I bought a 2022 SEL model just before 2023 came out. The gas mileage is absolutely insane. For a non hybrid hwy today was getting 50+mpg around town I get 36mpg. So for my first New (New) car I love it. Literally bought it fresh off the boat 🤣

It's a great car, I just bought the 2023 Hybrid Limited in Electric Shadow color. Love it. Owned a 2014 Elantra and the 2023 is bigger. If you didn't know, the Hybrid has an independent rear suspension and has a better ride than the non Hybrid. I am getting about 56 MPG average at this point

One correction, there is only one kind of Lane Keep Assist. The feature that stays on is actually Lane Departure Warning with vehicle position correction.

Thanks for your comment, and your support! Yes the black leather interior also has a cloth backing on the seat. Yes this is cyber grey 4 to 6 months for non - hybrid factory orders. Hybrids are non-order allocations. So it depends on the wait-list of your dealership, but you can expect about a year.

I prefer the look of the lighter colour interior personally. It looks more upscale. It's also better in the summer. A lot of people worry about keeping it clean, but honestly with the right cleaning product is actually super easy

Thanks for this in depth look at the vehicle! I just got notice my 2023 Elantra Luxury I ordered in May arrived at the dealership! Going to pick it up this weekend. That being said, I will say I'm slightly disappointed that some of the little niceties (power driver's seat, heated rear seats, LED headlights, auto-dim rear view mirror) that I noticed in the 2022 Ultimate I test drove aren't in the Luxury trim level for 2023. Was given the impression there'd be a non N-Line Ultimate trim and didn't know a new (or returned it seems like) Luxury trim level was coming into play. I don't blame the dealership, I know you guys sometimes are finding stuff out not too much before us. More slightly annoyed at Hyundai for the last minute audible after I put my deposit down. Not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination...it's still looking like an excellent car for the price I paid for it. But lesson's learned for me to pump the brakes (no pun intended) and see what the trim levels are before putting down an order. All told, though, I'm quite excited to get into my car this weekend! @@edsgarage001 That's actually on me. I wanted the better fuel economy of the engine that was in the 2022 Ultimate and my soon to be 2023 Luxury model. I told my dealer I wasn't interested in N-Line anything when we were talking over the order back in May. Not that they're bad models, the N-Lines look really good! But it's just not what I'm aiming for in my new car. Less vroom vroom, more gadgets at the end of the day, haha. But again, thanks for taking the time to do this pretty thorough look at the car in a pretty straightforward manner. Also, looks beautiful out there...maybe I should do a Trans-Canada road trip sometime from Toronto to BC...

Thx for the comment. If you're in Ontario, then I would expect two months from production date. So likely January. We have wireless Android auto and apple carplay too, but only in the units that *don't* come with built in navigation. Same as in the USA actually.

I think it's just the LEDs in the tail lights. I think the full LED system with the light bar is only on the ultimate.

With the latest software update, the Hyundai Nav software understands the word 'navigate'. But IMO, the google software is still a superior Nav solution. I added a wireless adapter ($85 CAD through Amazon) so I now enjoy wireless Android Auto on my Elantra Luxury Hybrid.

No, it's just an added trim level There used to be a luxury trim in the last generation as well. I'm guessing they brought it back as a result of the chip shortage. There's still the ultimate (now called n-line Ultimate). But the ultimate was just a slightly different version of the limited trim for USA markets.

Marcelle F - yes, Hyundai and Kia has made several changes over the past ten years, but as the styling has moved in a positive direction - the quality of construction has been on a constant decline since 2012-2013. Kyundia and Kia has had several major recalls because of engine failures and several component failures that cause fires. If you still have your 2013 Elantra and it works well, keep it.

​@@marcellef8302, Great idea, just check on all the recalls for engine failures, replacement engine failures, fires started from leaking fuel lines, and now exploding seat belt systems. We had a 2015 KIA Sportage with a defective engine. We lucked out because after three months the dealership purchased our car because of the low miles and condition. I lost money, but traded for a Toyota Rav4 of the same year and mileage. It is good to keep what you have.

Wow... Just no... Hyundais quality has been improving. There's clear evidence of that over the last ten years. The reality is, they're selling significantly more vehicles now, so of course you're going to hear about more issues. Plus, as they're one of the fastest growing manufacturers in the world right now, they're also in the media spotlight. Check out JD power and associates reliability data, Hyundai has climbed from mediocre to leader. Sure they've had some issues, but so has every other manufacturer.

(Not seats, the Elantra has only ever had a power drivers seat) The luxury didn't exist in 2021, and it's a new trim. It's not a downgraded Ultimate, it's an entirely new trim level. So my original reply was based on you saying that Hyundai downgraded.. But they didn't. They just added a trim, and upgraded the Ultimate to the n-line Ultimate.

It's chain driven, not belt driven like Nissan's. It's not made by Jatco (the company that has had all the issues) And it's also got a higher and lower ratio then a typical CVT making it better performing and more efficient. The reality is, the only way to compete with the fuel efficiencies from companies like Honda and Toyota is to do similar things. They also use variable transmissions. I prefer a traditional auto as well... But pretty much every company uses a variable ratio transmission these days, so the best we can ask for is a reliable one. If you don't like it, no problem, get the manual or the dual clutch in N-line or N Elantra. Or get a hybrid Elantra🤷. With the Elantra, there's many options.
