Jason as fantastic of a rider he was blew it....plain and simple. If your going to be a professional you have to be a professional. Look at Barcia...looked at by some as a outlaw but still knows how to be a professional and knows to appreciate the gift he has as a rider and not to take it for granted. Bob Hannah is another example who knew where to draw the line from being outspoken and a rebel ( an asshole in some people opinion) but respecting the opportunities presented to him. It also helps to be surrounded by people to keep you grounded and save you from yourself. There have been countless riders of past and present that have gone down the same path and wasted their talent and took for granted the small window of opportunity to become the multi championship winning riders they were capable of being.....Marty Tripes, Bob Grossi, Rich Eirsteidt, Kenny Zahrt, Danny Chandler, Ron Lechien, Mickey Dymond, ect. Grant you some of the riders were a product of the era but guys like Marty Smith Brad Lackey, Gary Jones had the right people, wife's and parents around them to keep them on the right track and provide proper guidance and support.. If you were part of Jason Lawrence's camp at the time and now sit and make excuses for him then you to were not able or willing to take him aside and set him straight and are missing the point. 3:04

him not making a reappearance in some capacity and capitalizing on how much ppl wanna hear from him is even stupider than his earlier antics. he is blowing a real big opportunity. there is demand. i dont know exactly what it would be that he could do, but a good marketing guru could make that fool rich again solely from his lore. this will end up being his 2nd biggest regret when he gets real old and realizes that finally noone gives a shit to even hear his story anymore

You missed the point. The career wouldve been smoother and more likely to last if the commentary/media didn't milk JLaw's mistakes as much as they could. Its a downward spiral when the media is constantly reinforcing the worst. or as mentioned in the clip from J Hill's personal experience, the media can cause a downward spiral when they start to assume the worst, and write false statements as fact.

@jonruger
@jonruger Жыл бұрын
@@Jake_Hamlin the media rightly so was on his ass because he was a fuck up constantly in trouble. And eventually it cost him a career because no brand was willing to put their name behind him anymore. This sport is largely about kids so having a guy like that appeals to no parents because he is not a role model Dungey and Villo were just as good as him but they were both role models and good people. With anything in life if you are problematic people will always choose the person who is not. Say if you owned a company and needed to hire someone and had two candidates with equal skills but one is violent and has an addiction issue so they won’t always show up. But the other is very easy to work with and never misses a day of work which will you choose??? That’s RV/RD to JLaw and why guys like him never last in any sport or profession.

"Iconic"?? Because he could party, be a bad boy, and still ride (for a while)? Not my definition of an icon. I don't know anything about the person or his life, but I do remember him pissing his career away with his childish antics. What I don't remember, was him having as many fans as this comment section suggests. I guess over time these kinds of dudes turn into "icons", no matter how bad they crashed and burned. If there's a story to be heard, it would best serve it's purpose as a cautionary one.

He rode there a few times after his championship and after alot of the altercations he stopped. He later started to come and try sone of the off road races that were local to him.
