle into a controlled stait line where as applying the vehicle brakes will increase the sway as the trailer pushes the tow vehicle.

Similar equipped Trail Boss is over $5k less. I don't see the value difference. Same screens and controls in a different dash. GM's argument in keeping the GMC brand through bankruptcy was that people will pay more for one when it's essentially the same as a Chevy. This example proves that. Nice review of the truck though.

Although you are essentially right about the trucks being similar in most attributes, you're mistaken about the trail boss. The trail boss can not be optioned like AT4 in fact the Elevation can't either. The AT4 has ventilated /heated seats, power folding mirrors and several other luxury features unavailable to trailboss.

Just drove that truck yesterday, I don't think it compares at all to the Ram eco diesel. The Ram is quieter, smoother and just much more comfortable to drive. Drive them back to back and I think you'll agree. I still can't figure out why Ram is dumping their diesel, neither can the dealers?

I agree totally on the ride quality of the Ram compared to any other truck on the market...NONE come close to the Ram in ride quality and comfort...I don't like the diesels period just to growly for me I like the smoothness of a V8 if I go with the Ram it'll be the 5.7 if it was the GMC I'd go with the 6.2.

Just snatched up a '23 1500 4x4 Lonestar with the ecodiesel. It drives like a Cadillac. I am getting 30mpg on the highway at 70. Payload is 1'800lbs and tow capacity 9,650. Msrp was 65k. Got it for 61,500.
