Hate to see the crash, but glad you’re okay and that Kawi was cool about it! I’m not super fast, but I would stand to bet that your lowside was due to being too stiff/too much weight on the bars. From the rearward facing cam you’re nearly straight-armed…with the speed you were going on that corner, you shouldn’t have lost the rear…get more comfortable & find a way to be barely touching the bars (no matter how tired you are) and you’ll run less lean angle and easily recover from moments like this IMHO!

Yep, sorry to see you go down and glad your fine LC. It's certainly an awesome bike - the pull it had (with you onboard) was impressive. I think with all the views your video's get, Kawa will still come out ahead after repairs - Bang for your buck the ZX10 is right up there and you certainly showed what it's capable of. When you talked of the why behind your drop, I think you also picked another part of it earlier in the vid, when you spoke about getting tired - riding at that level/pace on a high performance sports bike dosn't leave room for fatique. Thanks for a great look at the ZX10 and keep up the great work.

Main thing is that you’re ok buddy! Shame about the bike, but as someone else said, Kawasaki knew that was a risk when they lent it to you. Doesn’t sound too bad as Kawasaki can likely source those parts on internal cost. From their perspective, it was a great test and showed how good the bike actually is! I’d be interested to see your road test on it, and how it compares on the road to other litre sports bikes (like the S1RR). Great video as ever Chopsy!

We’ve all been there, for sure. I don’t believe you were on the throttle. Rather, and as you noted, you were getting faster throughout the long, hot day, and were leaning the bike further and further, occasionally touching the peg. I think you simply leaned too far and the bike got tripped up when the peg caught. Again, I put it down to the long day and being overheated. The fix is to try to use body position a bit more to reduce the bike lean. (I don’t mean to be a wise guy. I’ve been counseled by school coaches for doing the same thing: going too fast in corners and leaning too close to hard parts, as well as becoming less consistent late in extremely hot days.) It would be well worth a few days of instruction re: body position and bike lean as well as standing the bike up on exit. So glad you are okay and that Kawasaki UK are being gems about it.
@jangraham7424 Жыл бұрын
Been there - but not on someone else's bike! Hope you don't mind a question, since I've been thinking about one of these - Surely the 10R has slip control and lean-sensitive TC? Were you not past the apex and picking up the power? Isn't that exactly what TC is for? What happened? I don't know the 10R dash at all, but I didn't see a TC light at all in the footage before the crash - I didn't see warmers, so I presume you were on the OEM rubber? My recent experience on road rubber (V4 Tuono at Silverstone and 1000RR at Brands (and GS at Brands, but that's different)) is that the thing's blinking on every corner exit unless you turn the TC way down. If there was no TC light at all in previous laps, how come? Did you turn the TC off? Just re-reading that, it seems a little unsympathetic - sorry about your off, fella; at least it happened while you were a long way over, there wasn't far to fall, was there?!
@LambChopRides Жыл бұрын
Hi Graham, yeah I think as I was right on the very edge of the tyre it was beyond TC help.. Its not infallible and right on the edge going on gas in 1st gear it couldn't save me. Was on OEM rubber which I think didn't help matters..

Me and my friend actually crashed both our ZX-10R's 7 days ago on Spa. He has a 2019 SE and went in the rain in the fast left after Blanchimont. Yes very big bill😮. And I went with my 2008 in the La Source hairpin over a wet patch list the front. Drove 3 hours home with a painfull wrist, which is now in a cast because of a small fracture. It sucks but it just happens with track riding, especially when you get faster and faster. Overall I have done atleast 35 trackdays. Crashed on my very first trackday and now in my last. Had way more close calls then I can count, but you can't always dodge that bullit.

That ride was fantastic and Kawasaki make very nice bikes the ninja is one of the most badass SS out there , for the crash i think is due to the stiffness of your handling, when going sporty or on the track you must have your arms relaxed and not grab the steering in corner because this leads to crash and this happened also to me , you make very nice vidoes 👍

As a comment about your riding. You need to start using more of the track. Especially on corner exit . The esses after the back straight highlights this the most . It would also explain the crash as you had tightened up the bike instead of letting it run out wider on the power. Great video though. The main thing is you’re ok but for some bumps and bruises 👍! Bikes can be fixed 😉. You have to figure when manufacturers loan out bikes to be used on the track, or even on the road, it comes with a certain amount of knowledge that some of them might suffer a bit of damage.

I think you had the wrong line into that right-hander. You may have run over the painted white line at a considerable lean angle resulting in a loss of traction. If you had stomped your right foot down hard enough you might have been able to lift the bike up and saved it. I'm glad you were not injured in the crash. I've learned everything I know by watching MotoGP on television!
@siraff4461 Жыл бұрын
You're ok and the bike can be repaired. I'd call that a good result for a drop on track. Infact there are a few good things about this. Firstly you know how far you can push it now - though I think the heat may have played a part in this because it looked like you were taking that corner in a similar way most of the later sessions so an overly hot tyre won't have helped. Secondly if you can buy that bike and split the difference on parts or something with Kawasaki I bet it would make an awesome track bike. Shorter gearing and a map to soften the throttle could make that a gem to throw about on track. Lastly I doubt Kawasaki are going to lose out even after the bike was crashed. They know its likely some will go down on track tests and allow for it but on top of that this is some great onboard footage which is really hard to get from a UK track and having seen it I'm kind of wanting a zx10 now. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Hey Sir, you're quite a big name among 'testers' on KZbin and Kawasaki surely have all this covered cos its on a track and you're giving it the beans as they say. Main thing is you're good to go for the next fight. Was the bike suspension set up for your weight on track? Bike does look a bit of a large lump but looks lovely.
