Jerry you’re my kind of man and we share many of the same likes plus thoughts. We all know motorcycles are over priced no matter what brand. So you just bite the bullet anti up for the brand that blows your skirt up. I have owned at least one of every brand I know of plus a few brands no longer around. Have road a bike in about 80 percent of the world since 1956 to date. I guess I must be old school because Harley-Davidson is my favorite brand for street use. The power and torque delivery are perfect for fitting in with traffic. The sound, low vibs and personality comfort me like my mother. The best way to put Harley Prices in perspective, is do you look for a cheap doctor.

The noticeable difference in wind deflection between the batwing and shark nose is on the interstate. The Road Glide rider area experiences much less turbulence at freeway speeds ESPECIALLY when passing a big rig. Great video as always!!! Tip of the hat from a retired left coast motorman.
@donpet8258 Жыл бұрын
I agree. Iv owned batwing and sharknose. Freeway speed and cross winds trucks etc. Theres no comparison in Roadglide superiority Plus the moveable batwing cant mate up with lowers well so air flys up thru there. Just be observant and one can tell the obvious difference, but batwings have a bit closer and smaller feel, even tho weights on forks. Thus many batwing fans. Both are good

Glad you tested this bike. I own a 21 road glide limited. I have really enjoyed it. Came off a 17 ultra limited. I was concerned with the bigger 18 inch wheels on the 21. But it really seems to handle and ride better. Don't know how they did it. We took a 7 day 2500 miles trip and it was great . Freeway speeds, mountain roads, you name it. Don't like that gray and blue but that's just me

I like it. It just makes me wonder when they are going to price themselves so high that they won’t be able to sell many. I bought a Road Glide (standard) and rode it for a few months, but wound up going back to the Ultra Limited. I like that batwing fairing better. I know there are LOTS of people who prefer the shark nose. I personally believe the RG is better for people 6’2” or over, but the batwing is better for people who are shorter in stature, like myself.

It's as least as much weight onto the front tire as the batwing, but the inertia and weight of the fairing does not resist turning the forks, especially when leaning.

Nice review, but you should point out that there is no need to touch the windscreen to select the radio, GPS, or telephone options; something many Batwing riders criticize. All the Road Glide rider needs to do is reverse press the right-hand blinker control and then toggle the thumb control to select any option desired.

i saw one of those the other day at my local dealer, All American Harley Davidson, it was listed at 31 grand, i think. i know it was over 30 thousand. same color. beautiful bike but certainly out of my price range, especially at 70 years of age. of those i have talked to that ride a Road Glide, switching from a bat wing, they say they'll never go back. they say the stability is better due to the chassis mounted fairing. maybe its like you mentioned, just lighter steering due to no weight on the forks. thanks for the Review.

Jerry... let me start off by thanking you for your many contributions to the public to learn about motorcycle riding and how to do it safely. I can't tell you how valuable your work has been to me beginning my street riding at age 58 last summer. I did have a lot of dirt bike riding experience as a teenager, but that is different from heavy motorcycle street bike riding skills. Back to the subject post. To me, this is nothing more than a 2 wheel car. I prefer to ride a motorcycle not a two wheel car. Just enjoyed a 110 mile ride yesterday up here in beautiful eastern NC on my Triumph T120 Bonneville. Now that's a motorcycle ride! Ha! That said...I wish not to offend. To me, all motorcycles are special in the eye of the beholder and rider. If you want to ride a car on two wheels go for it!!! You're paying the same price tag. Ha!

I do get blown around a little on the T120 above 70 mph. I would not want to do 300 mile days on my bike at 58 years old. Almost all of my riding is 100 miles or less in a day. A nice relaxed workout for an old man. Ha.

Your thoughts on Harley Davidson turn-around time on parts & repairs? I drive a Honda and looking to grab Kawasaki Vaquero/Voyager. Too many war stories about 6 months to over a year on parts & repairs. For the price you pay on Harleyss, reliability should not be
@motorman857 Жыл бұрын
All parts for everything are hard to get. Whether it's a motorcycle, a car, or a washing machine. The good news is that the after market makes everything you can think of for H.D.'s. The exact opposite is true for Japanese, of European motorcycles.

Money be damned, I WANT ONE ! 🤩😍 I rode new units (M8 powered units) as part of my job years ago and the RG was always my favorite big tourer. Only the 2018 and up Heritage Softail made me feel more at home but that's a different class of bike. As a S.Floridian I can confirm, the farther South you go the WORSE it gets at EVERYTHING. Too many aholes driving and living in the same places.

You're looking at $34,000, before you even get to the Harley Davidson tax, freight, inspection, and another $5000 to 7000 dealership mark on. Then, that's before sales tax and registration. Probably very close to $43000 to 45000 out the door in California. No way I'm spending that kind of money on something mostly made in Thailand and other countries, with just a frame made in the USA. You can bolt all the parts together anywhere. You'd think for that kind of money, it would have a reverse gear too, so you don't have to push it.
@motorman857 Жыл бұрын
Wait, your in California paying 7 dollars a gallon for gas and your complaining about Harley prices? PS Laidlaw's Harley doesn't add anything to the MSRP except tax, tag and title. Those outrageous fees come from the same politicians who makes your gas 7 bucks a gallon.

It's nice to see that HD is finally catching up to the Valkyrie and Goldwing, and losing the outdated, loud, air cooled design. I think we'll all know that they have finally almost caught up to Goldwing tourers when you stop seeing so many barely used HD's with only a few thousand miles being put up for sale everywhere online. Unfortunately, that price is absurd though.
