2023 Honda Civic Hybrid: Fantastic All-Rounder?
In a world where longstanding cars such as the Audi TT and Ford Fiesta are facing the automotive axe, special praise must be awarded for this car’s longevity, the 2023 Honda Civic.
Entering its 11th, yes, 11th generation the new Civic is 50 years old, but it’s far from old hat. It’s only available as a hybrid, features plenty of tech and improvements over the FK8. That’s all jolly good, but is it worth your hard-earned cash?
The new Honda Civic is available in two trim levels, Sport and Advance, with respective price for £33,720 and £36,375. At the time of filming there was also the Elegance, which was the base model, but that looks to have been dropped.
The model tested is the range-topping Advance, which is able to boast features such as:
- 18” alloys
- LED lights with adaptive high beam
- Keyless entry
- Front and rear parking sensors
- Reversing camera
- Honda SENSING
- Heated Front Seats, which are also electronically adjustable
- Wireless Phone Charger
- 10.2” touchscreen with the latest Honda CONNECT system
- Panoramic roof
- Heated Steering Wheel
- Dual Zone Climate Control
- BOSE sound system with 12 speakers
The new 2023 Honda Civic Hybrid is only available as a hybrid, and is powerd by a 2.0 litre Atkinson cycle engine, which is aided by two electric motors. Combined they produce 184hp along with 315Nm, and this power is fed to the front wheels via an eCVT.
0-62mph is dealt with in a little over 8 seconds, the the top speed is 112mph. When it comes to fuel economy, this car is able to offer up 56.5mpg on a combined run, and emissions come in at 114g/km.

@@CarObsession Honda dealers are selling the Elegance for £35k, they are no longer available to order, I paid £35k for the elegance which was a cancellation(list price £31.5). I ordered an Advance at the same time or rather put my name down on a list for when the order book reopens, and then I am advised there is at least a 1 year wait for delivery at least. They are selling used for up to £10k above the new price ….. Crazy times 😂

Great review and it is a nice car but I've yet to see one hybrid that offers high mpg. Even my 09 Prius is mid-50s at best in summer, diesels can get more

Spoke to our local Honda dealer here in the UK today - they said they currently can’t sell any Civic’s as they can’t get hold of them. The guy said they can start ordering them again from September this year.

It’s due to microchip shortages. They have also now suspended taking orders on the other two models due to chip shortages and a large backlog of orders.

In Romania, the Elegance version was never available. The middle version, Sport, disappeared from the offer in mid-January 2023, leaving the top version, Advance, as the last solution. So, the problem is a general one and not specific to just one market.

Hybrid cars are so expensive for what they offer . A non hybrid car is a fair bit cheaper, lighter and probably a close second on economy .Look at the figures for a Mazda 3 . Even the new petrol only Astra/Peugeot 308 etc look far better value .Excellent review by the way . Also I won’t be swopping my Cupra ST 300 anytime soon i would so miss it !

I think the new 308 diesel is a smart buy especially as at the moment they are heavily discounted and cheaper than petrol 308 models at some outlets although not sure how long that will last.

A lovely car indeed, but the fact Honda have increased the price of the Advance to over £40k is really bad indeed, it now attracts the higher end car tax for 5 years !!, that is close to £500 a year for 5 years. Not impressed, this will affect my decision in the next few moths on which car to order, they have shot themselves in the foot.

Hi Adam, thanks for watching and thanks for the lovely comment. I don't get it either, I've found ever since lockdown the channel has struggled for views and hasn't really been the same since. I know my reviews are quite long, so I experimented by making my standard reviews and making a condensed 4 minute version alongside it to see which would do better as I thought the algorithm was starting to favour shorter content. The short form content did worse, so I stopped the experiment as it was too time consuming and I got the results I was looking for quickly. I really don't know - I've spoken to bigger, more successful KZbinrs such as Petrol Ped, Joe Achilles and Rory Reid, and they've said there isn''t anything I really doing wrong, so it is somewhat baffling and can be frustrating as well. Once I have got through my backlog of editing, I'm going to drop to one video a week to see how that changes/affect things.

@Car Obsession gotta be 1 of the strangest thing iv seen. Maybe try making a second account and upload on there at the same time you upload on this account and see if you get more views? That could prove youtube is censoring your account. Heck, I might even screenrecord 1 of your clips and upload it, see if I get any views.... maybe try different hashtags? Anyways like I said I think it will gain traction eventually. There are too many crappy channels that get lots of views because youtube boosts them in the algorithm thing.
