This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2023 Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0 sports car. The Porsche Cayman GTS is just stunning in Python Green!
Well, this is an absolute pleasure to review this week, with its incredible performance and handling, what’s not to love. Porsche says the 718 models were made for the sport of it with one goal in mind…to take the everyday out of every day. The Cayman GTS has a 4L naturally aspirated flat 6 with a standard 6-speed manual transmission or an available 7-speed PDK which we have in our test model, 394 horsepower and up to 317 lb-ft of torque, standard RWD. It goes 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 293 km/h. The Porsche Cayman GTS comes standard with the Sport chrono package, Porsche torque vectoring with mechanically locking differential and Porsche active suspension management with sport chassis.The Porsche Cayman GTS has a low, wide stance with a sleek and sporty exterior design, a satin black rear fascia, Porsche logo on the rear fascia in high gloss silver, storage in the front and rear, sport exhaust system with two tailpipes in high gloss black, an auto deploying rear wing and 20” sport wheels in satin black. The Porsche Cayman has a simplistic interior design and comes standard with sport seats, available full bucket seats, Race-Tex upholstery, available leather, a GT sport steering wheel, sport style pedals, a 10.9” touchscreen with wired Apple Carplay, no Android Auto unfortunately. You can also get an available heated steering wheel, driver seat memory, ventilated front seats, 14 and 18-way power seats, different interior colours and stitching, brushed aluminum trim, black brushed aluminum and Bose or Burmester sound systems.
The GTS starts at $98,800 CAD/$90,300 USD.
Fuel economy is not a priority when driving a Porsche but if you would like to know, it gets 12.3L/100 km, 17 MPG city and 9.8L/100 km, 24 MPG highway.

I bought one last year and it's an amazing little sports car for the price. You guys hit all the points about the size being like the older generation 911's and is a true two seat sports car with that 4.0 motor. I do think it will be a future classic nice video guys!

Life is better with a Porsche! Truer words never were spoken. I have had my 2006 Porsche 911 Cabriolet (manual) for eight years now. I totally love it and if I ever think of getting rid of it--one trip around the block ends that thought. The only way I would get rid of it would be for another Porsche. I do agree that the Cayman is virtually what the 911 used to be. It is the right size and looks and sounds amazing. If I could afford a new one I would jump on it. Great review as always!

great show as usual. Awesome car. I'm driving a 2003 Boxster S and every time I take it out of hibernation at the beginning of May (PEI) it always feels like I just got into a new Porsche. Put the battery back in, starts with one turn of the key.......and off I go. Besides having fun driving with the roof down it also holds two full sets of golf clubs including the bags. Unfortunately it is not possible in newer Boxsters.

Great video, guys. I just started binging your videos. You two are a breathe of fresh air because you actually point out drawbacks to the cars you're reviewing. Please keep being brutally honest because every other KZbinr only talks about the positives, which I think is extremely dishonest/useless for someone looking to keep a car long term. Would be great to specifically mention reliability and ownership costs as well. Love the Canadian focus.

Great video. I love it. Especially in that colour. Interestingly enough… I bought my Carrera when 911s were cheap (an ‘87 for under $20), but mostly because it was a coolest, best driving and solidly built sports cars on the road… that I could afford. Especially for that price (2nd and mostly fun car). But honestly, the real reason why I ended up going with a Porsche was because my wife (with my two ‘little’ boys) couldn’t fit into the Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG that I was quite keen on (and driving quite a lot). She was 100% absolutely RIGHT! The Porsche proved to provide a better value, far better reliability and driving experience that matched no other. The Downside? … (or maybe upside?) … was now I had to bring the kids. Thanks for the video.

I picked up a used Python green manual 4.0 two weeks ago. My thoughts so far. Amazing! For a start. The engine is fantastic, sounds glorious. Gearbox is lovely to use and I don’t agree with several others that the high gearing is any issue. Quality interior so well built. One thing, it’s done 8k miles now with Pirelli P zeros on but they take some warming up to start working well. Incredible car though I love it! Nice video :)

Your BRZ will also do 0-60 in under 6 seconds. Going back to when I was (much) younger, VERY few cars could do this. I just took delivery of a GTS a few days ago but can honestly admit, every time I see a BRZ (or GR86) I wonder how much fun it would be to drive that car.

