Yep I just finished cancelling a ev6 sale because when we came to sign the deal the Kia dealer added $10000 to the price for a bunch of crap, even if you don’t want it. To add to the insult they sneakily were giving me Zero for my 2022 Tiguan. Plus they “forgot” to take the rebate off the price. If they didn’t scam people the dealers might have a better rep.

Buyer experience on my recent Model Y purchase: ordered online on Sunday, signed a few documents, got financing approved and accepted financing terms, uploaded a few items all using the Tesla app, scheduled a delivery date. Some texting between Tesla and myself over the next couple days. Delivery date scheduled on Wednesday. Got a text saying which parking spot the Tesla was at. Drove up, synched my phone, looked it over, accepted through app. Drove home. The absolute best car buying experience I've ever had. Did not talk to anyone. If I wanted to I could, but since I already have another Tesla I had no questions. The buying experience alone will make me buy only Tesla's going forward. I've been jacked around by dealerships my whole life and have never had a pleasant experience.

If you'd like to test drive a Model Y for a extended period, rent one from Hertz. I rented one a few weeks ago while on a trip to Oregon. Drove 800 miles and it cost only $40 in supercharging fees. Gas in that area is $4.39/gal.

In the US you also have the option for a non-long range Model Y that starts at $47k (after tax credit under $40k). Overall miles is 270. Pretty good deal. I just purchased that one.

I just purchased the Model Y Long Range 2.5 weeks ago and it is great. Fit and finish - perfect. One thing that I didn't like was not having apple car play, but the navigation is great without it. The music streams just fine for me so that isn't an issue. I did evaluate the charging networks and the Tesla charging network is the best. I checked out EVGO, ChargePoint, Electrify America and they all had problems. Didn't care for them so Tesla it is. I charge 99% of the time in my garage so not a big deal. Car drives like a dream, and I am getting used to the plain dash. The computer technology is great and takes time to get used to. We will save lots of money and charging will be very cheap as we have solar on our home. I am thinking that we will save over $3,000 a year by NOT buying gasoline. Sweet.

Time to update your video as the Tesla Model Y now qualifies fully for all Provincial and Federal Canadian EV rebates, I just put my order in for one and will be picking it up on Sunday May 7th in Vancouver! I sold my Ioniq 5 just for the reason we cannot travel the Trans-Canada Highway coast to coast amongst other major routes. Unfortunately The Federal Government has no mandates to insure access to charging, similar to the initial release of the Ford Model T which also suffered this issue in the early years. But unlike the Ford, where Gas stations popped up all over, no one wants to back the EV charging network even the rather recent Petro Canada Canada’s Electric Highway has nothing but major outages that you cannot rely on for long distance travel (they recently admitted this failure and subsequently doubled their charging fees). And the government did not mandate VW (during the diesel gate scandal) to back our only Trans Canada highway with complete and reliable coverage coast to coast. Electric Autonomy requested an interview with federal Minister of Natural Resources Jonathan Wilkinson and he basically stated he is not worried about reliability, accessibility and access to EV charging (their Corporate buds will look after this), very much like the self controlled airlines absolute failure to deliver quality and regulated air travel, the minister leaves it in the hands of the industries Charging providers to self monitor and we know how well that works!!!! Tesla here I come nation wide travel with a 99.95% up-time on their super chargers!

I purchased both a Model 3 and Model Y a year apart and both have a design in the bottom aero panel underneath the cars. In both cases, a screw or bolt came off and allowed for a portion of the front of this panel to flop down, and hence start to hit the road any time you go through a dip in the road. Eventually, this break off while driving. Also, when it rained, the cars would collect water underneath and get into the underside. This caused mildew and I had to replace the cabin filter earlier. Both cars were less than one year old. Getting both aero panels replaced cost me about $400 each from Tesla. They did not consider this to be covered by warranty. This is a design flaw that needs to be fixed by Tesla. If you do a google search on this subject, you’ll find multiple instances of this by other people.

The basic "Auto Pilot" is just Adaptive Cruse Control with lane keeping. I fist drove ACC on a Lincoln MKC (Corsair) over ten years ago. The lane keeping with it is a relative new feature that is not always combined on other cars. I like it, and like you, do see the value of upgrading to the higher price options. It's great that Tesla makes it standard.
@dotsmada2855
@dotsmada2855 Жыл бұрын
That's one of the big things when people start comparing a Tesla to other vehicles that are usually cheaper. Everything on a Tesla is basically standard whereas for most of those other vehicles you have to buy premium trims to get to where the Tesla is at. Fit and finish may be a negative for Tesla but I believe the motors, battery tech, software experience is far and away better than anything on the market. Likely other brands will improve and come to par with Tesla when it comes to these things, but then they also have the issue of actually mass producing them at a profit. Tesla is already there with other manufacturers still years away. By the time legacy auto gets to the point where Tesla is now, likely Tesla will have their other tech ready to go like FSD and once again others will be left behind. Tesla is actually already allowing other EVs to use their chargers so they are basically giving away that advantage. It's possible they allow other cars to license their FSD sometime in the future as well. We shall see. Maybe in 10 years my Tesla will become a robo taxi and make money for me.

