Warro, nice review. The Honda CB125 looks to be a nice nimble get around bike; very rider friendly. I love the small bore bikes. CT125, ADV150, Tu250X and XMAX 300 in my garage. How did the camping go? I look forward to seeing that segment. Cheers!

the camping actually went fine apart from the fact i really needed a bit more stuff on hand. plus it took a long time to do the filming too so i was pretty busy doing all the shots/drone/cooking/ setting up the camp etc/recording the birds. it actually almost felt like full on work....lol so when its together i plan to load it up as my first in the camping series. overall it was a pretty cool spot and best of all no interuptions by other travellers so i had the whole area to myself. next time out i plan to take the enfield and after that the xmax.

@@ridewithwarro Unfortunately I weigh 110kg and bought this exact model from Peter Stevens for AU$3,526.00 rideaway. I've done 100KM's so far and it's so gutless that almost any incline it's down to 2nd or 3rd gear and revving it's nuts off. I'm having to rev the crap out of it just to launch it off the line. Most certainly suit a younger and slimmer 50-70kg rider. I found the fuel injection very on/off and snatchy like a VTR1000 I used to own. Uses the same old school PGMFi so it's many generations old by now. Mine is averaging 2.3 L/100KM's including 50% being thrashed to get up hills. Mine is jet smooth with no vibration at all. Unfortunately mine is going back and I'll pick up a CB300R instead. 10bhp is simply inadequate where 30bhp is able to actually cruise at 100KMH without having a hernia. Good luck with it.

@@theaustralianconundrum this is more just a reserve bike for me as i was curious how it ran compared to the daughters cb125e have fun on the 300r that extra 20 hp will make a huge difference. lucky you never paid near $8000 for the ct125 trail -i had two of them and the cb125f appears pretty good against them...lol

@@ridewithwarro I've actually had a re-think and considering I paid AU$3,500 rideaway incl delivery to our house I've put a fresh tank of Caltex 98 Vortex in it and have found that it's not so bad now. I' know the dealer has their own bowser so gawd only knows how old the fuel is but what I emptied out just stank like stale fuel. It's probably got an extra 20% more oomph now and now the missus wants to have a crack at it! LOL

i check lots of cb125f reviews and yours is a fair assesment i think. I looked around at all sorts of 125cc machines last year, including some of the chinese ones which give great value, but am so glad i settled on the this one, it's a joy to ride every time, great mpg and the usual Honda reliability. Because used 125 prices are so buoyant (at least in the UK) IMHO it doesnt make any sense to buy a 2nd hand one, (even though i did lol), but it only had 300 miles on the clock, had it's first dealer service and was totally mint. I could sell it now for what i paid for it, but if i hadnt found this gem, i would have definately bought new. GL

i go through lots of new bikes so always cross reference others...lol i think for the money involved like aud$3800 its a pretty good deal compared to say when the daughter had the cb125e. i gave her my new grom after riding the cb125e and i think its pretty close to the worst new bike ive ever ridden and ive had 62 of them. i like to call it as i see it. some dont like it much but again its my money and its not a test ride its my thoughts if its worth buying. so i call the good and the bad. overall i think this is a really good around town bike and pretty nippy too. out on the open road or here in OZ anyway its handicapped a bit by hills but i can pace it along the flats at an easy 80 kph plus. the new grom has a similar motor but much harder suspension than this one. so overall i think its a nice little bike and if one rode to conditions could cover quite a bit of distance.

yeah i think the tube is full of lets be nice to the viewers so i can pick up some subs...lol back to your side of it. its a pretty good little bike and comes in at 115kgs so pretty light there. nice and light to toss around it appears to be good on petrol too a while back i gave my daughter a new 5 speed grom. shortly i plan to do a ride with here and swap bikes and evaluate both. i found the grom a bit hard in the suspension myself and this one rides much better. looking at the cb125f and also looking at the price i cant really complain about anything as its not the best but its far from the worst. overall its a pretty good little bike and ive owned more expensive 125cc bike and feel they were overpriced letdowns. with the 125f you get what you pay for and the end result being a pretty good deal

I think these engines sound really sweet at low Revs, but at high revs it sounds a bit rattly and stressed, like 90kmh+. At low revs it has a nice purr and a little whin over the top, but it sounds really tuned, like it’s making the most of all the fuel it’s getting
@ridewithwarro
@ridewithwarro Жыл бұрын
by the time i am finished with it.....it will be stressed...lol overall its not a bad ride really. runs along well at 80/90 klm and for what it cost its a pretty good buy. nice and nimble unladen and yretty quick off the mark. i'd say it would go close to beating the enfield 350 on pickup up to a certain speed and it top speed not a great deal behind one either. saying that it just hasn't the character of the enfield so one cant win them all. enfield 350 reborn is very hard to beat as a feel good ride experience...it's actually my outright favourite set of wheels to date.

