Other tips from our most recent DL trip are these: 1) Designate one person in your family/party as the Genie+ manager so nobody else has to stress or worry about keeping all these details straight. 2) Don't just give up on your LL reservation if you happen to miss the time window. We got stuck on Jungle Cruise and missed out Smuggler's Run LL window. We almost wrote it off, but decided to go over anyway in hopes of finding a sympathetic cast member. Turns out we didn't even need that, as our LL still scanned even 15 mins after our window "expired"

#1 Indian Jones LL isn't worth it. You just cut out the outdoor line, but not the indoor line (maybe that will change with the renovations). Rope drop that line instead. #2 Wait for at 10am time slot to book your first ride. The first two hours don't have a long wait anyway. Don't wait until 9am to book your first ride. Wait for a 10am LL slot! #3 Make Space Mountain your first LL. It is the most popular Genie+ ride so the LL time slots get late quickly. If you book a time slot for later, you have 120 minutes in the middle of the day with nothing to do. If you book 10am as soon as it's available, you'll have the rest of the day to book other LL. The more popular the ride, the further spaced out the LL will be. Less popular ride have LL available immediately. #4 Use the "modify" feature on the LL. You can change your LL to a different time or a different ride without needing to cancel it first. This is a new feature. EDIT. Book your first ride at 8am but MODIFY to be after 10am.

Why wouldn’t you book your first LL 8am so you could book the second at 10am?

@@LCLand Book it at 8am but modify the time until after 10am. Then you can still book another LL at 10am AND book another ride after you use the first one. It’s a way to stack. Using one of your precious LLs in the morning for only a 20 minute wait is essentially a waste of a LL. Chris actually talks about it in his updated Genie+ video.

Thank you! This video helped us start a chain of events that gave us not one, not two, but 3 LL's within a very short time! We came form Iowa, we scheduled the Haunted Mansion and it broke down. Then I remembered this video and started thinking about what we were supposed to do. As soon as the multi location pass came up, I rescheduled the Haunted Mansion. Then, not quite understanding everything ( I haven't been to Disneyland in 30 years, and my GF's first time) we thought it was okay to rush over to Guardians to use the pass there. We scanned and the guy said that the multi pass didn't work there, he showed us in the app where it showed that, then he said "but you know what, come on in anyway." So we still had the original Haunted Mansion waiting for us, we miracled our way into the Guardians LL, and we STILL had our multi location pass to use which we opted for Big Thunder Mountain. It was a great run!

My only tip, kind of in line with setting alarms to remind you when to go on to get next lightning lane pass would be alarms to set to go on and mobile order your food, typically an hour before you want to eat. I'm not sure if you have a video on mobile ordering or not but it can be tricky for those who haven't done it yet. And Disney offers amazing options for specific diets and allergies and things so it's great to be aware of that going in.

Hey Chris just because I didn’t see you mention it but I believe it’s a recently added feature where you can also modify your current genie+ selection. The people at WDW call it genie slots because you can keep refreshing the page with no risk of losing the current selection and possibly getting an earlier time for that ride or picking a different ride that might have a closer time slot available

I did this to great success at WDW. I was able to consistently book times earlier and earlier in the day on high-demand rides. At Magic Kingdom, we used G+ on almost every ride and never waited more than 15 minutes for any rides on a day where the crowds were insane. We walked right onto almost half of our G+ reservations.

I did not know about the ride breaking down when you have Genie+. Another tip I learned when having Genie+ is to redeem your ticket within the 1 hr time frame. That tip has helped immensely with my Disneyland experiences. It's really different with how Disneyland is working nowadays with all of this phone technology system. Great video! My family just completed an amazing trip to Disneyland and we fully utilized rope dropping, Genie +, and mobile ordering food. We didn’t have to wait more than 25 minutes for anything (including Peter Pan and all three of the individual LL rides without paying extra or stay at a Disney owned hotel). We always had a Genie + reservation booked at all times-until ready to leave and got to enjoy so many attractions, shows, live entertainment, a photo session with a cast member at Galaxy’s Edge, and the Magic Happens parade. We used a multi experience pass to ride Alice in Wonderland (that either kept going down or had long waits) when the Matterhorn went down, which was awesome! We still got ride the Matterhorn, so we didn’t miss out 😉

(1) as a former child of a parent, he is correct: I don’t and never did remember *anything* special about the rides. I remember my mom and I would always (we had the old school four season pass to Disney world) eat at the same restaurant because I liked the architecture, I remember us *driving to* Disney world and making fun of the radio recording they played on your radio as you drove in, I remember getting to buy my *one* small stuffed animal per trip, and I remember the emotions. I have zero emotional connection to the *rides*. He is sooo right when he says the rides ultimately don’t matter. I mean if you can afford the genie thing then get it, but if you can’t get on a ride, how you react and respond to that can be *fun* or it can be something else. I just wanted to add my two cents. We were there last week and had to use genie plus 1 day but the other days the lines were short enough. We park hopped and rope dropped in Disneyland two days in a row. Our plan was Peter Pan, Alice-in-Wonderland then get in line for Mickey and Minnie's right at 9 am and we were able to ride it twice! Then, we did dumbo, tea cups, and all the slow loaders in Fantasyland. Worked every time!!! We didn't need to start using genie plus until 11 am. We were sure to book our first DCA LL for RSR ASAP. I had to keep checking and checking and it finally gave us a time, but it was for 5 pm!! The one thing that we weren't prepared for was later return times for LL in DCA. By the time we got going at DCA, our return times kept getting later in the day (RSR, TSM, SOC) and we had 2 hours to kill in between lightning lane return times. Since you can only hold one at a time, it made it so we did not have time to ride everything before the kids got tired. We did not make it on Web Slingers or Goofy's Sky School.

You don’t need to be on your phone constantly for using genie plus. Just know you have a LL coming up, use it, and while you’re waiting to get on your ride, book your next LL. Keep those in mind and you won’t be on your phone much

I was at Disneyland for Christmas (like Christmas Day). I found genie+ amazing at Disneyland. But I hated it at California adventure. And I actually had a genie+ booked for incredi coaster and it broke down. But about 5 minutes before my time slot I just got a notification that it had been cancelled. Then the ride was down most of the day. Love your positive vibes!

Quick tip if you want to ride the incredicoaster and you start at DCA usually till 10 or 11 thats when the line picks up I usually ride the incredicoaster in the mornings about 5 times and the wait time is about 15 min

I used the trick last year when I went to get a LL on a ride that was down, it worked twice in 3 days and I got to go on Indiana Jones and Haunted Mansion holidays extra times! Definitely worth trying, especially if there's some Genie+ rides that you're not super like "omg yes must ride", especially if their slots don't go out quite as fast as others (lookin' at you Buzz Lightyear). I sat on those to wait if sudden ride closure came up and it worked out two out of the three times I got to try. Definitely worth trying!

The best tip is don't buy into Genie Plu$ , Genie plu$ makes stand by lines longer because Genie plu$ cuts infront of others, and another way of taking your money, 4 people costs $100. It gives you 2 hours between all rides so if disneyland is open for 12 hours that is only 6 to 7 rides, and you can't do a ride twice per day with genie plus, with and lightning lanes there is still a wait.
