So nice to see a Canadian review. My only complaint about Honda Canada is that they only brought out Hybrid in the top trim for the CR-V with the excuse of expense and yet you have Toyota Canada who offers Hybrids in most of their vehicles in most trim levels. Also, the top trim level Rav 4 Hybrid is $4,000.00 cheaper than the Honda CR-V Hybrid so Honda Canada needs to do better. Thanks for the review.

Shout out to my fellow Canadian! I think you're right. Honda's have increased in price lately, and I think it says something about how they run their business. Honda was known for quality vehicles, but they also built their reputation for decades on value for the dollar, and they've been giving up ground in that area for a number of years now. It's strange to see them continue to give ground, especially to Toyota whom you would think would be a key competitor to them. You wouldn't figure that they'd price things higher if they could afford to price things on par, so I wonder what's happening there.

The biggest selling points for me: 1 honda reliability/quality, 2 simple technology unlike the others out there, you can be a non techy person that doesn’t need millennial to set up your car, 3 simplicity of the interior/dash. Imo, this is perfect combo of tech and older technology for Boomers and Gen X that want simple classic motoring. We bought the 2024 EX-L Hybrid, moving to this from our 2010 EX-L.

My wife has a sport hybrid model. It's not all that it's cracked up to be. The handling and suspension is where it shines amazingly. The engine and transmission are brash. The engine doesn't even drive the car most of the time. Sometimes you try to accelerate and nothing happens and in a split second you feel like "woah is it redlining?" and you can't even see the RPMs. It's missing a lot of pretty standard bells and whistles at that price point. A 360 Camera, homelink, heated wheel to me is a must. I got a santa fe hybrid instead.

@PeterLoweOne
@PeterLoweOne Жыл бұрын
I haven't had access to a hybrid yet, but as soon as I can, I'll get that on video. I haven't looked into drive B but my guess is that it's an extra regeneration mode which is common in electrified vehicles. But again, to be clear, I've done no research at all on it, I could be completely wrong.
@JustUsGaming987
@JustUsGaming987 Жыл бұрын
@Peter Lowe One yes, it has to do with regenerative breaking. But I've heard some people say you can drive while using it regularly and others say it's not good. A better understanding of it all together would just be awesome. Thank you for your reply
@PeterLoweOne
@PeterLoweOne Жыл бұрын
@@JustUsGaming987 I have extensive experience with electric vehicles. Again, I haven't done research on the Honda itself, but I have yet to see an electrified vehicle that has an issue using regenerative braking anytime the driver would want. So my guess is that others are misinformed about using it, especially if they think it will cause an issue. That's an argument that I've heard against systems that I do understand and have researched extensively, and I can debunk that theory when it comes to the other brands. It would surprise me to hear that every other brand has no issues with extensive regenerative braking, but Honda's system does. I hope that helps a little bit... But again, I can't speak with 100% certainty on Honda's system... But I'm betting it will be fine to use any time you think you want to.

It looked like the chrome or alloy ones were steel wheels with chrome accents on the Honda website. In Canada the Sport Trim replaces the EX Trim. If you're American, the Sport model is a hybrid, and any electrified vehicle, if it was running on pure electricity, it would move almost completely silently. It's required by law that electrified vehicles make at least some noise while moving at slow speeds. The noise you're hearing is likely Honda's noise for that scenario. Each manufacturer uses their own noise. My Kia Soul EV makes a different noise than my Jeep Wrangler PHEV, but they also each make a noise. It's completely normal and is a requirement.

I have a question about the Hybrid AWD. I own a 2019 Accord Hybrid, and it’s been a great car with one exception: Honda put skinnier tires on it to improve gas mileage, and these tires don’t grip well on fast starts if the road surface is wet. Does Honda do the same thing with the CRV Hybrid AWD ? It seems to me that an AWD vehicle with narrower tires would kind of defeat the purpose of that extra traction. I’m weighing this vehicle vs. a Subaru Outback.

Would a full sized spare tire fit in place of the donut spare tire? When you look at the 2023 CRv trip computer, its displayed mpg will be incorrect. I you divide the miles per tank by the number of gallons shown on the gas pump, the mpg of the CRv is 11% lower, if you're a cautious/slow driver and 20% lower if you're an aggressive driver (when compared to the window sticker mpg numbers).

If the CR-V had the technology found inside the Accord it’s price point would make more sense yet it’s the least technologically fun vehicle in comparison to the hybrid Sportage or Tucson. I would love to see the 12.3 in screen make its way in and the assistant options. Right now the CR-V is a bloated priced car with missing features that make it the worst buy.

Honda knows that they'll sell a boatload of these. We've seen it here at Jim Gilbert's Wheels and Deals that CR-V owners come in and will ONLY consider a Honda, and that's not a problem. If you're happy with something, why change. Having said that, I'm pretty clear in the video that there are competitors at this price point that can give you more tech, or more features, for a similar price.

IT'S A HONDA...... the HYBRID is amazing, I have ONE... same colour.... fully loaded.... with snow tires and rims for our Winters here in Alberta, Canada.... Mine in Canadian dollars was 60K with all warranties upgraded, tire and rim protection, 3m coating on the whole hood, rust proofing as here again in Canada they use NASTY salts and chemicals to break down the snow and ice on the roads..... I had 2 Ridgeline Black Editions... a 2019 and then a 2021... prior to the 3 Honda's.... I traded from a Mercedes Benz GLA AMG 45.... so 375 horse power Beast... to a WAY MORE gentle on the ENVIRONMENT... or was it... depending on who tells you about HOW the MINE for Battery chemicals.... and its a Hybrid, vs a whole Electric... then HOW do we produce electricity to CHARGE these E.V's... at least the Honda is.... Hybrid... less fuel but still better on the SNV than the Mercedes was and the trucks with 3.6 litre engine v6. or is it an Inline 6 ?

I’m underwhelmed by the hybrid fuel efficiency. RAV4 hybrid gets 38 mpg epa hwy. This gets 36 mpg epa hwy …same as RAV4 prime (in hybrid mode) that carries around a 18.8 kwh battery and an additional electrical engine. Many on Reddit are reporting CRV getting hwy speeds of 32-34. I understand the AWD and drivability is superior but come on Honda, why is this so inefficient for 2023?

For the umpteenth time someone brings up the RAV4 mileage. The RAV4 has a totally fake AWD system. It is able to shed 200 pounds because of that. And it might be ok for a normal person but it lets the tires spin before the rear motor kicks in.

This is something that I’m struggling with right now. @@PanhandleAudit My wife has now had her Honda crv sport hybrid for 2 months and after 3500 miles of mixed driving although greater mileage is on the highway, she's averaging about 35mpg Whenever I take her car on a trip, I get 40 mpg - that's because I drive like an old man and I know hypermiling techniques. I don't brake and jackrabbit the gas pedal at all where I can avoid it. I slow down ahead of red lights. Keep in mind that the real test is not what the gauge tells you, it's how many miles you get out of a tank. The ride and suspension quality are truly amazing in that car and the handling is A+ but it isn't half bad on some hyundai models either. For my sake I chose a 23 hyundai santa fe sel premium hybrid because it had nicer appointments inside, cool features, better tech and a full spare tire. As long as you're not buying a 17 mpg escalade, do not fret over 3-4 mpg. You will do fine with a tucson hybrid or escape hybrid.
