Yea, the best powertrain for old people would be Paccar's powertrain. Without a doubt. Because it'll be getting towed into a dealer lot for a week at a time, every month or two. It'll afford you plenty of downtime to rest up. Ask me how I know

It’s called a headache rack. Air lines on a “pogo stick”. Automatic is a shame. You are more engaged with driving when you have manual tranny. Mountain snow and ice, getting stuck, good luck with your automatic. Leaving out details that o/o would want to know. No offense, but ask a o/o how to point out the things that are important to us. Seat controls, suspension gauge, and how many gauges overall. Seats heated? That’s nice when you get stiff or after tarping and chaining and you need to run 300 miles.

Just found this video. When did Pete start manufacturing the 389 with an 18-speed automatic… what year? Also, when did they start manufacturing them with the control on the column… what year? This would be a dream to drive. Volvo and Freightliner have had automatics for decades but they’re 12-speeds. A 12-speed automatic is a joke! Again, this would be a dream to drive. Are the new 589s available with this 18-speed on the column?
