I got this bike. Great bike for the money. They were practically giving them away for a while. My only gripe isn't really a gripe. But the geometry is pretty radical. I thought I'd get used to it a bit quicker but I'm older and my last bike was in the midschool era. For me the essential mods are- cutting/replacing the seatpost, better tires, and yanking off the brakes. And the chain it comes with isn't the greatest. But those are all minor things and subjective.

The really high bottom bracket is the hard part.. took me a while to figure it out. I went with a 11.5 bb eventually, 13.25 rear 20.75 tt and now my midschool bikes all feel terrible and my S&M BTM feels perfect...

@@mikehagen3785 I've been building a BSD Sureshot which has a more relaxed geometry and 11.5 bb. Problem I've had is parts fitment but I'm getting close to a completed build.

GT really is trying to make a come-back and get more popular, but sadly until they are hand built in Cali again no one will care! No one wants a Taiwan GT :( BRING GT BACK TO AMERICA!

@@cbthethird Taiwan and China are not the same place. I wasn't sure if it was made in the same place in Taiwan that most bikes are or if it was in China. But they are not the same plant or country

@@twiztidsidfreak13 Right- I know that. I'm very up on Taiwanese news and events my wife works for a family from there. My reply was simply that this isn't a "Taiwan bike" its a China bike. I bought one. It says made in China right on it.
