That ls like my biggest gripe on new vehicles, is when you spend $76k and it rattles and feel cheap. Especially from Toyota! I’m sure it’s great, but I’ve heard from multiple reviewers and owners that it’s a step down in quality. Wild times I tell ya.

@HiPlains1
@HiPlains1 Жыл бұрын
@@hazygobrazy Unfortunately the old school 4 runner and GX 460 that still has the 4.6 V8 are the last in the line for the real Toyotas. Both these are still made in Japan and have legendary reliability and not just imaginary or "perceived" like the mexican made taco. Before that the only truck that was even more reliable was the old landcruiser that would literally last 50 years without major issue. Probably the most overbuild truck in existence. And now that too is gone. People are still buying up the 4 runners like mad and they sell for large addendums. Because they know they are buying a legend and are willing to pay a premium for it. Soon they will shove their 2.4 turbo and hybrid into the 4 runner and will stop making the bullet proof port injected 4 liter V6. That will be a sad day. Toyota keeps avoiding that because they fear there reputation will take a dump and the fact that demand for their older Japanese made trucks is through the roof.

I had a chance to briefly check out a Sequoia at the D.C. car show yesterday (there was way too many people). With the time I had, I wasn’t overly impressed, but I wanted to be! Lol I’ve been waiting for this SUV to hit my local dealerships. Once they arrive and I have more time to check it out, maybe my impression will improve

Ben I’ve seen all your videos and reviews I’ve been in a dilema I’ve pre ordered a 2023 AT4X AEV but I have yet to see a driving/ off road review on them which is a bummer because I need to know if what I ordered is worth it and hearing feedback from people that dedicate to this like you would be amazing I’ve been seeing a lot of TRD Sequoia reviews and I’m leaning much more on it than the AT4X because I’ve seen good (and bad reviews) on it. I’m on a waiting list for Toyota so I can test drive one small negative details on it but I love the way they look and love the reviews I’ve seen. Long story short do you think you can drive/review a AT4X AEV please I’d appreciate it thank you !

@BenHardyCars
@BenHardyCars Жыл бұрын
I’d rather have the land cruiser
@HiPlains1
@HiPlains1 Жыл бұрын
@@BenHardyCars Who wouldn't? The land cruiser was the most overbuilt truck ever made. But it had poor sales in the end because of its 100K dollar price tag. But oddly enough that will still be on the road after all these newer toys are in the Junk yard. A land cruiser is something you can drive for 50 years without exaggeration. Just a remarkable truck. Today the best bet would be to buy a Japanese made 4 runner or GX 460. Those will destroy the newer tacos, sequoia, or tundra as far as build quality. The newer trucks are not even remotely as good as the old school ones.

It's probably because it's really expensive to build in the US and to keep the cost down they cut corners. He didn't mention a whole bunch of things they skimmed on because they didn't want to spend the money to do an in-depth redesign. But I don't believe that's the only reason cars are losing quality. This bs push to get rid of fossil fuels has made them not want to invest in cars that have no future. This is why I won't buy any garbage modern car. I have a 2019 highlander platinum fully loaded and I love it. I believe for most vehicles 2019 was the line of the decline. Look at the highlander, now this heavy family vehicle has a 4-cylinder hybrid, what garbage. Give me a choice or I'm leaving. I also had a RX 350 and the new Lexus is a major step down.

Overseas you can buy a Prado which is like a diesel version of the GX 460. Sadly, Toyota will not offer their D4D diesel in the states. Although you can buy low mile JDM right hand drive diesel Prado from 1997 which does not have to pass emissions in the states. That is the only way. I've considered going that route. Any JDM import can bought after 25 years. Some clean ones in Japan since they don't drive them allot.

Let’s see one can spend 90 to 100 grand on a USA made Toyota SUV which is mediocre or by lightly used 200 series Land Cruiser. Is that really a choice? Which one will last 300,000 miles? Which one is recognized as the most iconic vehicle ever made? I honestly don’t know how they are going to sell 5000 of these vehicles in the United States? This is just a middle of the road over priced SUV. I would actually buy one at a normal price of 65 grand. But they are almost 100. Again that’s Land Cruiser money. Are you really gonna compare Land Cruiser. and a Sequoia
@HiPlains1
@HiPlains1 Жыл бұрын
Nothing was built like a Land Cruiser. You can't compare anything to that. Because the Land cruiser will still be on the road after all these are dead and buried in the Junk yard. Sad they quit making it. People thought it was too expensive but in reality, it was worth every penny because it literally will drive for 50 years without little fuss. They didn't just make it to last more then the warranty. It was built to last multiple generations. Something you could hand down to a grand child.

Time is running out for ya. Only ones left (port injected 4 and 4.6 v8) are the Japanese made 4 runner and GX 460. Both old school quality in and out. But they probably both be gone in a year or two. Then it will just be cheaply made hybrid crap. Probably won't be anything from Japan much longer. This is key if you want a really well made Toy. Got to come from the Island. Much of the quality of toyota these days like in the mexican made tacoma is "perceived" by their cult following. However, when it comes to the 4 runner or GX 460 there is nothing imaginary about the reliability. Those are both bullet proof and rattle free rides.

If you want build quality and something that is really over built to the tee then buy a used landcruiser. If you want something new buy a Japanese made 4 runner or GX 460. Both those have bullet proof port injected motors and will be on the road 20 years after these piles of hybrid crap will be in the Junk yard. Toyota quality is mostly "perceived" by cult like fans. But when it comes to the older Japanese products made in Japan there is nothing imaginary about the quality. And one by one toyota is replacing their old school trucks. Now the Sequoia has also become a cheap rattle box with hybrid crap. If your going to pay this much get the real deal while you still can.

Unless you buy a Japanese made GX 460 or 4 runner. Both old school quality and will last forever with their Port injected motors with old school transmissions. If your lucky enough to live overseas you can buy a landcruiser Prado with the D4D diesel. Toy still makes good stuff but the list is getting shorter every year. Once the 4 runner and GX 460 are updated there will be no good options in the US. Time is running out.

@@Wxman9123 Put me in that camp. I'd take a GX 460 any day of the week and twice on Sundays over this cheaply made rattle box with hybrid crap. The GX 460 is made in Japan will be on the road 20 years after this pile of shit is in the junk yard. The port injected 4.6 V8 will last forever. The 4 runner is also a great choice over this since it too is made in Japan and still has the 4 liter port injected motor. Only thing even better would be the discontinued land cruiser or a diesel powered Prado which unfortunately can't be imported to the states. But all of those have exponentially better build quality then the cheap crap made in the states and in Mexico. I'll take the old school transmissions and port injected engines over any hybrid crap with direct injection with turbos. Like I said, the stuff made on the island will be on the road for generations after these newer products are end of life.
