Amazing car! Great design and high quality interior. Had one back in college. I loved the CVT! Was very smooth and responsive, and was always in the powerband.

Wish i could say the same about nissan cvts. While i never owned one, my stepmom had a 2016 sentra and the single time i drove it, it kept revving up to 4k rpm, then slowly went back down to 2k, then straight back up to 4k when all i was doing was coasting at 40 mph. About a month after that, the transmission died on her at a gas station and it wouldve been more to fix the transmission than the worth of the car

I had a 2016. Had issues with knocking in the back which took Nissan 2 years to resolve (bad shock) and front control arms and bushings needed replacement 50k in. I do remember you have to change cvt oil religiously every 30k or else it slows down and higher rpm than usual.

My mom had a 2016 when it came out. The interior was ahead of its class at the time and the engine sounded great, but the horrible transmission (rebuilt 2x in the 3 year lease period!) and the front wheel drive torque steer over hinder the experience.

Yea maxima is a good car but 40-45k is greed I remember in 1998 you could buy a brand new maxima from Nissan dealership for 25k that included sunroof and foglights at that

The Nissan Maxima is expected to return as a EV for 2026 MY with a unique design, interior enhancements with some Luxurious feel. The Maxima may drop the CVT in favor of a 9 speed automatic transmission. It's expected to arrive at showrooms in Fall 2025 with a estimated pricing of $67,000 for base Engage and $95,000 for Platinum+

I'm very pissed off at Nissan they discontinued the maxima I don't like cvt but I'm impressed by the style and interior it's a powerful V6 engine I wish they'd put the vr30 twin turbo V6 from the q50 and gave it a 9 speed I've looked up how it is to replace a cvt $4000 nope I'm good.

Would definitely have a lot more buyers if they had an actual transmission instead of a nasty unreliable CVT. At least offer a manual transmission in the Maxima and Altima, Nissan... I miss the old Nissan back in the 90s when they made great cars with good transmissions.

2013’s are prolly the most seen year Nissan you see on the road today & guess what….. C V T ENGINES & 300’000 mile run……… guaranteed you just do general maintenance you know take care of the car

We had one of these back when they first came out it was not a good car even compared to the Altima we had, definitely wasn't worth the premium over it. My biggest complaint was the seats were very hard and still are in the newer ones that makes for painful road trips, the next was atrocious road noise for a flagship car mixed with the sunroof sounded like it open after 75 mph, and final it looks good but its cheap once you start poking around like the econo grade carpet good luck getting dirt out. I soon found out that's how all panoramic sunroofs were from Nissan, save your money on this thing it's not worth the price or the depreciation. Too bad they let Infiniti die those were real cars with amazing quality back then.

As a Nissan/Infiniti enthusiasts I understand your statement even tho the maxima is the top tier sedan for Nissan it almost feels as if the Altima is equally built to same standards to the maxima minus having the panoramic sunroof the fully loaded Altima can feel just as smooth as the maxima

Nissan went out with a 50/50 bang. Yes the final year Maxima is stylish and has the incredible VQ V6 but $45,000 with a CVT? Yuck! Had the car been cheaper and came with a traditional automatic or dare I say, even a manual transmission, it would have been a proper send off.
