Extremely beautiful truck. Peterbilt is by far my favorite truck on the road. As a OTR truck this model is one of the nicest in my opinion but the 379 and 389 are in a class by themselves with kenworth right behind them. I like a kw900 but I think the cab narrows to much and makes it where you don't have much room on the sides at doors. Just my opinion to all the kenworth fans. Those 2 brands are like Ford and Chevy both Extremely great

You are 100% correct I drive a 2000 Kenworth W 900L with an 86 inch bunk truckers truly one of a kind you’ll know it when you see it old school black and 10” stacks the only Kenworth in the country that way because you have to suicide doors. Anyways back to the narrow cab you’re correct I can’t even swing my foot from the driver side past the shifter to get back in the sleeper there is only about a foot between both seats not 2 1/2 feet like a Cascadia or the new Peterbilt and Kenworths And honestly the lack of storage in the older trucks is sad.

i have a 2015 579. Ive been hoping that Peterbilt was going to refine this a bit more for future years but not really. I love the consistency though. Might go with a new 389 this time if they start increasing production.

It's ok, reminds me of a cascadia 120 really. Looks like it has the horsepower of one too. Dash and steering wheel are OK, but for the first time in history I'd rather buy a new cascadia or kenworth over a perterbiult. And these new truck inflation prices are ridiculous. Given the market, I think I'll wait a year until the prices come down. $220k -$265k are ridiculous. The rates of 2022 do not justify buying a new truck.

You find out the true value of a Freightliner when you break down and they have parts readily available. With a Pete or KW you be in a motel for 3 or four days while they're waiting on parts.

@@TheTallMan50 That's funny because someone I know was laid up for 3 days waiting for a simple part for her 2020 Cascadia. The dealership didn't even provider her a ride to her hotel and back and it cost her $50 each way. There was no Uber or Lyft. This was somewhere in PA. Her bill before the hotel, transportation and meals was $2300. Just today I saw a video of a Freightliner dump truck getting towed to a FL dealership and without kidding there must have been no less than 50 to over 100 Freightliner trucks and tractors sitting there. So tell me about "True Value".

You can wait a year and pay more. The insider says you’re looking at the new norm. Pricing is only going to go up as the W9 and 389 disappear. Pete’s new staple is the ultra loft 579 and now will be as cheap as you’re going to get one. Just turned in my specs and got my build spot. To each their own. Curious where you run? My rates have still been good even with the spot market in decline 💁🏼♂️

One thing I'm surprised they don't have a small cooler in the center of the dash where the drinks would go something like that would go a long way for the truck drivers like maybe a four bottled cooler, then there is the bathroom issues maybe have a portable in the back that you can take the dirty container from one of sides of the outside of the truck and depose of it. Yep small little sink, fridge/ice chest, and burner, Really like the ones with the all in one shower/toilet combo just pull over to the side handle your business then get going again.

Wasn’t the ultralofts 85-86in? So they downgraded the size? Beautiful truck nonetheless. Was thinking of getting an ultraloft 579 soon but a few years older. No way I’m affording this one not right now at least haha 😅

Just need the top of the cabinets facing in words instead of back towards the bed. Also, does the bottom bed lift up and how much storage is under there refrigerator is way too small. Also above the driver in the passenger and the front door should be big compartments with the doors like they used to be. I love the styling and the front end. Hopefully you can get fairings right to the back front axle.

The only changes made inside are the instrument cluster and finally good cup holders. The rest of the interior is the same boring cheap outdated look and feel they have had for over a decade. The outside of the truck is ok at best. I love Peterbilt back when they made great trucks. The 579 is more of a let down than anything. I went with the Mack Anthem and haven't looked back since.

Our Australian built kenworths are all over $450k at the moment... and wait times up to 18 months... but well worth the wait if you have spec'ed up to X15 at 650hp with an 18sp roady...

Like it more if it had exhaust stacks. I hate the exhaust being on the bottom like cars. TMC is the only outfit left that insist on exhaust stacks, even one is a dummy, exhaust stacks look cool and keep that hot exhaust smell behind t h e cab.

better looking than a cascadia. which are the ugliest trucks on the road imo. also the best use of the sleeper space is to have a dinette/Murphy bed on the bottom and the bunk above. that should be standard, not an option

Beautiful rig, just in time when drivers owner operators are quitting by large numbers fuel going up to $10.00 a gallon of diesel and the electric man-less semis are just around the corner ready to begin service to all...the writings on the wall, driving truck by man/woman is coming to its conclusion, think not then go to videos showing how the ports in China operate, there are "zero humans" on large container ports driving ANYTHING and there is a lot of container movement (includes stacking) all done remotely by women up stairs in the control room, very eye opening video made. Technology does it again leaving man with nothing to do.

Not bad, but still far behind the interior space and functionality of even the smaller cabin 2023 freightliner cascadia... I'd take that any time over this. Cheaper, unsurpassed fuel economy, dealerships everywhere, 13L engine with 1750 torque and 505hp.... owner op package inside gives you leather with heat, cooling and massage. Looots of storage space, huge bed, wood trim.

The 450hp class of motors for OTR is absolute trash, I know because I drive one. They toss 293 rears in and figure its gonna get good mileage. However when loaded it's a fat pig getting no better than 7mpg on its best day, if it's meets a decent uphill grade might as well call it 5mpg.

@@wizard_of_poz4413 for OTR pulling truck load it's absolute trash. I drive one. Mine has a Cummins but still 450hp and carriers spec it with 293 rears. Abysmal getting up to speed and climbing hills/mountains.
