Definitely looking forward to hearing more about Star Drifter in the long term and seeing the Glide expansions medium-term, but since you report that you haven't done a lot of "true" solo RPGing, I'd vote for you to start small-ish with _Harper's Quest_ so that you don't bounce off the whole pile (like I would). HQ feels like it's closer in theme/world to some of the adventure books you've covered, you'll get a chance to draw some dope dungeons, and the "starter" quest seems manageable.

I think you're right on all counts there - may grab the bull by the horns and get some Harper's Quest under my belt before too long!

In a PnP PDF, it is common practice to only provide a single sheet of card backs. I don't do it in PDFs that I prepare but I see it often. However, you do not need to dissasemble and reassemble. In the print dialouge, you can simply specify page numbers. Lets say for instance it's a PDF with 7 pages of card fronts and the 8th page is card backs. In the field for page numbers to be printed you can input: 1,8,2,8,3,8,4,8,5,8,6,8,7,8. Easy peasy :) I hope you enjoy Star Drifter. I loved it! Although I would most definitely reprint that on A4. It will be much easier to read. I also got some Poly Tab dividers to help me get to sections of the book easier. And very cool on the expansions for Glide. It is on my "To Buy" list and now that I see it has expansions as well it's likely to get picked up next month :)

Indeed when I print at home it isn't a problem. Just this printer doesn't offer that degree of granularity in terms of doing multiple copies of some pages but not others. Yeah - we'll see how much I enjoy it, but I may get it reprinted in the future 🙂 sounds like your copy is much more playable than mine!

Thanks Lone one! I think it's Litch the 't' is invisible lol. Thanks for the video uploads I do enjoy them and appreciate your pace and cander with these. Seen some of the these or similar played by Madlad designs on KZbin too, great to see these printed out, worts n all. I hope the video covers the print error cost as you've probably save others that cost out there. The last one was too small but good travel size -If you narrate I will take your word for it lol. Cheers 🍷

This is some great stuff. Eco Mofos and Harper's Quest 2 are extremely underrated and I can confirm they are quality. I've read We Deal in Lead and it looks fantastic but haven't tried a session yet. I'm so excited to see you dip your toes into more free-form solo RPGing! :D

Harpers Quest 2 sounds fun, may have to pick that up. Shame about the issues you had with Star drifter, but hope to see a playthrough for that in the future :)

When I was a kid playing D&D we always pronounced Lich the same as "like", but then when Warcraft 3 came out it popularized the pronunciation with the "itch" pronunciation.

Wretched Wasteland is a fun experience even without the tower. Played it a few years back when it first released. Very brutal to progress but rewarding when you make it.

We Deal In Lead is a TTRPG heavy, heavy, heavily based on The Dark Tower magnum opus by Stephen King.
@lone_adventurer
@lone_adventurer Жыл бұрын
Ah that kind of makes sense. I tried to get into those books a couple of times and never did get too far. Which is weird because I love Stephen king and any kind of post-apocalyptic fiction!

Eco Mofo looks interesting. So 200 years ago everything went to pot? So it's set in 2216?

Yes that is tempting. I keep thinking about those card backs I double sided...whatever I do, those cards are gonna look different. It will bug me!

@gormenghast8858 Doxzoo has online tools that allow you to see exactly what you're getting. The fault with the couple of errors in this order lay entire with me as I didn't check everything closely enough 🙂

I spent quite a while with Galdor's Grip and found it interesting, but the designer was (very responsibly) still iterating on the design/cards; at a certain point I lost track of which version I would need to re-make to have the "correct" version of the game. Out of curiosity -- is your PNP strategy for cards to just slip them into a sleeve with a generic card to stiffen things up? Or are you sticking the front and backs together somehow?
@lone_adventurer
@lone_adventurer Жыл бұрын
Yeah I was vaguely aware of that - fingers crossed I've got a moderately up-to-date version! I spent a bit of time during the COVID lockdowns getting half-decent at print and play games (card-based games mainly). Check out my Iron Helm playthroughs - they are all cards I made 🙂
@Genghis-Pawn
@Genghis-Pawn Жыл бұрын
@@lone_adventurer I, too, spent some time during lockdowns getting half-decent at PNP -- I use the gutter-fold method with linen paper, and get decent results using my home printer. I was curious to learn more about how you're making your cards. Do these print-ups get used to sandwich a third layer of cardstock?
@lone_adventurer
@lone_adventurer Жыл бұрын
@@Genghis-Pawn Interesting. I haven't done the gutterfold method before, though I may have to try it as it looks like the One Card Dungeon sheets are set up for this method. Up until now, I've just done what you said - sandwiched a piece of card between the sheet with the fronts on and the sheet with the backs on.

Yes I hear mixed opinions, but at least I won't be sinking too much effort into making the game (and I might just make the base game to start with...).

Hey man! Never heard of Doxzoo - I have a lot of books I'd like to print but not sure how much it'd cost. What was the rough cost for those ring bound ones? Im in the UK as well :)

Hi there! Well the total order was about 30 quid. The smaller ringbound books were only a couple of quid each. You can go to the site and add a couple of documents just to see 🙂
