Guys a small suggestion, when your test ride is in a track, dont commit on plush suspensions or grippy tyres. Tracks are super well maintained unlike our indian roads that are moon scapes with sand, potholes, bumps, melted, dust, debris, stone etc.

People keep comparing the X 440 and the Speed 400, but the bikes have too much difference in character. The Harley is a proper chill retro bike, and it rides like one. The Triumph is a modern bike that looks retro-ish, but it's thoroughly modern inside. Only someone who cares only about how they look would compare both as bikes of the same category

Speed should be compared with Hunter 350 and it smashes hunter in every aspect. X440 is a roadster so maybe compare it with Yezdi , Jawa roadsters which it obviously is miles ahead. Personally I would have preferred X440 over classic 350 but I bought stealth black back in May this year so not buying any motorcycle until 2 more years.. And we might get more options in that time period.

Jawa 42 was a high revving engine, liquid cooled, made great power. Priced absolutely well, but but but.....the retro segment is all about the feel. The sweet sounding motor and ample torque at bottom end eggs you to feel the motorcycle hear it's beat, care for it. Speed 400 vs Harley x440.....As far as what I have heard from the power drift harley seems to be winner.

Though I never liked RE 350 cc bikes for there under engineering and underpower bikes .But they were only ones to hold there ground past 70 years and beyond inspite of no techno upgrade until recently . They kept on growing with every year and made a market for themselves like no other. Surprisingly RE is more popular in rural area . One thing RE has in its mono market is flood of spares , army of local mechanics , everywhere bullet sound and die hard fan boys . It will take 10 years to take a big share form it's market

Speed because it's not a low revving engine. If it would have been a long stroke low revving engine it would have been named a Bonneville. And there is no winner here. What is Chill ? How do you define it ? To me you can Chill on a bike that has a combination of many things in the correct ratio and combination. Recipe of chill contains Looks, Sound, Vibrations (absence of Vibes actually) , Power , Acceleration, Nimbleness , Static weight, Slow speed weight, Brand, Tank Range, Milage, Comfort, After Sale Service..... Rate the bike on all these factors

I think when they mean chill, they mean it's a bike that can ride comfortably slow or fast, the bike doesn't have to be pushed hard to extract performance. The suspension is plush, but not so much that you can't push it on good roads. The tank is a decent 13.5 litres. Mileage would probably be around 30-40, depending on the rider. Seats seem comfortable, and acceleration, weight and all are listed. Nimbleness and chill are not things that go together This is publicly available info. And how can they even test after sales service and mileage?

Sweet, quiet, enjoyable, chill, smooth, nice, pleasant, plush all these words will just disappear post 3rd service. It's a hero 2v engine, let's not forget what the 2v owners of xpulse faced. Things like over heating, vibration at low speeds, engine harshness, increased silencer noise all this will be a normal to this x440 as well. Harley believed in hero but hero was not sincere. Don't waste your money dear all. What ever problem you are going to highlight, the service guys are gonna say the same old story "that's how the bike is Designed, that's the character of the bike". Take multiple longer test ride, if possible more than 30 or 40 mins and then decide. Check for heating issues, engine noise, harsh, rust and more importantly vibrations, because reviewers use expensive gloves that reduce vibration feel and most of us ride these bike bare handed. All the best for those investing in x440.

Harley is best for your son. It's a fresh design unlike any other bike in Indian market. Also it's Harley badging and is produced vy hero. So no tension about service and parts. It's always gonna be the best pick above Royal enfield. Hero has a bright future. Also your son will enjoy riding in city as well as on highway trips. The design is unlike a traditional Harley this Hero's version of Harley is actually very practical for any kind of road. Specially Indian road conditions. I call it a hybrid cruiser. Somewhere between a street and cruiser

I Think hole game is service cost if hero make it cheaper in pocket i tell you It will Sell like hot cake than triumph . It is good if they don't do like honda cb series did .. Only big wing ... Disagree with the Honda CB350 sound comment. Many folks have appreciated CB sound more than RE. IMO its very subjective, this may have Harleys badge, but doesnt look as sturdy as a RE or a Honda, even the new Triumph 400s look and sound better. Hence, Honda CB350>RE Classic>Harley in classic/cafe racer segment. Incase anybody is looking for off roader then Triumph 400x>Himalayan just based on the fit and finish.

If you take a triumph for a tour, stop at rural-semi rural location, people will, come, have a look and admire it! But when you take a Harley anywhere, people just go, wow! That’s a Harley! And that’s the difference between the two. x440 vs speed 400 is a very tough choice.

Speed 400, hands down

Speed 400 with 4valve liquid cooled engine with much better build quality compared to x440 with 2valve oil cooled with almost half of the bhp as speed400...speed 400 is very much value for money with the much lower price AR 2.33lakhs compared to 2.5-2.7 (base 2.3 spoke version is just for the price sake with no features)

Not saying it's fake BUT if this was a "real" Harley Davidson they wouldn't publish the power output, just the torque figure. They just don't.

This would have been a great bike overall, if the rear end would've looked better🤷🏻🤷🏻🙎🏻🙎🏻cause I can't ignore that ugly rear end which feels and looks a little out of place.

I feel like once you put saddlebags on the rear it's going to look good. It'll hide huge gap and pull the look together.
