I love this! I started a reading journal this year and, like you, am not finding time to do it justice. Your last year's one is awesome!! But even just noting what you read and your thoughts is great. I imagine going back when I am OLD(er) and looking at it and remembering. But why Hobonichi instead of other journals/planners? I'm not familiar with them. A cover for your cover 😆 My husband calls my tote bag my purse for my purse 😆😆

Thank you for watching, Shannon! It’s good to hear I’m not the only one not living up to my reading journal dreams. 😉 But maybe lower expectations, no of printing & pasting covers and authors if I don’t feel like it, and a new start in 2023 will yield for the good - for the both of us. You ask why the Hobonichi. - I love the paper (very thin but very durable) and the grid size. Especially the grid size. My handwriting can look oh so nice or oh so horrible. The smaller the grid size, the handsomer my writing. 😁 Your tote for your tote! - Yes, so like the cover on cover. 🥰

Yes! Planner user since 1989, though this year I needed to go digital as I was recovering from a condition that made it painful to write. When my life was simpler, there was peace with any system. Now, I think I've had the most peace with a half-letter discbound system set up for the GTD method. Nirvana has worked out well this year for capturing and organizing tasks, so I may keep it for 2023, but looking forward to having a paper calendar again now that I've mostly healed.

I have my established planner system but I’m tempted by the hobonichi 😄 Especially the covers just look sooo beautiful. I started with a bulletjournal and a Filofax years ago and then moved to Leuchtturm 1917 and Moleskine and a traveler’s notebook. For a few years now I use the Busy B family planner, it works well for me. I did all the stickers and washi tapes and decorating when I started out but I like how neat my planner looks now without all the colours and just a fine black pen. I absolutely adore your reading journal. I use a Moleskine where I keep track of each month‘s reading and new books but that’s it.

Great video! I am a planner person too, but I’m not a very busy person so I just use a digital planner on my iPad using GoodNotes. I am more of a journal person. I have several: a five year journal, a commonplace journal; a media journal (where I track my movies, tv series and books), prompts journal/ self care journal, poetry journal, my handwriting practice journal/ scribe journal and a stationery journal (where I mostly track my fountain pens and ink).

Susan! I loved this, I always love a Hobonichi video 😍 I’m also a Monday start person (who invented the Sunday start and in what world does that make sense??? 😂). I’ve always wanted to do a five year journal!!!! But I’m like you, I’ve started so many journals and never finish any 😂🤦♀️ In terms of planner peace, the best year for me was when I designed my own planner (not for selling or anything I just designed it for myself). I think this year I’ll design one too... maybe I’ll make a video about it 😍 (I do LOVE Hobonichi though 😩 I’ve always wanted one! The cousin is my favorite ❤)

That’s so cool that you designed your own planner! Was it digital? Or did you print it out and use paper?

I just got my first hobo 5 year journal today. I have other cheaper ones but don’t keep them up I’m trying in the rest of this year to get in the habit and I’ve saw videos on it I like idea of the next page being blank to add something to each year. Was wondering about covers but I didn’t get it from the co. Don’t want to spend more on cover I have time before I use it maybe will find something that will work or just do what you said keep in box.

Man, everyone is so disciplined. I can't even keep up with the average day planner/dayminder. I usually start off writing in it for about a month and then the rest of the year is blank. Every one of my annual planners are empty after about a month or two 🙈💦 My At-A-Glance DayMinders also start on Mondays 📖🧐🤔 There is no need for a cover, as the covers are hard plastic (they don't even get scratched or scuffed).
