Almost bought this car (or a 308/DS4 with this engine and automatic) but settled for a Mazda 3 with 2.0 e-Skyactiv X and automatic. So much smoother engine and automatic, very pleasant to drive and nice to compare my own and your fuel efficiency at every speed. The Mazda 3 is more efficient until about 120 km/h, there I'm using about 6.0 L/100km. Not sure about higher speeds. Mainly needed a good car for towing about 850-1000kg, it's nice to have an engine that doesn't complain.

Thank God you picked Mazda.. I'm not 100% sure but I think that the Astra engine is the Puretech one which has a belt mixed with oil and all it's problems
@declde
@declde 10 ай бұрын
@@pawballer1964 it's a belt in oil as well but different from the ones that had problems. Those have to change the belt every 60.000km I think, they made the mistake of using bad oil. The new engines have different oil for the bekt if I'm not mistaken

@@declde l wouldn't believe that much in the improvements of these belts, it was a design problem with materials and calculation. Only if they change it for a chain. Can't imagine buying a new car and breaking engine with 40-50k kms

You are a lucky guy ! The Skyactive engines from Mazda are considered as "reliable" , because N/A engines and solid Japanese gasoline engine technology. Heard nothing bad about this engine. Just take care of it and drive it warm and the Nippon car will be your friend for a long time. Enjoy it.

Very nice car with many good things like real buttons for climate control but man oh man too much piano black, too much! Other than that it's a good daily car.

It's amazing how these small engines behave economically at low speeds, but turn out to be very thirsty as you exceed 120-130 kph. I mean 12.5L/100km at 180 kph is terrible for such a low powered engine and a quite compact car. And it seems to be the general rule, not just for Opel/Peugeot but everywhere

The durability of that engine is really pitiful. Engine belt broken in 3, 2, 1...
@cadenrausch741
@cadenrausch741 10 ай бұрын
If you change the oil regularly and fill in the right oil, the belt will not break. In the new 1.2 48V mildhybrid Engine, the belt is replaced with a timing chain.

there are millions of cars with these engines out there and they work fine. just use the right oil and check the belt with every oil change. isnt that hard.
@carlosMTB1416
@carlosMTB1416 2 ай бұрын
@@sNajlicious Maintaining the oil and periodically checking the belt does not ensure that it will not break. Here in Spain, you have several thousand people affected who have strictly complied with their checks and still have had their engines break down. Meanwhile, the Stellantis group looks in the other way and is not responsible for ANYTHING... Stellantis group is a great rubbish!

The standard models are boring, the electric version doesn't have enough range, there is no hot version in sight and the hybrid versions are too expensive. This has got to be one of the most disappointing Astra generation ever, because it's boring and expensive.

@@diesottodrives but sadly he' kinda got a Point. i wanted to get a new Astra 1.5L Diesel back then but comparing it to a 2.0L Golf 8 Diesel with 150hp it was just sad to see. In my Opinion the Astra looks more sportier and the physical button are nice but thats all it has. you get way more stuff in the Golf 8 with the same Price. back then Astra we're a really good and cheap car but now it became so expensive compared to other cars

@@SnxckyXF fair point. the Golf here in UA was always more expensive than any C-hatch. so most of them beat Golf if it doesn't come to most powerful and/or well packed versions
