Its an eCVT, not a CVT. there’s no gears or pullies. It has 2 electric motors; one generator, one propeller.

@@TheGU1T4RFR3AK I don't! But I know the difference between a generator and a motor. A generator converts mechanical energy into electric power, while an electrical motor does exactly the contrary. In this case the electric motor works as a generator in regenerative braking phases while the electric generator never works as a motor. I.e. one internal combustion engine motor, one electric generator and one electric motor. Furthermore please note that the transmission is equipped with differential which obviously has gears!!

@@stefanobalistreri8349 The generator in this system definitely acts as a motor, in some situations. At the very least it acts as a starter for the ICE. It's also probably used to fine tune the RPMs when the clutch is engaging. When the clutch is engaged it might also contribute to the traction, technically, but it won't because there's never need for that to happen (the main motor is surely better suited for that).

*No Magic seats in MK11- as battery sits underneath the rear seats. As for the sound - Honda did studies and found drivers still require that "gear change" feeling to feel they are driving a car. Honda have truly pushed the limits on this car and did a fantastic job. The Advance model is the one to go for.

Magic seats were long gone from Civics, as soon as they moved away from the classic hatchback boxy body style. While it's true that the battery is there now, it's not strictly related to that reason. Jazz and HRV have magic seats and the battery is somewhere else. Civic needed that space to fit more refined suspensions (which are in fact the true reason for the bump in the boot floor).

Do not get fooled by the perceived softer suspension. It does not roll and goes where you point it so you can really push and not have it jar your bones. I know as I have got one.

Honda should forgo using the 2.o 181/232 and go straight to using the new Accord hybrid 2.o 204/247 ......(.....and which is even better than the Si 2.o 200/192 ) ....the 204/247 could be a true Sport Hybrid. They could use the "RS" name.. BTW- you do a good job. No ego, no "desperate to be cool", no BS . Kudos

Had the civic hybrid sport since the end of June 2023 in crystal blue metallic and have never looked back. What a great car, was always vw before this but not now

@@TimWilliamsHD Not realy, power to the wheels comes only from the electo motor til about 60/70mph no gears in that area (the computer does imitate gears with engine sound, very cool) when u go over 60/70mph it changes to a mechanical gear (6th gear) directly from the petrol engine to the wheels, (it has about 140hp in that gear) here is a video if you wanna know exactly how eCVT works kzbin.info/www/bejne/h324eniudtOBmac

Never trust a computer for MPG. They’re always wrong. Only full tank to full tank will give you real results. Mine showed me 106.7 real time mpg few days ago. Yet my best actual was 83. All time average 63.77. Honda Civic 1.6 idtec.

Reminds me of an audi a5 sportsback, love the elegant design, away is the goofy ricerlook. I terms of tech imho this is the way to go, affordable and yet no hussle with EV charging station and thecquestionable electricity from dirty coalplants.

You are incorrect when you say the Civic hybrid has a gearbox. There is no gearbox in the car, merely a continuously variable (amount of) torque to the battery with acoustic enhancement to give a more “natural” feel when accelerating (i.e. fake gear change sounds).

@@TimWilliamsHD indeed. it works by having electric engines with direct output to the wheels, and when the rpm of the engine is right. (between ~80 and 120km/h) it swaps over to direct engine to wheels connection. below and above that its electric engine

Hey mate, just a suggestion to improve you video quality. Get an ND filter that you can use on bright days, its a night and day difference. At the moment, a lot of the clips have clipped highlights.

Do your homework better, there is no gearbox in it at all. The gearchanges are electronically simulated by changes the ampere (the torque) of the electromotor, and the rev sounds you hear are simulated through the speakers!
