2023 Quilts - Broad Strokes Quilt Top

2023 is officially the year of the 3-Yard Quilt!
Each week, a new video will be posted for a quilt made from the 3-Yard book series by Fabric Cafe. Three one yard cuts turn in to one lap sized quilt top. Easy enough, right?
The goal for these quilts is to use as much of my stash as possible in order to clear space for new fabrics, notions and more! In the end, the quilts will be donated to local charities and individuals in need of a new quilt to call their own.

Been there-done that! Just sewed an Advert Calendar for a granddaughter thought I’d just sew the sides of the pockets quick before I went to bed. Next morning I realized I had sewen on the wrong line! So instead of saving me time I had to unsew the 24 pockets and start over😮❤

Your fabrics are beautiful, so cheerful! Good fix. Just a FYI on a 3 yard quilt that I just now figured out. They all take no more than a yard of 108 pieced horizontally with one seam for a backing. Much easier to piece than with 44” yardage and less expensive too.

Oh, but the flip method of the squares really does work well to not have a right side up. It saves wear and tear on the ends of the quilt.

Don’t you just hate making mistakes. Once I had finished a batik half square triangle quilt and noticed that I had reversed the fabric colors on two of the four patch blocks. Fortunately they were in the very center of the quilt and they just became a design element! Lol

I have a question... what is the dimensions of your your cutting table? And what size is your cutting mat?

My mat is 24x36, and I think I have the 42" wide adjustable husky table/workbench (it's from home depot and the smallest of the three sizes 🙂)
