Enjoying the car and the presentations you’ve done have been very useful. On the downside the left hand side of steering wheels are really defeating me. My use of cruise control is defo wrong. I think I’m resetting from scratch every time I use it within a single journey. As it only works when driving I’ve found experimenting with it tricky!!

Hi, Question please, if Honda says that Civic has 184HP, the cumulative power between the combustion engine and the electric motors, so really at a given moment when I want to accelerate or drift at that moment, are the 184hp guaranteed or does it depend on which engine is triggered? means what I have exactelly under my feet when i hit the accelerator? I hope my question is clear, sorry if not
@gerrycollins23353 ай бұрын
The electric motor which, most of the time, drives the wheels on its own, is rated at just under 184 bhp. It has an impressive max torque rating of 315 Nm (232 ft-lb) which is the main quality that you notice when accelerating what is a relatively lightweight vehicle. The combustion engine all this time is not driving the wheels directly at all, but (as and when it is needed) spins an electricity generator which can charge the high-voltage battery and/or direct electrical energy straight to the above electric motor. So to answer your question, the max 184 bhp is available most the time when you are likely to need it (i.e. accelerating at normal road speeds) : you do not add together the power outputs of ICE and electric motor, as you would do with a parallel hybrid system. Now, at speeds over about 100 kph / 62 mph, the electric motor would soon exhaust the Civic's small high-voltage battery, and in any case it becomes more efficient to have the ICE drive the wheels directly. So the drivetrain (seamlessly in my experience) switches from the electric motor to the ICE, via a clutch. The combustion engine has max 140 bhp and 137 ft-lb torque, which is fine for motorway cruising when the car simply needs to counter wind and friction resistance to maintain high speed. What it does not have is bags more power available to accelerate quickly from say 80 mph to 100 mph. This is when it is most likely you would notice that the car is less powerful than one using all of its possible bhp at all speeds. Finally, you are unlikely to be able to "drift" the Civic, if for some odd reason you felt the urge. Its built-in safety systems can be disabled to some extent, but it has a particular aversion to loss of control.

@@forsdykemontague1017 Not sure why you've been told 18 months. Order bank re-opens in July. I have a new crv hybrid with set up as the Civic can you stop the car leave it in drive or reverse and just switch off the power button mine seems to put it into park when you do this am I doing something wrong. This was the system I used in my Peugeot 3008 when shutting the engine off
@gerrycollins23353 ай бұрын
There is no need to select Park if you want to switch off anyway: pressing the Power button to turn off will automatically put it in Park. However you must remember to apply the electric brake.

One major flaw for me. I can't understand why, having fully electrical seats, especially on Advanced trim, the omission of memory seats. This is car that will be driven by dads and moms around the world and setting up for both every time one gets in the driver's seat couldn't be more of an hassle. Inconceivable on this day and age. In this case, you can't even coun't the clicks like on manual adjustable ones. That's pretty much my only criticism to an otherwise amazing Honda product.
