@@bigredmatt1011 You would be supprised. I know someone who lives out in the middle of nowhere (130 miles to the closest major city, and a 20 minute drive on the highway to get groceries) and their only car is a chevy bolt. They absolutely love it, and it gets them everywhere the need just fine. Sure, when they drive into the city to visit family they have to charge once they get there. But that isn't an issue for them since they just plug in at the garage.

Stopped at a yeild merging onto a highway where people are flying up on you at 70-75 mph. Count out 13 seconds and imagine how quickly a person going 70+ mph is going to come up on you even if they are far away. Even on regular roads turning onto to it and having to accellerate up to 50-55, all it takes is seconds for a distracted driver to fail to see you're not going at the speed limit. Yes in these situations your tech not at fault, but it doesn't mean that your slow ass car isn't creating those situations.

We just bought a 22 HRV. Magic seats, much better cupholders, and despite a smaller motor its faster than this. This version lost all the charm and half the utility. I was thinking the same thing. I’m also in SoCal and I’ve experienced some baking summers here. It’s small enough that maybe the front vents can be sufficient for rear passengers, but I’m still disturbed that Honda didn’t put rear vents even in the EX-L trim. I’m assuming it has under-seat vents, but will need to check for myself. I’m confused by Honda’s thinking with this vehicle. They put the effort into designing an attractive and interesting vehicle. Then they gimp it with a weak engine and missing some key features like rear vents and a rear center armrest.

I’m not into performance just functionality so the tech upgrades were pleasant. Yes I agree it’s a bit sluggish when merging but once you’re up to the speed it’s nice. But I was able to get to 60 in about 9 seconds is the only difference in this video. I enjoy driving it for my lifestyle and needs and I adore my car. If the old one was so severely under powered (as most testers have said, and which kept me away) then what have they done here other than reduce the fuel economy in the process? This seems like a silly update which ends up largely cosmetic. Really should have thrown the 1.5t in this tuned down a touch ending up with more power than this and better economy.

I like the look of this, but CVT is a deal breaker for me. I don't particularly care for a slushbox with constant droning and having to rev the nuts off the engine just to get some acceleration. I'm still waiting for Ford Maverick to be available for ordering again. I'd like the turbo 2.0 in the Maverick, I've heard they're pretty good.

Nice review, does this vehicle have that dreaded “start/stop” system? If so, does it have a button to disable it, thanks

What I learned from this is that the Civic should come with AWD. :D The interior and exterior design is wasted on that drivetrain.

Ah, HONDA, you've failed once again. Everyone was screaming bloody murder on how slow the previous HR-V was. You had the chance to up your game and put a turbo in this or electrify it and what did you guys do? You made this heavier and more of a gas guzzler than the previous iteration. I hope you go bankrupt as everyone else is leaving you behind in their dust. You've proven that here in North America you are no longer relevant. And I say this as someone who's only driven HONDA vehicles.

I wish they gave the car more horse power, its my only complaint with the HRV, its nice that Honda is making the interior look just like the Acura Integra though.

This seems like a really good first new car (for those who can afford it)- but that 0-60 is just painfully slow. I wouldn’t consider it a deal breaker if you use this car for just commuting- it’s not meant to be special (but a little bit more power wouldn’t hurt anybody)

Bigger, even slower than the previous one (which was quite slow), no more magic seats. The front of an Escape, the back end of an Outback with that bubble like lift door, rounded shape interior of the 90's except that civic board. Meh. Honda offerings are going downwards. Overall quality suffering, performance as well, looks so ordinary. I miss the Honda brand that had quality, sportiveness and fun to drive of previous years.

If I had the practicality needs that the HRV satisfies, I’d buy a civic sport hatch and a set of snow tires on separate rims (if my concern was inclement weather during the winter)

Could the HRV be a conspiracy to buck the trend of ditching low cars for SUVs? As much as it's competition is a Corolla cross, the Civic Hatch 2.0 will also get cross shopped against HRV
