Excellent Vid. For someone that prefers cloth interior this is a great trim that allows for some really nice options.

Very true! In general Subaru seems to do quite well making comfortable cloth seats which hold up well to wear/tear and aren’t to thick resulting in not much lost passenger room (compared to some other brands). 🙂

Thanks for posting a detailed review of a premium! No one has really done a solid review of a premium yet. Ordered my ‘23 OB premium with package 13 in mid-October. Hopefully I will have it around Christmas. Reviews like this get me excited. Looking forward to having more space coming from a CX-5.

It's funny that you mentioned about the front grill change.... because when I first saw the picture of the new outback, I really didn't think much of it and was saying that I wanted to get a 2022 if I could.... but then for the first time I saw a dealership that had the new 2023 outbacks in stock.... and seeing it in person, I actually really liked it.... it's funny because it's the same exact one as the picture but the picture just doesn't do it justice if that makes any sense

Up until this point I haven't gotten anything yet.... but I am going to be trading in my 2010 ram 1500 and getting the new outback.... I also like that they finally added Bluetooth to the mix

These really need the 2.4 turbo as standard equipment. Had a 2.5 Outback as a rental in Denver last week and I had to keep the accelerator floored to stay up with traffic on I-70 going up steep grades. Saw tons of Subaru’s and cannot understand the popularity of them in Colorado. The majority of them were naturally aspirated models that all struggled to maintain momentum.
@AutomotiveAnonymous208
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, they should be turbo’d, it makes such a difference. I’ve done plenty of 0-60 with gps tests with turbo vs. NA Subaru’s at about 4,000 elevation and it’s a 2.5-4.5 difference depending on density altitude (DA) that day of the year. Very good point about the Colorado popularity. They’re fantastic in the snow but not speed lol.😜

@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I feel that if I live at a higher altitude (Denver), or do a lot of driving in the mountains then the Turbo is the best way to go. If you are at sea level, I think that the 2.5 engine is better economically without sacrificing to much power.

You really don't need more power. Outback 2.5 drives just fine with enough grunt.

@@CRVgarage when I have the accelerator floored to keep momentum with the traffic around me, I strongly disagree that it has enough power. I vividly remember all of the Subaru’s struggling to make it up mountain passes while all of the other vehicles passed us like we were standing still.

I plan on upgrading my 14 Outback to a 23 Outback sometime late spring/early Summer 23. I live on the Virginia, so I will probably stick with the 2.5 Engine. Just not sure if I should go with the Onyx or Premium. I typically road trip to Illinois during the summer and go to Maine for Thanksgiving.
@AutomotiveAnonymous208
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 Жыл бұрын
How does your 14 2.5 do on your road trips? The more modern version is expected to only be more efficient as a whole vehicle system. I think you’ll be well off with either an Onyx or Premium 🙂. I’ve reviewed a 2023 Onyx if you’re interested for comparison to this Premium walk around. Can’t go wrong either way!

@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 Gas milage is decent (29 to 32 on the highway). The 14 Outback (just like the 2010 through 2014) has a stiffer ride quality. Great for fire road driving (less bouncing around). The seats are great.

I traded in my 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Premium on a 2023 Outback Premium. Although the Sonata was nicely equipped,, had low miles there is no comparing it to the safety features on the Outback Premium with Option pkg. 15. I took delivery in late October 2022 and I am a low milage drive so I am still under 1000 miles and still breaking the engine in. The ride and comfort is great but it's smaller than my 2017 Santa Fe Sport we have. When it comes down to it both vehicles drive great and handle well. I don't regret getting the Outback Premium for my daily driver after me wife started driving my Santa Fe full time. I got a fantastic trade in price on my Sonata that greatly reduced the price on the Outback Premium.

@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I can't take long road trips because I am disabled with a neurologic condition and have 4 dogs. Where would I put the dogs on a long trip? Because I am disabled I cannot and will not put them in a private kennel.

Just purchased a crystal white ‘23 Premium and are generally impressed. Moved “down” from a 2016 Forester Limited, honestly could care less about leather seating surfaces (Java brown on top of range very, very nice, however). Would never consider anything w the Star-tech (?) material - drove one and wasn’t impressed. Wireless charger on backorder, no ETA available. No heated seats??? Ours does, assumed they all did. Don’t miss navigation app - with Apple Car Play figured no point in paying for it. To mess with the Subaru snobs out there, ordered the front and rear lower bumper moldings for $200. Dealer offered $1500 off without haggling, we added a thousand dollars in accessories and ended up getting it for $2000 off. Also tossed in free wheel and tire accident coverage, which we plan to not take advantage of. New Outback has reinforced the stereotype that American Subarus don’t compare favorably with their Japanese cousins. Found some assembly debris in the engine compartment, and when we got home noticed a slight dent on the top of the rear fender. Dealer prep also a gripe - not that most dealers do a great job in the first place, but dirty windows, and handprints on the interior are easy things to address before delivery. One of the rear view mirrors also had slight scratches, and will be replaced in future visit.
