I just leased one today. There is a $7500 federal credit you get at point of sale, as well as a $3500 MA state tax credit at point of sale as well. Because I was already a Hyundai customer, Hyundai gave me another $2500 loyalty bonus and the dealership gave me another $1500 off MSRP. My $53000 ioniq 6 ended up being $38k. Now that was a good deal. 👌🏼

The average price for a car in the US is $48k, so $57K isn't that crazy for a long range EV

Average prices are pushed higher buy the expensive cars and the prices are coming down.
@guttagutta420 Жыл бұрын
Yes cars are becoming overpriced. But to your point, $57k is crazy expensive for a non luxury brand ev. You can get a model 3 long range which is good for 333 miles of range plus it has more features than the ioniq 6 se (the only variant that promises that range) for $47k. Hell, you can get the model y long range for $50k and get 330 miles of range. There’s better options out there…this is way overpriced as is the ev6. Hyundai and Kia seem to think they’re vehicles are worth these price points and they’re not even close.

Speaking to the seemingly all plastic interior- I know in the OG Ioniq hybrid those plastics were made of a fair amount of recycled materials including volcanic ash and sugarcane (if I’m remembering right). Is that still the case? Maybe they’re still leaning into that.

If I had to get an Ioniq 6, I would get the Limited RWD and then change them out for some 18 after market wheels in order to retain the longer range and still have ventilated seats, which is VERY much a necessity here in Texas during the spring, summer, fall and sometimes in winter.

I just canceled an order for a RWD Lucid Air Pure. I am VERY interested in the Ioniq 6, but VERY disappointed that the Ioniq 6 does NOT offer Hyundai's Heads Up Display in the US (they do offer it in the Ioniq 5). I would not consider the de-contented version of the Ioniq 6. Range is a key requirement for me. This is because I keep my vehicles a long time, and range is not going to improve as the car gets older.

I own a First Edition Ioniq 6 (AWD limited sunroof) and its range is absolutely sufficient for me, as we have a very good system of HPCs here in Germany.

ICE cars were basically the same for decades because they’d squeezed all they could out of the technology. So little useless luxury touches were differentiators. EVs are a new technology with a huge potential for design and technology growth. So things like whether the interior has plastic (lightweight and sustainable BTW) will be less important than things like efficiency, safety, autonomous features, EV-centered parts (not parts bin) will be what knowledgeable customers onside.
@lanceareadbhar Жыл бұрын
I think the best value are the SE models for the extra range and very good features included. If you have the money, you could put the smaller wheels on the higher trims for more range. 250 highway in worst conditions should be the standard and I think the SE AWD on eco would be close to that if needed.
@guttagutta420 Жыл бұрын
Depends on what you value. If you value range then yes, the se would be your best best. If you value tech & features and are willing to give up a little range then the limited is your best bet.

The looks are polarizing but I'm a fan. The car drives well and I appreciate the safety features, OTA updates, and V2L capabilities. That said, the interior is a bit lackluster. More importantly, Hyundai needs to add the wheels to the options list. Let me get the AWD higher trim version with the smaller wheels. I live in the snow belt and want the AWD but would also like to benefit from the increased range. The 6 could also benefit from some better color options. Black, White, Silver? Fine, they're expected. But the Blue is effectively gray with a hint of blue and the Green is basically black with a hint of green. The red is muted. Mazda's candy apple red really shines and the 6 could benefit from bolder choices. I think I'll wait for the 2024s to show up. Maybe Hyundai will add the HUD that the 5 already has, add heat for the rear seats, and provide some better color options.
@treehugger354 Жыл бұрын
Exactly what I've been saying. Color options stink and forcing you to take a 50 mile cut in range if you go mid trim or upper is a lousy move by Hyundai. If I am spending over $50k for a car, I should not then have to pay for smaller wheels and tires after the fact because of their lousy business decision. Unfortunately, given how new it is, the 2024 model is essentially the 2023 with no refresh from what I read. I did let Hyundai know they blew it with these choices. Hopefully if enough tell them this they might just listen.

This costs too much for what it is if I’m being honest, especially with the sub par interior materials. Yes the range is impressive on the se model (if you even get near that…need to see some real world tests) but honestly that’s about it. I’m going to wait for the 24 kona…all the same features, it’s more aesthetically pleasing and it’s about $15k less and that’s the limited trim. Go lower and you’re saving even more. Sure you give up some range but it’s still plenty for most folks needs and more than my volvo c40. And if you are comparing limited to limited with awd range is about the same.

This is a compelling car. Besides the long recharging times, yes I know Hyundai is faster under perfect conditions, biggest issue for me not jumping into EV is resale 5 to 7 years from now. Who wants to buy a 5 year old used EV out of warranty when battery replacement would cost as much as the car itself. Like many gas cars, will this be on the road 10 years from now. I currently have a 2018 Toyota Tundra that I am confident will be on the road 10 years from now even though it is 6 years old already. Are EVs just disposable cars cost so much?
