@crosslinkedcomponents why did you guys switch to plastic zip ties? Seems off. Also, why not aluminum for the brackets? Just got a set and can’t say I was psyched on the added weight.
@highlandcycles Жыл бұрын
The brackets being steel makes sense to me. It’s tougher and easier to keep people from stripping out the holes where the Allen screws go. The plastic zip ties?? Yeah I’m with ya but if you remove these to clean underneath often the plastic makes more sense.

I really want polisport to release one for these bikes. I'm sure these are better but after all the other protective bits, I'd rather spend $30 vs $150.

I was cringing when you threw those on without cleaning the swing arm first. I love it though. I would have wasted a bunch of time taking scratches off with heavy scotch bright, maybe some sand paper for raised gouges and soap and water.
@highlandcycles2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha. They are easy to get of and on now that it’s done once. Just the two bolts and the zip tie. I’ll be cleaning under them pretty frequently

I am a new rider. I just got a dual sport (Honda XR650l 2022). Should I get a plastic or aluminum skid plate? Opinions welcome.
@highlandcycles2 жыл бұрын
For that bike I would look at aluminum. It is a heavy bike and if you hit something hard on plastic it would mess it up.

We have over a hundred sets in the wild. Most go well over 200 hours before wearing out. On occasion someone finds a way to kill them in one hit. But if you break them too fast never hesitate to reach out and we can hook you up with a new single side.

Morgan, do the XC bikes have an “SX” dog bone versus the enduro bikes having a different linkage setup? What that do?
@highlandcycles2 жыл бұрын
The XC and SX have a linkage style rear suspension. The W and EXC models have a PDS rear shock which is just bolted to the frame and the swing arm without a linkage. The linkage makes the rear suspension more progressive and generally makes the bikes feel more planted in the higher speed stuff
@lostinpa-dadenduro75552 жыл бұрын
@@highlandcycles Oh sorry, I meant like on the GasGas. I should have said EC (enduro) and EX (cross country). The EX parts diagram lists an SX dog bone and different shock part number versus the EC models

I used swing arm guards once. After I finally took them off I noticed the dirt behind them sanded my swing arm. Never used them again. Just bling IMO. Too much of a pain to remove for every washing.
@highlandcycles2 жыл бұрын
These ones are pretty easy. Just those two Allen bolts and a zip tie. Also, I think the mounting system will keep them much more steady which should reduce the abrasive action. But we will find out
@crosslinkedcomponents44942 жыл бұрын
These are far from bling. For riders that damage there swingarms this is the only true protection. Covering your swingarm with some clear vinyl before install can help. Or washing them off real good after a super muddy day.

Stainless steel zip ties fix cheap guards from falling off but cool guards you have there.
@crosslinkedcomponents44942 жыл бұрын
Hey brotha! We have tried the stainless ties on the ole cheapies. The next problem is they crack and disentegrate. These should last a few hundred engine hours for the gnarliest hard enduro terrain. Have a good one!

Yeah, it's probably just me, a glutton for unnecessary details but...try totally cleaning/detailing your now trashed swingarm before applying the guards. And removing the guards every time you clean that beautiful 300XC. I have said my peace so, carry on.👍🏼 Side note, is that they are a bit pricey $150.00👊🏼
@highlandcycles2 жыл бұрын
The swing arm was already trashed. These are to cover that stuff up. LOL. But also they come off super easy which I will be doing frequently. Oh and this thing is far from beautiful anymore. Just a dirt bike now.

@@crosslinkedcomponents4494 Yeah, all good. It appears to be a quality product. And if riding in rocks is what you do, it would be very beneficial and a small price to pay for a season(and beyond) of protection. Thanks for the reply.👍🏼