I was torn between this and the pcx for a cheap commuter. I got the pcx for the sheer practicality and the fact it has a water cooled engine. That's the main thing that bothered me, why didn't they put water cooling on this one as well... when driving slowly between heavy city centre traffic in extreme summer heat it would be a problem for the cbf because they made this bike for open road and count on the air moving across the cooling fins during ride. Other reasons for me were storage space under the seat where I can put my helmet without bothering, knee protection from wind plus ability to use legs heating blanket in winter, etc.

for what it costs its a pretty good little unit. if your happy to run along at 50/55 mph it will do that just fine but its not too keen on pulling hills. afterall its only 10 hp. another choice and ive been happy with those is an yamaha xmax 300 scooter. i find it pretty good too. will handle 60 mph very easy and its just twist and go. i just bought the lastest version with digital dash and sat/nav. never thought i'd like scooters but after riding one i can see the attraction there. so back to the cb125f. for your first time on a geared/clutch bike i think it would be a good easy bike to learn on and no issues getting into trouble with 10 hp on tap.

I'm tempted to get this over the mt-03 as my first bike. My main concern is the lack of power. Could not be arse having to sell it quickly after I get my full license.

well i had a new 2022 mt-03 its in my history. very good bike not so to me as the riding position was a bit hard on my back. if the upgrade to a mt-03 is no issue i'd say go for that bike! with 42hp on tap it will run along at 100 kph as if your playing with it and dealer told me it tops out at 180kph pulls hills with no effort at all and if it wasn't for my back issue i'd kept it. back to this one. 100 kph would be tops or a tad over and the hills will get you for sure. on level ground it runs pretty good for 10 hp and nice and zippy around town but it's a NO contest against the mt-03 as its a far superior bike. that bike is the pure outright winnner there.

@@ridewithwarro thanks mate. Your review was what made me very keen to get the mt03. My back is not the best also. Do they offer a comfort seat for longer rides? I'm happy to keep this bike long term if it handles highway speeds with not too much struggle keeping it at 110. Was interested in upgrading to a big bike over my scooter because that maxes out at 100km/h with a wind assisted acceleration going down hill. Cheers

@@andrewbarry5130 well it was really my wrists and shoulders plus my back causing the issues...lol it really is a good little bike. ive had 2 new 650 interceptors and my thoughts would be it would easily keep up to them and beat them through the corners. the only bike i think would or could bowl it over is the 390 duke. had one of those but again riding position was far worse than this one. even if you lived in the NT and said it needs to cruise at 130kph ...will it do it my answer would be yes! if i didn't have back issues i'd been on the best sports bike i could grab hold of but i know if i did i'd only be buying it for some-one else on the cheap...lol on another note if say you wanted to go scooter again the new 2023 model xmax i bought will easily hit 100kph and pull good steep hills too

@@ridewithwarro I've got a Honda scoopy in Thailand for the crazy traffic but now would like to branch out on some higher torque. I think the mt03 is a winner so far maybe the mt07 after. The reason is I would woild hate to destroy the plastics on a r3.

@@andrewbarry5130 i did notice a bit of vibe in the bars and pegs on the mt-03 but if that is no concern i still think the mt-03 is good value for money. plus i think it runs from 0 to 100 kph in under 6 seconds too

@@ridewithwarro I don't know if you've taken a closer look at the components but it appears to me most of the bolts are nickel plated and many others are stainless. The castings are actually quite well made along with the rest of the bike's parts. I do know these are Made in India because it has that plaque on the front centre main downtube. The CT125's are Made in Japan and this is why they are double the price. The chain is genuine DID but their lowest entry level. It's a 420 and was made as a one piece so it's easy to get a chain breaker and pull it off and put on DID's Japanese higher spec chains that are about AU$100-130 here. I also pulled my two piece plastic chain shroud off as it didn't allow me to lube the chain with my Motul Pro Race lube. I really don't know how they make these for the price. They are a bit of a bargain.
