2023 Hobie Passport 10.5 Overview and on the Water Review

How much water was in the front? (if you remember) The old Outbacks are rated at 300lbs and at 220 I get a full inch of water on the floor above the drivewell.

there was about a half inch of water. The passport 12 would definitely work better for me better if I was going to chose the passport as a long term kayak for me.

so when i load my kayak on top of my car, i need to put the bottom side on the ground first.... can the rudder be raised up so it wont be between the kayak and the ground?

The rudder when in the up position is flat against the top of the kayak hull

Can the seat or drive be adjusted for really short people... Like little people 4ft tall?

@@nateitscake88 the drive pedals can be adjusted back and forward! We’ve had some children be able to pedal this kayak around that height

good review, bought one, on anything but still water the hull slap is infernal and the standard rudder useless (I upgraded to the large rudder right away)

Thanks! I didn’t seem to notice that bad of hull slap. It’s definitely not as bad as the lynx 🤣 the rudder upgrade kit is awesome!

@@SteegeFish I m going to try putting bricks on the bow to keep it down, I'm 6' 180lbs, perhaps for a 275lbs person this would not be a problem (I noticed the hull slap comes from the shoulders of the kayak at the front - water hits the shoulders square on)

Great video! Would you feel comfortable doing a beach launch with the 10.5 Passport and would you say it's an ocean worthy kayak for fishing? I know Hobie makes better options for ocean fishing, but I really like the Passports price point

Thank you! As long as you watch your weight capacity I think the passport could be ok on a good day in the gulf. If it’s predicted to be anything over 1.5 ft swells I would probably want a passport 12

How is the leg room? I am 6'1", are the pedals fully extended

I’m 6ft 235lb and in my opinion that’s close to pushing it with some gear. The leg room isn’t terrible and You would probably be fine depending on your weight but you might feel more comfortable in a passport 12

Does the 9inch H-rail kit mount to the 10.5?

My apologies for not seeing this before. You could mount a 9 in h rail probably anywhere on the 10.5 if you don’t care about drilling. They don’t have a dedicated mounting location for h rails though. The built in track is probably not long enough

Not on the passport 10.5 There is a recessed transducer mounting spot on the passport 12.

How much faster is the Passport 12 compared to the 10.5? Is the 12 noticeably more stable? Thanks!

Passport 12 is noticeably more stable but as far as speed with standard gt fins they are about equal in my experience
