This is the start of our 2023 summer cruise. First things first - we have to go 355 nautical miles to get to a crane large enough to lift us out for some much needed maintenance. We have chosen Swanwick Marina to do this and this involves cruising to the south coast of the UK and going around Land's End again.
This voyage is with friends whilst the puppy stays at home. More videos to come as we head to Guernsey and along the south coast of the UK back to our home port of Portishead.

Excellent video. Spent 3years living in Hamble village whilst studying boat design at Southamton in the late 1970's so brings back good memories.

Great videos, would be interesting to learn more about how you got into boating and to such a wonderful boat. I’m sure others like me aspiring to boat ownership and working hard for it would be inspired

Great video. We have just returned to Portishead after our 800nm summer cruise to the south coast and noticed you were still away. Have a great trip back. Btw our 35' boat used 3x the fuel you do although we do go a bit quicker!

Hi, thanks for watching my channel. Today we are heading East from Portland to Lymington. Yes - that’s the wrong way… spoiler alert- we’re not due back to Portishead until next season.

Ha, learned something new - the (very obvious fact) that stabilizers hurt fuel economy ;)

Just came across your video and very nice boat and nice trip. Very lucky to have such an incredibly experienced captain onboard as well. He must have some stories to tell. Any chance on you interviewing him about his career ?

He is full of great stories but unfortunately we don’t get to meet up very regularly

I would have thought that the most Southern Point oof the British Isles would have been that of the Scilly Isles
@Bloater
@Bloater 16 күн бұрын
You are quite right. The Scilly Islands are in fact part of the county of Cornwall. I was thinking only of the mainland. Please forgive my error.

What version of TimeZero do you use and do you have any other software (MFD) on board ? What is on the flybridge?
@Bloater
@Bloater 11 ай бұрын
Hi, I am currently using TZ Pro v3. It is driving 2 screens at the helm with a third screen being run by a second PC running OpenCPN. There is also a Raymarine E120 at the helm. On the flybridge I have 2 screens that are mirroring the two TZ screens at the helm (mirrored using hardware splitters). I can therefore operate the TZ system equally from either helm.

Why so far around. Surely they can lift you on the Dart, for example? Or Falmouth?
@Bloater
@Bloater Жыл бұрын
I have combined the lift out with a holiday. I’m sure there are suitable places to be lifted out on the south coast of Cornwall. Maybe even the other direction might be nearer - Liverpool.

All very good , but did you beat the yacht?
@Bloater
@Bloater Жыл бұрын
Yes, sorry I forgot about that. We were 7 hours ahead by the time they stopped off at Portland to refuel. Winds were too light for them to keep up and they ended up using their engine - hence needing a fuel stop.

1 ltr extra per hour for stabilizers seems like a bargain for what they do...

Yes, I did film the whole summer cruise and it will eventually be uploaded into KZbin. There is so much happening elsewhere that means there hasn’t been the time to do so yet.
