2023 Lucid Air Grand Touring Review: Nearly Perfect Except THESE Details

Making cars is hard! Newcomer @LucidMotors sent us the 2023 #LucidAir Grand Touring, which is their first car ever. We spent a week with the 2023 Lucid Air and came away generally impressed! Being a Grand Touring without the Performance package, it makes 819 HP and 885 lb-ft of torque. Ours had the optional 21" wheels, which reduced range from the maximum 516 miles to "just" 469 miles - still plenty for 99% of buyers. While the 2023 Lucid Air is indeed beautiful, very nice, and generally thought out, there were a few quirks not befitting a $150k luxury sedan, too.

Did anyone notice how Lucid gives you a bi-color interior (front seats one color with rear as a secondary color)?

I drove the Grand touring and came from it with a lot of respect. The car drove solid and swift. The drive was one of the best beside the Bentley flying spur.There are some thing missing like inputs from devices, better sound system, back seats are good but my knees were a bit high. The back seats doesn’t have the luxury feel of the front. Also finally at @$155k it is bit of stretch for it.

Yeah, the back seat is a bit light on what it offers vs some of the competition - and seating position back there is not the best either.

This design reminds me a bit of Chrysler's cab-forwad designs from the 90s, probably in part because of the packaging claims you talked about (E-class size with S-class sized interior)

They really need to have a 12v port in front for your devices like radar detector and dash cam. Nowhere to plug in is a major oversight

Yup, same here, and for Pure, there's a thick bar right across the middle of the cabin. They did not reengineer the monocoque frame for Pure as it does not have the glass roof but they just replaced the glass for sheetmetal. Terrible.

It's worth noting that Saudi Arabia's Investment fund is a massive backer of Lucid. It's also worth noting the Saudi governments treatment of gay people.

Yep absolutely. It’s not even just the treatment with us gay people but also women and people in general. Working conditions are disgusting, racism is insane, all other religions but islam are completely prohibited, Apostasy is punishable by death and talking bad about the monarchy is a crime.

Saudi Arabia's investment fund holds stakes in Beoing, Uber, Disney, Bank of America, etc. so I really wouldn't go this route and make it political.

Misleading from the get go "..been around for car company for some time..." no, they became company in 2021, before that, it was a battery supplier for Formula-E called Atieva. Lucid won't make it... you will see.
