The majority of the competition will end up being much more expensive when facturing in reliability. I'd take this any day all day over any other.

Just bought my 3rd Lexus, the 23’ NX350H. I paid it off today, but I never thought I’d spend $48k 20yrs ago!

I bought LX premium almost a year ago. Traded in my 4Runner. No regrets. I think you need to look at LX as a niche vehicle build for other markets. It’s is LC300 with Lexus badge. It’s Japan’s G Wagon. If you always wanted a brand new LC, LX is the ticket. Lexus is coming out with TX model with proper 3rd row to rival X7, GLS, etc.

Me personally, I don’t care if people find Lexus outdated. At least they still build more reliable and higher quality vehicles than Hyundai or Genesis.

I am always baffled by the way you guys emphasise the size of this vehicle when most of your pickups are bigger than it. It’s a big vehicle to the rest of the world,

"My gut pick would be the Jeep Wagoneer." I watched this a year ago when I bought my LX Luxury. While some of the remarks regarding "compromise" are true, do any of you own what you recommend? Wagoneer, BMW? That's what you recommend to consumers? Who buys the LX, like it's a defective mindset? 1 year last week for me, a recall I had done yesterday for a transmission problem that never occurred with me while getting the vehicle serviced, other than that it has been flawless, and I was offered 106k in the service bay, I paid 111k. Try that with a Wagoneer or a BMW after a year. I love it, I'm keeping it, and I am baffled that anyone under the guise of "consumer" assistance can make those recommendations with a straight face. Perhaps an update to that absurd recommendation is in order? Peace out.

Great episode. Very helpful to get your views on other cars in the same category and price range. It would be great if that can be done for all featured cars in future episodes.

Reliability is a BIG DEAL at this price point. I’ve owned two Escalades. They are bigger and more comfortable, but reliability is an issue. This thing is designed and engineered to run for hundreds of thousands of miles and 20 plus years without major issues. Not so much with GM or bmw.

Just like most of Toyota's TNGA cars and CUVs, the new TNGA-F trucks (Tundra, Sequoia, LX) suffer from cramped interiors. I worry what Toyota will do to the new 4Runner, GX and Land Cruiser Prado which are due in the next year or two. 🤨

Who buys it? The very wealthy that can afford the payment, the gas bill, and the insurance costs.... or livery drivers. I see a few in Uber Black duty.

Listening to Joe describe his testing job reminded me of Tom Wolfe's description of test pilots in "Right Stuff": consistency and following protocols. I could not get excited for the LX600 - too much of a throwback and too expensive.

80% plus of BEV’s are charged at home. Public infrastructure is growing fast. That being said there will still be a market for gas for a long time.

It is fascinating to see you three bemoan the loss of the V8 to a V6. I cannot tell a difference with my old 2013 LC V8 versus the LX V6. If anything I prefer the V6 as it is quieter and smoother. But, Lexus did not want to switch away from the V8 but government fuel and environmental standards globally have forced the OEM to do away with the V8 engines. Put the blame or credit where it is due!

With the new engine design to me its more of a BMW than a Toyota. So LX600 along with Sequoia & Tundra will be out of my list until no current Toyota N/A engines available. On a side note I know out side of USA Land Cruiser 300 is available with 4.0V6. Not sure if USA can get that as an option. But with the extra weight not sure if it would be way under-powered for our highways.

I wouldn’t buy any of those American brands mentioned by you guys; If I’m going to be spending a nice chunk of change on a car, I need a RELIABLE one that won’t be in the shop a lot. Thankfully, my 2000 LX470 (which has 186,400 miles on it), is still reliable, drives (reasonably) quickly and smoothly, and looks great! (Sure, she’s not as fast/high powered, nor high tech as the LX600 and the American brands mentioned by you guys, but at least she’s not a money pit on wheels, plus gets me through the ChIraqi winters, and still has a nice smooth ride)!

In fifty years of being a subscriber to Consumer Reports, magazine and then online, I have come to the conclusion that you are at your best with rating appliances, washing detergents and bath towels, but really don't understand cars and really, really don't understand the Toyota Land Cruiser and its Lexus variants. As far as off roading, you would be surprised at how many are taken off road. I know, I have seen them. My own 2021 LC Heritage Edition has many hundreds of miles off road. That is what they are for. As far as the interior, they are elegantly utilitarian and not full of the over-stuffed button-tuck festoonery that plagues so many luxury SUVs.

I think it's because of 2 factors... 1 it's an old design even with the recent refresh to the patrol frame, and 2 it's just mot quite as nice. It's nice, but it's not 110k nice.

To your question of "what I would consider instead of the Lexus" I'd cheat and Kia Telluride and pocket the difference. At this point, more money is fundamentally paying for some systems I don't really value, and some infotainment interfaces I'd pay to avoid. If you wanted me to give a serious answer, I'd cheat one more time and say Rivian R1S. cheaper, great interior quality, and just an amazing vehicle in all aspects. But to finally give an actual answer, I would probably say the jeep as well. I would also note jeep has been moving in the right direction over the last several years, so maybe this model won't be so bad.

20:49 it is interesting because certain oil producers will fall faster than others. Saudi I'm convinced at this point will be last because they have the lowest overhead cost for oil by a wide margin, seriously no one is anywhere close. Who's first will be a lot harder question to answer. My first instinct is that it will be markets that just have extraction as part of their portfolio, and don't rely on it, will be first. Countries like the UK and the Netherlands. Will basically just stop producing oil because it's not profitable and they have other ways to make money. it's in the middle where things get tricky. countries with is as a main export might slowly become more stable, and possibly democratic, if their sales a cut off slowly and other economic activities rush in to fill the gap. The other possibility is the Russia option where the country double, triples, and quadruples down on oil, and their GPD slides down with it. leaving the country both broke and tyrannical. so lots of ways forward, but we'll see what happens. but yeah, I wouldn't worry about gas stations going away until you at the minimum start to see shell's stock start to slide consistently.

Why didn’t you discuss the V8 Lexus GX as a cheaper alternative? CR seems to ignore the proven nature of the GX but because it is not a new design, journalists forget about it.
@Guene6spd
@Guene6spd Жыл бұрын
CR gave it a lukewarm review even when it was new (poor fuel economy, poor handling, had awful emergency handling from the get go which led to Lexus stopping sales while it updated stability control software), no that spacious for a massive vehicle, and odd/heavy tailgate. Being 14 years old and farther behind at braking, tech, safety, and MPG only cements that it’s really good at not breaking and it’s nice enough inside.
