I love Ally's "Round Ups" feature. So far this year I saved $185 more into my emergency fund. They also have a "Surprise Savings" but since we do a zero based budget, it ends up usually messing us up so I turned it off. I might have to try the 52 week challenge, sounds doable.

That’s amazing!! I just learned with making this video that you can connect credit cards for the round up feature with Ally, so I’m going to do that!

Any time I get a raise I up my continuation to my 401K. So when I get my first raise check I don't miss what I don't see. Plus I will appreciate it when I go to retire.

I love the concept of randomizing the 52 weeks - I also saw someone (don't know where) say they do it in reverse since December is such a spendy month with the holidays and everything, which I think is really good thinking as well. Also, I would love to see you talk about budgeting for giving/donating! I feel like I only really see stuff that says you should tithe (I am not religious) and nothing else.

I did the 52 week challenge this year but I modified it to save $53 every paycheck (bi-weekly pay). Basically it was saving the first week and the last week of the year and working in from there. Week 1 and week 52 then week 2 and week 51 etc. It worked really well and I was able to pay for a couple of trips for my mom and I to take together ❤ 🐷

Qapital also does the round up option and the 52 week challenge. You can also set rules for it to save a certain amount when you spend at certain places, so for example setting it to safe $5 every time you spend at Starbucks. There are a few other savings rules you can set as well (like every time you post to instagram etc) 🐖💰

Varo Bank lets you round up your purchases too. You can also set rules like saving percentages or flat amounts.

I have tried to do the weekly savings challenge but I did it backwards, started with 52. I stopped in like May or something so I didn't complete it. But it is a good challenge. Right now I am doing the side hustle challenge BUT I am just using whatever i make at that for groceries so it doesn't come out of my 9-5 money which is really just covering bills right no since I recently took a pay cut (for a year).

Hi! Curious, if you still use YNAB, how would you recommend setting up the targets to do one of these challenges?
@TheAvocadoToastBudget2 жыл бұрын
I do! I just re-did my budget and have a video planned super soon! I usually have a separate category for savings challenges and depending on the challenge I’ll transfer money from my variable spending categories into those categories as “savings”!

I save my coins, $1's and $5's and I do the round up and penny challenges. I will do those again next year and will add monthly challenges to go towards my sinking funds. I plan on setting up an auto transfer to my emergency fund for my raise that I will be getting next year. 🐷