Agree totally about radio. It's fine, but not great! but seldom used. Top up or down, engine is all the sound one needs in my '09 Boxster 6Spd manual. It's my keeper

Love the color too!!! The interior however.... For 2023, is a little outdated. By that I don't mean, I'm looking forward to the EV version(If there's one coming). I know u ended up changing for the GT4, but this is almost my spec on my 2.5L, although I’ve got agate grey, folding mirrors and dual climate control. Would love to know how u managed to get a GT4 , given how notoriously they are to get.

Beautiful car. We have a deposit on a new Boxster 2.0, with PDK and almost 1yr but no allocation yet. Compared to the previous gen with the 6 Cyl other than the sound, the current 4 Cyl has more HP, more and a better torque band, plus better mileage, its really quite an amazing little engine…

I just got my allocation for the GTS about a month ago and I've been on the waiting list for about 2 years. I'm being told Porsche are less likely to grant allocations for lower specced Caymans as the profit margins are less compared to the 911s.

Have had an allocation request in for about 9 months now for a CGTS, hoping to get one before they go electric. With regards to cross shopping for me it's the Lotus Emira, maybe the Supra or an M2 Competition but some of those other vehicles would definitely not be a consideration.

Andrea, talking about the stuff in YOUR SHOPPING CART not being large enough to fit into the "frunk" of this Porsche Cayman... Is that the one from Costco? German drivers never drink beverages while they are driving. They stop and refresh themselves while on a trip. They laugh at cup holders! They hate distractions while they are driving. The Cayman and Boxter are my favorite Porsche's. They are just plain fun to drive like a Mazda MX5 is just plain fun. As Senior Citizen I prefer the PDK Dual Clutch transmission. I find operating a conventional clutch difficult due to my worn hips, back and left knee.

Thank you for mentioning Android! It is ridiculous that Porsche still manufactures the Cayman/Boxster and Macan without Android Auto compatibility. I have a 2017 718 Cayman S that is an incredible car, as you well know (obtained prior to Porsche coming out with the NA 4.0 GTS/GT4). Honestly the flat 4 sounds still sounds great while revving and is quieter when wanted. I just sold a Cayenne and was thinking about getting a Macan, which I did not do as I would be travelling more in the SUV and was not happy about the lack of Android compatibility. I purchased an X3 M40i, which has been incredible, and I can properly connect my phone.

Hi Zack, I’m considering getting a GTS 4.0 and the heart says boxster but mind says Cayman. I’m in the GTA so would the Cayman make more sense given the extreme cold and hot temperatures we see here? I plan to hang on to the car for as long as I can and while resale value isn’t going to be the most imp factor, i’d still want a decent resale value. Is the Cayman going to be significantly better resale value than the Boxster? Also, would you consider “chalk” as one of the wild colours? I do like the orange colour but it might be too loud for a 40 year old..lol.

@Hugh The Zenon lights that swivel (I believe they are referred to as Dynamic Cornering were great & were on my previous '07 Boxster as an option. My current '09 Boxster has Bixenons (low beams & high beams) with Dynamic cornering, are excellent BTW, so I think you're incorrect saying that they were introduced in 2017. The '09 Boxster introduced standard LED front Daylight Driving Lights, as well as rear LED Daylight Driving Lights surrounding the LED rear brake lights in the light assembly

I own a 718, good bloody luck to Porsche finding any buyers for the electric 718. Who on earth will buy it? I don't know a single current Porsche owner that would touch one with a 40 ft pole! I don't think Porsche has done the market research on this.

When Porsche arrogantly changed its Boxster/Cayman from flat 6 to flat 4 turbo, those earlier models with former already raised in used value. The "final editions" of GTS, especially GT4, will definitely raised in used value when they abandoned their traditional customers, to those heavy and ungainly, so-called electric "sports" car,
