I just got same shock & spring in yesterday for my arrival. Can’t wait to test it out 👍

@@MongoDan have you had much time on it yet?
@MongoDan Жыл бұрын
@@davestadnik8739 no not much yet, but the first ride I did put the shock though it's paces pretty will (no real drops). What I can say for sure is that it is smoother than the air, the lockout is great on smoother climbs as it feels natural and still has some bump sensitivity left. On the downs it definitely keeps the bike more planted. For maneuvers (bunny hops etc) I will have to get used to it as it sucks up those movements a lot more than an air shock does. But I still have a lot of tuning to do so some of that might go away or be less obtrusive.

I'm interested to see how the coil shock on the new Reign i have on order compares to the air shock on my current reign.

Nice! I'm interested in your thoughts once you have time on the shock. I only have one small ride on mine so can't really say much yet.

that HBO is a nice touch, will let ya run a spring with a lot of sag - 30-35% and not bottom out real hard. of course, the HBO is useless if your spring rate is too high.

It really is a nice touch to see in a non-exotic shock. I think it is a more useful adjustment than having separate high and low speed rebound adjustments.

Whats your weight if you dont mind me asking, im looking at a Formula Mod shock for my Spire but unsure on what spring rating I should get, Im around 240lbs kitted out and was thinking around 550 to 600 but wasnt sure with the frames leverage ratio to go bigger or smaller.
@MongoDan Жыл бұрын
I'm about 285lbs right now. Since the video I have moved from the 650 to a 600 lbs spring. I think I am right in between the 600 and 650. At first I was worried that even 650 might have been on the light side but that certainly was not true.

I just blew my X2. I’m looking into getting a coil shock so I never have to deal with that BS again. You can’t blow out a coil right? Srs question.
@MongoDan Жыл бұрын
The X2 is probably the most failure prone shock to ever exist. I can speak from experience anything from Rockshox should prove to be much more reliable and much easier to maintain when needed. But! coil shocks are not immune to failure just because it doesn't have any air spring, though obliviously the air spring part cannot fail. On non-yoke driven bike coil shocks will generally have a longer service interval but anything with seals can fail and will need period service (depends on manufacture and model) That being said, both the Super deluxe air and coil both perform really really well. The air version is a bit more "poppy" with better deep stroke support and the coil have better mid stroke support and is more ground hugging. I will be making a follow up video but that is the 10,000 foot view of what I will say. Subscribe to not miss that video.

What is your height? What is the size of your spire
@MongoDan Жыл бұрын
I am 6'5" (195cm) and I'm on size XXL. I probably could also ride an XL but I like longer reach bikes and the XXL has a taller stack that is important for me. I currently have 35mm rise bars and will probably try something higher in the future.

Where did you get the bushing tool?
@MongoDan Жыл бұрын
www.diymtb.com.au/displayitems.asp?cid=46 That is a link to the company, I really like this version is the tool because it is so compact and works well. There are a lot of versions of the tool now so it might be worth looking at those as well depending on your wants/needs.
