We have a 2021 TRD Pro 4 runner, I personally love the old school technology, no Direct injection means no oil dilution or carbon build up, 5 speed bullet proof trans and actual manual stick for the 4wd so no electric solenoids to fail for the 4wd plus a full frame unlike the Jeep grand Cherokee, If you don’t mind the gas mileage they are tanks!!!!

Great video. I'm on my 3rd 4runner since 2008. We gave our 16 to our son. I'm driving a 22 TRD off road and love it. Also, mention that the 4.0 V6 is deliberately made to have a lower power band on purpose. It is bulletproof and made to be durable over the long haul. I reserve the need for power and satisfy that need with my 21 subaru STI. But I really don't think it's underpowered. We're driving an suv, people. We aren't drag-racing.

Try driving one at 6-8k feet in the mountains. they barely can get out of their own way. No way you can tow 5,000lb unless you want to melt your transmission. They are well made.... and it is more of a real off road SUV. They are not really that good in snow from a stability perspective. with studded tires they are very solid in traction but not in stability. The sway bars are not sufficient for highway driving. They were outdated in 2010 when it came out. Even the USB non C is only low power and will not support fast charging. If you like one buy a used one.. save $$ new ones are an embarrassment to Toyota. They are not good mountain area SUV at all for a host of reasons.
@dwightevans8545 Жыл бұрын
@@tsrfastsaab I appreciate your assessment. I only review what many others say. In snow, NO 4wd will be able to get out of a heavy, wet snow. So like you say, if tires are good, that's a game changer. I am most concerned with reliability, and nothing touches the old-school Toyotas. Still, their off-road capabilities are very good.

I don't know how people drive to get 13-15l/100km fuel economy. On the highway, I never get over 8.5L/100km and in city I get about 11L/100km.. Drive with care and precision and don't abuse on gas lol
@MGReviewsBlog Жыл бұрын
That's the thing, I don't have a heavy foot. Whenever I drive these demo cars, I usually average between the rated city & hwy fuel economy. With some (usually hybrids) I can get better than rated numbers. But with this one and the Tundra, I haven't been able to get close to the rated numbers. Does your 4Runner have the off-road-ish tires that this one does or are they normal all-season tires? That's the only thing I can think of for such a difference in fuel efficiency numbers.

@@MGReviewsBlog I am bone stock, my friend. Though, I have to mention that I am very sensitive and articulate on how I drive (not just for 4runners but for all cars I drive). It's just a habit that I've built up since I ever started driving and maybe that's why I get exceptional fuel economy compared to others. Getting used to simple things like pressing hard on the gas on downhill and almost no gas on the uphill would def improve the fuel economy.

Best SUV on the road for reliability and dependability. Better buy one before they change it to a 4 cylinder turbo. and mess it up.

My latest 4Runner is a 2022 TRD Off Road Premium and it’s been great over the past 15 months. It’s my second 5th Gen 4Runner; my first was a 2011, which I sold to a young couple in need of a durable SUV. Many of us like our vehicles reliable and simple; we actually work on them. Additionally, the aftermarket of available parts from bumpers and skid plates to rock sliders and cargo options.

Love my 2017 and man is it a fkn tank to tackle all the potholes where I literally broke the axle on my acura MDX.😂People complain about gas mileage but owning an acura that required higher octane gas (more expensive) vs this with unleaded, no difference at the pump and its beefy.

I have the black version of the same 40th and it is an amazing vehicle. Legendary engine and transmission which is what you need because they’re costly to replace. Water pump, brakes, rust on frame can be prevented, easily replaced. GM by comparison gives you engine failure at 40k miles…I know, personally, so basically throw out the whole car.