On price alone who would buy this over the dirt cheap Corolla or a good full size truck with maybe more features for the same money or a RAV4 which is inbetween the two?
@dotsmada2855
@dotsmada2855 Жыл бұрын
Because they are much better than a Corolla or a RAV4. Add in the tax credits and the savings on gas and the price of a Tesla becomes more comparable to the cars you mention and also it's a much more exciting vehicle. The tech in it is far superior and the driving experience is also much better. If you think a Tesla is the same as a Corolla, only battery powered rather than gas, then you obviously haven't driven one.

In Colorado we can get a Model 3 for less than a Corolla or Rav4. $7500 federal rebate and an additional $5000 Colorado tax credit (regardless of income/tax liability). Thats $12,500 off the price. Seeing inventory base model 3's for 37-38k which means the car is 25-26k after you get tax credit. It's the same price as a mid-spec Corolla and cheaper than the base Rav4 which starts at 28k.

My Aunt and Uncle bought a Tesla a few years ago. The fit and finish is horrible and it’s had countless recalls. Overall they love the car but it’s been in the repair shop more than it’s been out. Because it’s so unreliable, they won’t be buying another one. For us, (if they were cheaper), we’d buy a Subaru Soltera as we get a LOT of snow in our area and need the ground clearance and the AWD system that’s standard on Subie’s. I looked at a new Soltera before buying my Forester Touring last December, but $55K for a new car was just too expensive for us. In the last 2 years we’ve bought a 2 year old Outback with 5,600 miles and a 3 year old Forester with 4,700 miles. Why buy new when you can buy one with less than 6K miles over a new one? Let the original owner take the depreciation hit and save thousands of dollars. Shari, Thanks for the review. I appreciate your videos and all your honest info.

Thing is with everyone pushing the “tax rebate” you aren’t getting it until NEXT YEAR - 12 months+ from now. Secondly, not everyone will qualify. Third, not one person I know has taken the “rebate” and paid down their car loan with it. So to suggest that you can get into a Model y for $47k its inaccurate. You pay $54k+ for the car, that is the sales price. Period. That is what you are paying for the car. If you can’t afford $54k+ for the car now, then you can’t afford it 12+ months from now. And if you are only buying it because you think you can afford it because of the “rebate”, fact is YOU CAN’T AFFORD IT! It’s still a $54k+ vehicle !

Most people don't pay cash on the spot. Clearly when you get the $7,500 tax credit next year you will likely not put it against your loan. You'll use it to pay for other stuff. Starting next year it will be taken directly off the price of the vehicle. If you want I suppose you can calculate the interest on the $7,500 you'll pay in your loan and subtract from the credit. It's still significant for most people. If you and your spouse make more than $300k together then you likely don't need the tax credit anyway and the price a $40k-$50k car isn't an issue.

That's one of the dumbest arguments to not buying a Tesla. They may drop the price in the future! Oh no, now it's not worth as much if I sell it. I guess if you flip your vehicles as often as getting a hair cut then maybe it's an issue otherwise who cares? I have 2 Teslas, no issues with fit/finish and I understand their manufacturing process has improved where this is not as much of an issue anymore. All cars have recalls. Do you know how recalls are handled on my Teslas? Over the air updates, because they can be fixed with software. ICE vehicle recalls always require taking them into shops. It's ok though, you can keep driving your ICE for as long as you like. Nobody is forcing you to get a Tesla.

Ev cars totally not needed. What a bombastic annoying technology to add more aggravation to motorists. Gas & Go is still the way to go. Need gas, easily find one in minutes. Gas up & go in about 8 minutes compared to look for EV charger, if it works, wait 45 minutes to an hour and 15 minutes. We have oil reserves to last 400 years that we know of. It works. Why go backwards? Until they get a full recharge in 5 minutes, plentiful charging stations and lower those stinking high prices, it’s not going to happen. Plus: National Security a nations grid systems sucking up energy across the country, grid failures, government mandates to lower your use of electricity to accommodate these EV’s. No Thank You a thousand times!!!

Lol - nobody is mandating you to get an EV. You can stick with your smog spewing gas car for as long as it works. Nobody is saying we will run out of gas anytime soon. That's not the reason for the switch to EVs but I'm sure you already know that. I do 99% of my charging at home so it actually takes me less time to "fuel up" than my ICE vehicles because all I do is park plug in and go inside my house. Tesla's also don't take 45 minutes to an hour to charge. If you were to charge from 0% to 100% then likely it would take 30 minutes at a Supercharger but typically you just charge for about 15-20 minutes. At your home it doesn't matter how long it takes as you just plug it in over night.
