Man I remember when the Maxima used to be the low key swagger whip to get once you came up in the world. Shame what they did to it. There was a time when it was the benchmark in the segment.

Yea I remember In the 90s if you had the Maxima you was doing good for yourself. I remember as a child seeing drug dealers in my town driving them with rims and sound systems specifically the 1987 bodystyle and the 1991 year model. The 2023 is still nice tho especially the Platinum

The design of this car is perfect .. the interior and exterior still holding up from 2016 but the infotainment system does feel outdated but majority of the time I have Apple car play on. They should’ve been more humble with the “4dsc” thing because it’s not a sports car but it definitely feels like one. The cvt isn’t built for that other than that the zero gravity seats really make it a great ride paring with the smoothness of the cvt.

Sad to see the Maxima discontinued after 2023 model year, NISSAN should have (never) put a CVT in the Maxima with 300hp, CTVs are for budget vehicles.......

Well its faster than an 8 speed cuz it doesn’t shift and directly delivers all the power you need..… i live in a GCC country and here those CVT’s are bulletproof.. its way different than those US specs that you guys have… here they come with a bigger cooler installed in front of the transmission, that was the issue of it breaking with y’all. Many people i know have driven more than 250k miles and are still doin well on these 2016 and above models. I have heard the reputation of CVT is very bad, but i dont hear about it here in Dubai, especially with the ones manufactured in 2016. If Nissan just installed the bigger cooler that they have installed for GCC specs cars, then you guys wouldnt have had any issues at all. Replacing CVT fluid wont fix this issue cuz after time it just gets too hot in there and will interfere with the valve… Overall its a perfect transmission for daily use and its really quicker than those 7 or 8 spd transmissions.. So to not encounter any issues, i recommend installing a good cooler

​@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8 it could be the reason why we aren't facing any issues at all, another reason is that our maxima's top speed is 157 miles stock unlike the us spec that can only speed till 140 miles. what that could also possibly mean is that it can handle more power

The Q50 still has a CD player. Maybe one or two other Infiniti models have it. And I think a couple Lexus models have it.

I was going to get a Infinity Q50 but the rear diff crossmember mount then an Audi A5 sportback but read about 2.0t motor timing chain horrors. So its back to a gently used Max for me soon I have an Altima and if you drain and fill the cvt fluid every 30k miles w synthetic Castrol or Amsoil they last alot longer. 20k cvt fluid changes even better its an easy 3.75qt drain and refill thru dipstick tube change paper pump filter every 60k. And dont drag race uphill. G70 and Stinger are still too pricey. Or you could ruin your credit w a used Benz or BMW paying for svc and repairs. Avalon is like your Dads Buick. Used Cadillac cts/ats is ok but that piano black dash around the radio screen and those chrome v shaped climate buttons on the dash center section make me feel dirty and queasy at the same time. Max is the OG 4DSC!

In the UK we still have saloons ( as we call them ) from BMW, Merc, Audi, Vauxhall and Peugeot. They are alive and well in China. Ford sells an exclusive Mondeo. VW and others also have some nice body styles. Very popular car type in China apparently

Smh, cvt really killed this car for me, it not I would’ve gotten one… heck if the Altima SR Turbo had a regular auto I would’ve gotten that too… Nissan has plagued their cars with cvt. My 2016 Sentra was a nightmare.

Yea the Altima turbo has CVT as well but that car is a beast picks up speed fast!!! But I agree they could have done more with the Maxima drivetrain and transmission

im not agreeing or disagreeing but i always wonder why people dont mention brands like honda, toyota, hyundai, subaru etc when talking down about cvt trans. nissan specifically always gets such a bad rap 😕
